I (and my cousin) found this business to be terrible, in violation of California laws, and anti-Veteran.
FIRST, when I went to use the public restroom while my cousin was filling up the gas tank, the clerk curtly informed me that "no public bathroom." That is in clear violation of California Law Business & Professions CODE CH 14.5 Service Stations effective Jan 1 2000, which clearly requires "every station in this state to provide during business hours and make available free to customers who buy motor vehicle fuel, water, compressed air, gauge to public for use in servicing passenger vehicle or commercial vehicle with an unladen weight 6k pounds or less. Effective Jan 1 1990 every service station in state located within 660 feet of an accessible right-of-way of an interstate or primary highway shall provide during business hours public restrooms for customers and shall not charge separately for use of restrooms.
(2) The public restroom shall not be temporary or portable but shall be permanent and shall include separate facilities for men and women, each with toilets and sinks suitable for use by disabled persons in accordance with Section 19955.5 of the Health and Safety Code and Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations. However, a service station not located along an interstate highway and in a rural area, as defined by Section 101 of Title 23 of the United States Code, and where the annualized average daily traffic count is 2,500 vehicles or less, is only required to provide a single restroom to be used by both men and women unless the local legislative body or, upon designation by the local legislative body, the local building official determines and finds, based upon traffic studies and local or seasonal tourist patterns, that a single restroom would be inadequate to serve the public. In that event, the single restroom exemption shall not apply. The single restroom shall contain a toilet, urinal, and sink suitable for use by disabled persons as required by the Americans With Disabilities Act and Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations. The single restroom shall be equipped with a locking mechanism to be operated by the user of the restroom and the restroom shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
(4) For the purposes of this subdivision, "customer" means a person who purchases any product available for sale on the premises of the service station, including items not related to the repairing or servicing of a motor vehicle."
SECOND, this business had another violation of California Law Business & Professions CODE CH 14.5 as the required sign was missing which is required to be there stating "Every station shall display at a conspicuous place on at or near the dispensing apparatus at least one clearly visible sign which shall read: "CA LAW REQUIRES THIS STATION PROVIDE FREE AIR AND WATER FOR AUTO PURPOSES TO CUSTOMERS WHO BUY MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL. IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT NOTIFY THE STATION ATTENDANT AND/OR CALL THIS TOLL-FREE TELEPHONE # 1 (800) ...." sign shall meet the requirements of Sec 13473 13474 with regard to letter size and contrast."
THIRD, all the hand sanitizer dispensers were empty.
FOURTH, a publicly disclosed daily Veteran Discount provides resource to ensure Veterans (rare 7% of the population) opportunity to participate in American Dream their sacrifices have made possible. There is NO Veterans Discount here so this business is clearly NOT Veteran-friendly.
FIFTH, this business was not adhering to or enforcing the CDC and Governor's rules for masks, social distancing and hand-washing. I find it's ALWAYS preferable to be 6' apart than 6' under, and to wear a mask instead of a ventilator.
SIXTH, also in violation of California Law Business & Professions CODE CH 14.5, this business failed to "PROVIDE FREE AIR AND WATER FOR AUTO PURPOSES." After my cousin had filled up the gas tank, my cousin wanted to put air in a low tire. The clerk told us, "that costs a couple dollars per tire".
I really dislike it when a business leaves me no choice but to leave a negative review. First, because I have to write this distasteful review instead of the glowing reviews I prefer and second, because this business put my cousin and I through such a distasteful experience. I don't recommend Chevron ExtraMile. read more
