A few months ago, I had a water pipe burst in my bathroom.  It was so bad, it destroyed the back of my cabinets, my hallway and walls.  I had to get my insurance involved, and adjuster and Serve Pro.  Even though I appreciate the work that those guys have done, the MVP of the group was Adam and his team at Rebuild Ex.  These guys did a job so well done, they deserve to have their own television show!  They took their time to do the job right.  No short cuts, no bandages and nothing less than perfection.  I was contacted when changes had to be made and always addressed in the most respected manner. Rebuild Ex is a company a great morals and Adam Shurtleff is a man with a great heart.  I would honestly recommend this company to anything who needs work done to their home. read more

RebuildEx came to my home after hearing about the fire over a police scanner. I was in shock after losing everything to fire, smoke and/or water damage. They rebuilt my house in w/in 4 months. That's when I started to notice the shotty workmanship. Buz Artiano gave me a budget to buy my kitchen appliances. He had me go shopping, at the store of his choosing, with a RebuildEx employee. First, the water line to the refrigerator leaked and ruined the hardwood flooring underneath. They replaced both the fridge and the damaged hardwood. Then, the dishwasher made the dishes dirtier, after running through the cleaning cycle, than when I had loaded them in. I made repeated calls to RebuildEx, but nothing was done. I called the store where it had been purchased and they had a repairman come out and fix it. The bathtub was installed with damage to the surface in 3 places. The toilet also had a previously repaired chip and crack under the lip. The toilet tank leaks from a bolt. The bathroom sink drain will not hold water. I have been calling and emailing about these 2 items for 9 months now. They keep telling me that repairs will be made. But, none have been scheduled yet. My biggest concern is the circuit to the HVAC unit tripping 3 times last Summer and 3 times this past Winter. I am afraid the inadequate wiring may cause a fire. Again, I have called and emailed RebuildEx regarding these necessary repairs for the past 9 months. Again I have been told repairs will be made. But, nothing has been done. There are smaller issues (poorly done painting, porch posts made with inferior grade lumber, and unsightly porch footings) that I am just accepting. Kathi K read more

When it rains, it pours. We had water damage in our home and were referred to RebuildEx. From our initial meeting with Buz Artiano, we knew we were in great hands.He assessed what we needed and exceeded our expectations with over the top quality. We had to be out of our home while the work took place and there were many workers who came and went. They were honest, top caliber tradesman. Our project manager was Adam Shurtleff. He was on top of every detail large and small. My husband had to have surgery during the renovation. I honestly don't know what I would have done without Adam. We didn't have to worry about anything. He stayed in touch with us as each phase of the project was completed. We look around our home and are truly grateful for ReBuildex. We would give them more than 5 stars if we could. I was initially impressed with this company's prompt response and their proposal. I was optimistic that the apparently knowledgeable and detail-oriented general contractor would, as others on this page have stated, "restore my faith in contractors". My experience after the initial proposal was that this contractor provided minimal supervision, and frequently was not aware of the specific progress of the work. Workmanship was sporadic depending upon the vendor. The company's lengthy response to repairing mistakes in work - and there were at least eight - was less a demonstration of responsiveness than an indication of incompetence. I would not recommend this company to friends or family. read more

I first used RebuildEx over the summer of 2014. They were recommended by my insurance agency to fix damage caused by ice dams from the winter of 2014. I could not have been more pleased with the work they did. The men were professional and took great care in covering and protecting the areas of my home that were not being restored. Through phone calls, emails, and text, the RebuildEx advisers were always prompt in returning my questions and were careful to explain what they were doing next. This winter of 2015, I had more ice dam issues--this time more severe than before. I called my insurance company, who sent out an adjuster brought in from another part of the country. I'm not sure he fully understood the extent of the issue, as he issued payment for not even part of what needed to be repaired. After an insurance representative stated that I would probably end up on a waiting list for repairs, I decided to call RebuildEx again. It was the best decision I could have made. Ken, John, Nick, and all of the men who have been helping out are the best at their craft. They returned my inquiry promptly and made me feel as though they were happy to help out. This level of customer service seems to be what this company is all about. And when you have damaged walls and ceilings throughout your house, a friendly and concerned person is what you need to make you feel better! I know that restoration and carpentry services have been in demand after the 2015 winter storms, but you wouldn't know it from how quickly they started the process of "drying-out" my house and making repairs. Again, great care has been taken to separate work areas (of which there are many) and living spaces. And they are always careful to use licensed electricians and plumbers. I appreciate that very much. Although the damage caused by the dreaded snow storms of 2015 was significant to my home, I am very comfortable allowing RebuildEx to take over--knowing that the work they do will leave my house in the same, if not much better, condition than before the damage was even done. Without reservation, I highly recommend this company for home restoration and rebuilding, and stress reduction! read more

Second time I've used Rebuildex. Tree fell on my house. I'd worked with these guys in the past and I wasn't sure if they could help me with this particular incident. I was relieved when they said they could because I had a very positive experience last time. Response was really quick. They got the tree taken off my roof and put a tarp in place until the roof could be repaired. Took photos and contacted the insurance company for me so everything could get moving quickly, which was appreciated in the middle of winter. My job is pretty demanding and I don't have the time or desire to deal with this stuff (perhaps I'll rent in the future), so I really appreciate a company that makes these things as easy as can be reasonably expected. Rebuildex was recommended by our insurance company for mold remediation in our attic. They were fabulous. They are certified in remediation and up to date on the lastest treatments. Very honest, came when they said they would. Did the job quickly and very easy to work with. Finding mold in your attic is not fun, especially when the mold remediators that come to your house are often unqualified and uncertified. Rebuildex restored at least part of my faith in the industry. read more

Rebuildex was SENT to our home by our insurance company after a tree fell on our home. They came out NOT at our request and removed the tree from our house and the debris. The sent us a $900 bill for it. In the mean time, the insurance refused to pay for the tree removal stating removal was not part of our policy. We reminded them that we never requested removal, and they send this company out without our permission. We also told this to Rebuildex that no one in our home signed off on, or contracted with them to remove the tree, so their bill should have been paid by our insurance company who sent them. This girl who works in their offices was horrendous. She was rude, surly, threatened us, and eventually attempted to sue us. They eventually got their money out of our insurance company like they should have to begin with. This company is shady, avoid at all costs. read more

Our home was hit by lightening. It killed the air conditioner, heater, blew out dish satellite and most every other external device in our home. We have USAA insurance and Rebuildex was who they recommended. What a nice job Rebuildex did for us. They were fast, and neat and really did a great job. Very happy with their communication with us and the insurance company. I would recommend them again. read more

I am not a fan of Rebuildex. The workmanship was subpar at best. Job lacked on-sight supervision.

They showed up when my house was burning down (VULTURES!) I was told that I would need to have the house boarded up. The guy told me "it will not cost you anything. We will bill your insurance company". He neglected to mention that the $$ is taken out of the $ from insurance to repair or rebuild. (I signed with out reading fine print as my house was burning / DURRESS!) Now they are over charging me (according to insurance adjuster & contractors I have spoken to). read more

I had a 100' tree fall on my attached garage and cause about $75K in damage. I was at a loss as to who to call and, being new to the Scituate area, didn't know any local contractors. I was referred to Rebuildex and they were great to work with. They knew how to maneuver through the insurance stuff, they created a chart that told me when each phase of construction would take place and when the job would be completed - and stuck to the schedule. The supervisor was reachable and responsive, and the subs he selected were great as well. Through every phase of construction, the work area was kept neat as well. Rebuildex was contracted by my insurance Co. to repair some water damage in my home. Their initial emergency response was great, So great that we decided to sign a contract for them to finish the job to completion. But that is were the good part ends. After signing a contract with them their estimator came out and took all the proper measurements. He told us that the first contract was null and void due to the fact that Rebuildex name was not on the insurance check. so they wanted us to sign a second contract which included a stipulation that they would receive 1/3 at the start 1/3 in the middle and 1/3 at the end of the job. That was fine with us but because the damage was over $10,000 our mortgage Co. had to get involved and they would only release 1/2 of the check at the start and 1/2 at 95% completion. Again this was something I thought we could work around. So we called and made an appointment for the estimator to come back out to the house so we could finalize the contract. We asked him to bring with him some kind of samples of the floor tiles, cabinets, we would have to choose from to complete the job (he only brought carpet and linoleum samples on his first visit) A few hours after making this appointment the estimator called back and stated that Rebuildex would not be taking the job. He stated he did not think that Rebuildex could make us happy. After 3 weeks of our house being a total disaster we have to start the whole process over again because REBUILDEX ADMITTED THAT THEY COULD NOT MAKE A CUSTOMER HAPPY! read more

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY! I had massive water damage from a broken toilet line in a second floor bathroom while I was away on vacation. My insurance company sent ReBuildEx out and upon the initial meeting I was pretty impressed so decided to go with them. HUGE MISTAKE. It was all downhill after the work started. There was poor supervision, many many mistakes made by both the GC and the contractors. One of the Subs stole jewelry from me and I had to get the police involved - Which I thought that would be the worst part of the experience with them however it's now less than 2 years later and pretty much everything they did is just falling apart. Supposed "high quality" kitchen cabinets have doors that are all shifting to different heights within the door itself so not something just adjusting the hinges, molding is falling off form improper installation, bathroom floor tiles are all cracking from the floor not being leveled correctly and the grout in the shower is all falling off. I could not be more disgusted with this company and their horrible work! read more

Rebuildex was contracted by my insurance company to repair damage I had from a frozen water pipe. I had damage in one upstairs bedroom, my brand new renovated kitchen and the basement. The whole process was a nightmare. The water damage occurred in February and the work was not completed until September. The project manager was fired by the company within 2 week of starting the job. He was never replaced. I felt uncomfortable with them and the work from the beginning and ended up taking hours off work so I could be there every minute they were working. Initially when the electrician came out to check all the electrical wiring to a dozen lights that had been soaked, he spent less than 25 minutes to do this task. I had to refuse to sign the insurance checks over to the company because there were numerous things in the estimate that were never done. They ended up adjusting the charges by hundreds of dollars in the end. I absolutely do not recommend this company to anyone. read more

We had ice dam this winter. We used Rebuildex. Project Mgr, Chris Lyons was assigned to our repair. He is not a contractor, as I assumed he was when we first met, he is a project mgr. We basically are pleased with Rebuildex but not pleased w/ Chris Lyons. He was difficult to work with. Chose to text rather than speak on the phone. We, myself, my husband, two teenage sons, and a dog, lived in 3 different hotels for 3 months plus. we moved back home to a disaster. Boxes everywhere, bathroom sink clogged, not draining (it was replaced by rebuildex) The refrigerator was disgusting. it had been wrapped in plastic and power was accidentally shut off by power surge from power tools or electrical work being done. Chris refused to replace it He had someone clean it w/4 gallons of bleach. And it still smelled horrible. The flat screen tvs we had to pay to have re-installed. And all the window treatments were thrown in a pile on the porch. Also thrown in piles on porch were coats & clothes removed from closets that needed work. We were not asked to remove those items We had to buy for a new refrigerator. the smell was awful and anything placed inside it would end up smelling awful. Chris still refuses to reimburse us for the fridge. read more
