When our garage door wouldn't open, I discovered one of the springs had snapped. The person I spoke with at Eagle Feather was friendly and patient as he guided me through how to verify exactly which size spring was on the garage door (which was easy, you're just looking for numbers painted along the spring). They were out the next day to replace both springs--not just the one that snapped--and they charged about half of what another company had quoted me.
While they were replacing the springs, they discovered my springs were mismatched--that a prior garage door repairman must have replaced only one spring--not both at the same time--and had likely just grabbed whichever one he had in the truck. Eagle Feather installed the replacement springs quickly and told me that if it turned out the correct spring was actually the other size that he would be back the next day with two new springs at no additional cost. Thankfully that didn't need to happen. When he tested the door, it lifted effortlessly.
After he finished replacing the springs, the technician tightened every single bolt on the back of the garage door (some of which had gotten pretty loose) and greased up every hinge. It's probably not as quiet as a brand new garage door, but it is soooo much quieter now when it opens and closes.
Eagle Feather really did a great job. My technician was probably the easiest home repair person I've ever worked with. He was quick, professional and really went above and beyond my expectations. read more
