I was 4 minutes late, but called ahead and she said that it was ok. When I arrived, I explained that I was going through serious medical treatments and asked if she would mind wearing a mask while cutting my hair. She refused, and I was surprised and disappointed my medical condition didn't matter to her. I was still going to get the cut anyway, but then she told me to leave and go somewhere else and didn't honor our appointment. Very strange and not very compassionate interaction. I needed a haircut after the 3 months of SAH. It's appointment mainly but I believe you can do a walk in and MAX is only 2 clients at the same time. Highly recommend if in the area and the cut was $30! I believe less for men. Parking: lot shared with other businesses. read more

EA Salon is an absolutely wonderful hair salon for a very affordable price! I went in with damaged, messy hair that hadn't been cut in a long time. Elizabeth fixed me up in less than 30 minutes, and the difference is day and night. :) I originally asked for just an inch off the ends but she suggested I take more off since the ends were damaged. I liked how she gave me her advice on the length but didn't push me either way (I ended up agreeing with her though). Some stylists I've been to are very firm/pushy about their opinions. I recommend this salon to everyone. Elizabeth is a master of her craft. I've done it all here-- full color, root touch ups, toning, treatments, eyebrow wax, blowouts, curls, cuts, trims, you name it. I've always been completely satisfied. Elizabeth knows hair. The prices are incredibly low. Before learning about EA, I paid $200-$300 or more in LA for a color touch-up and trim. Let me just say, this would have completely blown my budget if I kept it up. I started dyeing my own hair, much to the detriment of its natural thickness and waves. Thank God for Elizabeth! She got me out of the box color rut. Her results look better than at pricy salons. No one can compete with her in terms of maintaining healthy processed hair. Yet her prices are easily 1/3 of the competition's. I would wonder how she stays in business with such reasonable prices, but her talent has people coming back. A hair stylist's demeanor is important, as we all know. Elizabeth is incredibly affable. You can easily talk to her for hours. She treats her clients well. I get uncomfortable when stylists are pushy about which products to buy, and Elizabeth isn't like that at all. She hooked me up with a surprisingly affordable conditioning spray that I use daily, and I know that she wouldn't be judgmental if I stopped using it. She doesn't even lecture me when I do no-lift coloring at home! Who wants to go to a stylist who doubles as a lecturing pushy salesperson? Not me, so I go to Elizabeth. I was in desperate need of a hair trim (i.e. trimming the dead ends and sprucing up the layers) because I constantly color my hair and curl it, which causes plenty of damage. My sister actually cuts hair but she lives in Vegas and its a hassle driving there. So I needed a "go-between" haircut to assuage my damaged tresses. As many folks out there, I'm super budget these days and just needed something moderately priced. I used to go to salons and drop $80+ for a haircut, but felt inspired after my boyfriend always goes to Casanova's on Sunset for an $8 cut. He encouraged me to go there, but, having never spent under $50 for a haircut, I just couldn't risk getting my money's worth and getting an awful $8 cut. At least a $25 cut isn't too expensive to be pissed if its bad and not cheap enough where you would feel you got a bad "$8 haircut." So, I found EA Salon and figured, $25 was still such a great price and the salon is in a great location. I had Elizabeth cut my hair and she was polite and sweet. She gave me exactly what I wanted--no frills great clean up of my hair. She also gave me some tips to diffuse my hair more rather than straightening it since it can damage it so quickly. I was there for about 30 minutes and left satisfied. If you are like me, and just need a quick clean up and nothing dramatic or fancy, I would recommend Elizabeth. I know the yelp reviews had some bad comments about her bang cutting abilities so, I opted to not let her fool with them (just in case), especially since I'm growing out Betty bangs which takes FOREVER. Just to note I called ahead to make an appointment but called about 2 more times to change it and she was very flexible and understanding. This is a small no-frills salon in a little strip mall on La Brea, just south of Hollywood. Haircut, wash, and blow-dry for $25 + tip. I've seen all kinds of people get their hair cut in here, from little old Russian ladies to young Hollywood types. I've been getting my hair cut here from Elizabeth for about 2 years and I've never been disappointed. Even while my hair is growing out she manages to cut it so that it is still manageable. She's also done an up-do for me for a wedding. I don't know about their coloring services but they also do that. I try to go on my days off work, but they are also open on weekends. I usually call ahead to find out if they are busy but you don't really need an appointment. Parking has never been a problem in the small lot and I believe there is also street parking available. read more

I came on Yelp and looked for a salon near the Hollywood area. I thought, for the prices, that they had decent reviews. I am pretty easy going and don't require much so I don't need a fancy salon. I had previously gone to Form Academy in Echo Park,which I HIGHLY recommend, but they had limited availability the last few times I've tried to schedule. When I arrived, the two women who were working today were arguing over some matter and when I walked in the door I was not addressed. In fact, I felt like I was interuppting their conversation. When someone finally looked at me I said "Hi, I have an appointment." and she just said "Ya." and pointed to her seat. She was clearly not having a good morning and later told me she was annoyed with her co worker. I did not have a very good feeling about it right away. Throughout the entire experience her co worker was not answering the phone so my stylist was picking up the phone constantly and dealing with booking appointments. The other woman was leaving the salon to read a book outside and was not helping at all. Totally unprofessional. When I told her I wanted highlights, we barely discussed it at length. I said I didn't want the highlights to be brassy. She immediately told me what she was going to do. We didn't talk about color, cut, style, look, feel, nothing. She then preceded to put a cap on me which is basically something I've never had done aside from a home hair kit, in a salon ever. After she did the highlights, she put a toner on it. When we went back to the seat I could not see ANY blonde whatsoever. She ignored this and went on to the haircut. I told her it didn't look like my hair had any highlights at all. She immediately seemed nervous, swept me out of the seat, and said "ok, ok! I'll put lightener on your hair." I definitely got the sense that she KNEW it did not come out right and was hoping I wouldn't say anything. She then put BLEACH all over my head and turned all of my hair a brassy gold. I ended up deciding to leave instead of letting her continue to ruin my hair. She apologized and wanted to fix it again but I just didn't have a good feeling about her ability to fix it at that point. I actually like this salon a LOT better than her old location because it's small, quiet, private, and it's easy to find parking. SERVICES I've had done at EA include cut, color, keratin, blowout, and style.... Everything has always turned out phenomenal and the PRICES are fair. Angela has advised me on the types of hair products that are best to keep my keratin treatment lasting longer and her advice has made such a difference! Both of the hairstylists who work there can cut hair and they are very patient and meticulous with their work. They have never given me a bad haircut and there is never a wait in line.
