What can I say? Everything is good. The Penne alla Portofino is delicious and I mistakenly ordered it, but ended up very happy. Salsa de noce Here is very good, I especially love the Marinara Mussels and Calamari. If you have a group larger than four, they will often make you to order it "family style" but it's very very good that way. We ate with 7 people essentially an 8 course meal with Wine and altogether it cost about €27 each. And it's in such a lovely area, right in the Porto Antico. If you're stopping here and want to try some things more traditional and very regional, please. try here, so many delicious things that you can only get in Liguria. Ciao Genova! Keely

had a very good dinner at Cavour miso 21 on a Sunday evening when they just opened. I had the pasta with cuttlefish and bell pepper sauce (Mezzemaniche Seppie) which was excellent, the mixed grilled fish which included fish, calamari, and shrimp (Grigliata di Pesce) which was very good, and tiramisu which was also excellent. I also had some of the house red wine which was surprisingly good for only 5 euros for a half liter. The food was reasonably priced and a great value. Only issue I had was they were extremely busy with about 40 people already in line when I arrived about 10 minutes before my reservation time. I WhatsApp them asking if I should come to the front of the line but did not hear back. When I got closer to the front I told the owner/guy in charge that I had reservations but he said he called out my name and I did not answer so he gave away my table. I ended up waiting an hour to finally get seated even with reservations. I recommend you WhatsApp their phone number and still get there 20-30 minutes early if you want to get a table. The servers were extremely busy but friendly. I came back a few days later for lunch and the food and service were amazing so I bumped my rating up. I had the pesto lasagna, fried fish, and Sorrentina mussels which were all amazing. The entire bill for 3 dishes, 1 liter of wine, water was only 34 euros which was less than I paid For other Meals with less flavor and poorer service. I recommend this restaurant but be careful coming on real busy days.

Father son time! That basin of liquid is 3€ of wine :)

Greeted by a small man with heaps of charisma which started our experience off to a strong start. They said they had no tables for two, but would ask if we could join a previously sat party at their table. Thankfully they said yes and we began our intrusion of what seamed to be a father son reunion. Our presence didnt seem to bother them until maybe our 3rd glass of wine (which was illegally cheap). The waitor basically ordered for us which is really all you can ask for in an italian restaurant. We got the famous pesto pasta that hit perfectly right. Was also a beautiful price. If you want efficient, cheap, and delicious food (or an italian waitor worthy of putting in your pocket) this is the spot.

They're best known for their pesto and sea food . They're very popular and there's always a line since they don't take reservations but the staff are quite fast and you will get seated quickly . Or you can buy pasta and cook at home

The best pesto in the world! When we arrived there was about a half hour wait and I'm so glad we decided to wait. Everything was delicious. The pesto sauce is perfect because it's not overwhelming, it's subtle and cheesy and it's just sooo good. I've never had a pesto like this. The fried anchovies were crunchy and yummy. And the pasta with seafood was filled with clams and flavorful sauce that we just kept dipping bread into. If you are in Genoa, you gotta try it.

Amazing pesto pasta at a very reasonable price point near the Genoa port. The tubete pasta comes with green beans and potatoes. It was 8 euro and also served with bread pieces inside a bag. Be prepared to wait for a table but the line moves as there are many tables both inside and outside. Staff spoke good English too. Would return!

Branzino alla Liguria. Sea Bass Ligurian style. It had a nice olive sauce and potatoes.

I was looking for gluten free food and found this place. Luckily I arrived just before the rush as the restaurant quickly filled up. Although they did not have gluten free pasta or pizza, they had fish and salad and vegetables. The fish was good. My husband has pesto pasta and foccacia and really liked it. The staff was busy but was always able to answer questions and were attentive.

We were riding on a bus when we saw people lining up for this restaurant and decided we needed to go back and see what the draw was. The sign out front proclaimed them to be the "Pesto World Champion". We had to wait about 15 -20 minutes to be seated. The restaurant is not large - several small rooms - very cramped and nothing fancy; but, so worth it. The atmosphere and vibe were lively and upbeat. We were seated in the upstairs dining room and Ilaria was our server. Of course, we had to order the trenette al pesto con fagiolini e patate (pasta with pesto, green beans and potatoes). Oh my, they really are the champions. This pasta dish was loaded with flavor. In addition to the two pasta dishes, we enjoyed a 1/2 liter of white wine and 1 liter of water - all for the most reasonable price of € 18.50. This restaurant is a must for anyone who likes pesto.

Best pasta in Genova. Perfectly Cooked, flavorful sauce and most importantly perfected pesto. We were in town for 3 days and ate here 4 times...Do not pass on this place the wait is worth it!

1st off, got the trofie pesto, insanely good. Spouse got the angry penne and we shared the salami and cheese appetizer. All of it was so good, but their pesto was my favorite. Signature though was the speed of service. I'd recommend getting there 10-15 minutes before they open if you are going for lunch. I line popped up very quickly, but they are very fast and so your wait won't be too bad if you do.

Pesto with potatoes and green beans. Ragú alla spaghetti. We also had rabbit and sausage.

This place was great. A traditional Trattoria Genovese. Pesto was amazing. Ragú was fantastic. Very nice staff. You either need to call for a reservation or be prepared to wait. This is a great spot that isn't tourist filed. Mostly locals. Amazing prices for amazing food!

I was in Italy for a few days with my son. It was Sunday and lots of places seemed to be closed. I yelped to see what would be open for dinner. I chose Cavour21 as they were close and looked laid back. Didn't want a stuffy place since I was dinning alone. Checked in and was seated immediately. Shares a table with a gentleman from Romania. Thought it would be weird but was awesome experience. Had the pesto. Shrimp and calamari with simple pasta blanco. Bottle of wine only €10. Highly recommend dining here for great local Genovese experience.

This restaurant was our favorite during our time in Genoa! The staff is friendly, sweet and helped us understand the menu. Everything was amazing! My boyfriend had pesto which he said was the best he's ever had, and we had it about 4 times during our stay in Genoa. It was soooo creamy and delicious. The calamari was amazing as well, everything was just perfect and the price is the cherry on top! Super affordable and tasty! We would recommend this place to anyone checking out Genoa. Such a gem! Also.. get the tiramisu, you won't regret it!

We also tried their special of the day which translated to "nut pasta" but essentially was a cacio e pepe with pine nuts, amazing, but can not compare to the pesto pasta. Trattoria Ugo is a completely legit and ultra-authentic eatery with a clientele that's more than 90 precent locals - that's how good the food is! The food here is nothing short of amazing and the portion sizes are so generous that it's almost impossible to go away hungry :-) Everything on the menu is wonderful, but I highly recommend the pasta with pesto. There's also a surprisingly broad wine list, and their house wine is very good, and really inexpensive - it pairs very nicely with the pesto. Water (both sparlking and still) is complimentary, and the service is outstanding - you'll have an incredible meal here! Tip: The portion sizes being as large as they are, I strongly suggest you pick either one primo or one secondo; if you get both it will be very difficult to finish.
