I had an emergency roof situation where a huge tornado-like window caused my over 100lb chimney cap to blow off. Unfortunately for me, I live in a rowhouse in Boston where I literally do not have any roof access at all, let alone the reach to adjust and fix a chimney cap that is an extra 30 feet high away from the nearest sky light. I could see the damage but I certainly couldn't reach it. And to be clear, this is not the type of roof that is eagerly serviced by many due to the height, difficult access and complexity. I emailed out to 15 different yelp roofers, of the few that responded with an ability to service (or at least look), only WRC roofing was understanding of the situation and agreed to act as quickly as possible. Even though it happened mid-afternoon and they were far away, they were willing to come asap and arrived within the hour to assess the situation. We discussed and agreed on an action plan. Will really took the time to explain everything and truly look at the issue without being dismissive or patronizing. He is friendly and super approachable and the consummate professional. His and his wife's entire calm and patient demeanor put me at ease that they both knew what they were doing and were empathetic to our panic at the entire situation. Due to insurance reasons, I could only hire him initially for emergency services to quickly patch and prevent more harm/damage while the insurance adjuster was being assigned to my claim and performed their assessment. He went to prepare right away, we got a quote pretty quickly and accepted his help. The weather kept him from actually doing any work that same day (started raining and lightning) so he offered to comeback the next day to fix the issue. He arrived on time with all his equipment. He was respectful of the entire property he was in and working on. He talk through all the safety precautions he would take without any hesitation when I asked him, demonstrating his experience and knowledge of these types of roofs (think steep slope and slippery slate). The patch repairs looked clean and presentable even though it was just meant to be temporary. I thought they charged a fair price/hour for the emergency service as well as for the transport. I never felt bullied, pushed over, or upsold on anything. He gave us copies of his workman's comp and insurance prior to starting. He communicated so well throughout the ENTIRE experience. His team was quick to provide contracts and invoices. He took lots of pictures throughout his work and sent them to me afterwards. He even went above and beyond his responsibilities because while he was up there, helped me get rid of a piece of slate in my gutter I just happened to mention off hand that was bothering me when we assess the roof. He just offered and did it! As for the actual repair, he fixed some areas of broken slate shingles, put a nice new metal cap on top of the (out of use) chimney, and installed a brand new copper gutter for me. The metal cap was secured fully with bolts and it looked extremely neat and tidy. He took plenty of before and after photographs for me so I could see the progress and the changes. This was important to me so that I could follow along. Along that line, his communication was just superb. He was immensely polite and professional. He made sure to notify me when he was on the way and also at the end of the day when he was done. He updated me frequently on progress and next steps and he listened to my concerns and we had a discussion about the roof repair instead of him just doing whatever he wanted. My only critique was that overall, it took him longer than he originally stated. However, he did a fantastic job and everything looked really nicely done. I am extremely happy with the outcome. I wholeheartedly recommend him to others and would be thrilled to see his business grow.

They also cut the refrigeration line to my air conditioner unit which I had to pay $2000 to get it fixed. I've been patient and given them plenty of time to address this and they'd come up with one excuse after another. It's been a waste of time and effort dealing with them. My next step is to take them to court. This is insanely annoying! I'm also surprised they showed pics of my roof on here. It's a Mickey Mouse job. The whole deck is crooked and was not done correctly. They obviously did not use any form of measurements when cutting the wood!

On January 30, 2021, I said I agreed to the proposal and would like to sign a contract. Dean Willette said he'd come to the house the following Thursday, but didn't make the appointment. I followed up with him to move things forward and eventually he said he needed to take another look at the job at my home. He did that today and then called me to say that the job would cost an additional $8,000 - for the exact same work. Needless to say I was shocked and disappointed. I will be looking elsewhere for a contractor who will do the job for the price on his/her proposal.

Since receiving the final milestone payment, we have had months of frustration due to a complete lack of communication, missed deadlines, and subquality workmanship. There were extended periods--sometimes weeks at a time--when no work was being performed, and no proactive communication was provided regarding delays or next steps. The quality of work completed by several subcontractors was disappointing and frequently required correction. We were left to supervise the subcontractors and check the quality of work, Jake was rarely if ever on site. We were often left to clean up after the subcontractors left a mess and/or broke things during their work. When legitimate concerns were raised about workmanship, instead of addressing the issues professionally, Jake became defensive, dismissive, and at times openly hostile. Rather than taking responsibility for deficiencies, he frequently attempted to shift blame, minimize concerns, or suggest that the problems being identified were not real issues. The experience felt more like being gaslit than having concerns addressed by a professional. Customer service was virtually nonexistent throughout the project. Phone calls and messages often went unanswered or flippant excuses "it's been a busy/hectic week". I was left constantly chasing updates and seeking explanations for delays that should have been communicated proactively. A contractor's value is measured not only by the finished product but also by professionalism, accountability, communication, and respect for the customer. Unfortunately, this contractor failed on all counts. The combination of poor workmanship, chronic delays, lack of communication, and hostile responses to reasonable questions made this one of the worst experiences I have had with a home improvement professional. Extremely Disappointing & Maddening Experience…read more We have been working with Drohan Development for over a year on a major addition and renovation project, and unfortunately, the experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Despite the scale and significance of this project, the company has consistently fallen short in several critical areas. 1. Quality of Work The quality of workmanship in many areas has been unacceptable. We've encountered numerous issues that have required constant follow-up and rework. This has significantly delayed progress and project completion and left us questioning the overall integrity of their work. 2. Delays and Missed Deadlines Timelines provided by the contractor have been repeatedly missed without explanation or accountability. They use words like "we hope" or "we are trying" or "we are waiting to hear" and then no word on when a sub is showing up and when they do, we are supervising them vs them which is maddening. What should have been a straightforward renovation has dragged on far longer than expected, causing stress, unexpected time needed on our part and additional expenses. 3. Poor Communication and Responsiveness One of the most frustrating aspects of working with this company has been the lack of communication. Repeated calls, emails, and messages often go unanswered for days or even weeks. Gaslighting at its finest. When we do get a response, it is often vague or dismissive followed by continued silence leaving us with more questions than answers. 4. Lack of Overall Customer Service We expected a professional and customer-focused experience, especially given the significant cost of this project. Instead, we've encountered indifference and, at times, outright hostility when raising concerns. They have taken no responsibility or accountability for their own actions and that of their subcontractors. Is a matter of fact we have served as the onsite project manager with no one from Drohan supervising their contractors, or ensuring work was done and completed correctly and that continues to this day since our project still isn't done. 5. Unmet Expectations Overall, Drohan has failed to deliver on their promises. A project that was promised in 6-8 months has dragged on now for more than a year and their silence is deafening. We had high hopes for this renovation, but the repeated setbacks and ongoing issues have turned it into a nightmare. Recommendation We cannot in good conscience recommend Drohan Development for any home renovation or construction project. If you value quality work, clear and consistent communication, accountability when things don't go right and timely delivery, save yourself and look elsewhere.
