A local restaurant located within easy walking distance from the Genova Piazza Principe train station, serving good pizza.
We had a 2.5 hour layover in Genoa, so wanted to try pizza made in Italy for the first time. We stopped during lunchtime and it wasn't too busy inside, and had enough space for us to store our luggage without getting in anybody's way. Menus were given, and many of the items had English translations. They had a local beer on tap, in 3 different sizes. We decided to split a spicy salami pizza (7,5€), French fries (3,5€), medium beer (5€). The waiter spoke enough English to correctly get our order. The beer was delivered right away, and it was good. After about 10 minutes, the pizza and fries came, and both were excellent. The pizza crust was soft and thin, and hadn't been cut. The cheese was plentiful and very good, stretchy. The sauce was good, and the thinly sliced salami added a lot of flavor to the pizza. The fries were really good...the wedge kind, but had divots on the wide side to provide even more crispy surface area (I can not find on the Internet what these are called and I've never had these in the States!?!) . There were no dips, but were spiced enough by itself to be tasty. We were able to finish the pizza, and with the fries, we were pretty full. They don't have a water filter, so only bottled water is provided.
We paid using a credit card, and by the time we left, the restaurant had begun to fill up. With its closeness to both the train station and the cruise port, I'm thinking E Prie de Ma gets a lot of tourist customers like us in at different times. Their food and service are geared towards that, and it was greatly appreciated. read more
