I enjoyed lunch so much I went back for dinner with two friends. For lunch I had pizza. I am a fan of good pizza, this was excellent. The crust was thin and had just the right amount of sauce l, cheese and toppings. I put chili olive oil on top and crushed peppers and added a great pop to the pizza. For dinner I had the lasagna al pesto. This had the green pesto sauce instead of a tomato ragu. Delicious! I'm going back to try some of the other specialties. Service was excellent, no waiting for lunch but dinner you should make reservations. Mostly Italian spoken, but proprietor also speaks Spanish. Very nice people. read more

Just finished dinner elsewhere and was looking for a dessert, coffee and a glass of wine. Stopped here as it is close to my hotel. Woman at the counter did not seat me but offered me the dessert and coffee to go. She Stated this is a pizza restaurant not a bar. Ouch! I understand the concept of her restaurant but her delivery was very discouraging. As an American visiting for the 1st time I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable. However I sucked it up and took my items to go minus the wine. I can tell this is not a normal thing as I was given the coffee in the equivalent of a plastic shot glass and a strip of foil paper covering it. She knocked me up for $7. I'll be here for 3 more days and will NEVER take the 3 steps it takes from my hotel to return. Even the two employees looking on were puzzled. Superb experience. Modernish but pleasant atmosphere; extensive menu & pizza options; multi-lingual staff with sensitivity intelligence caring & character; superb pizza. I got something on one of the chalkboards on the wall that had speck (an Italian cured meat much like black forest ham) and brie on a truffle-sauce base: artful construction; thin and delicate but loads of flavor; a work of art (both culinary and visual). Then I realized there was no price listed, and I started fearing the worst. But when paying on the way out it was still reasonable. The staff was incredibly friendly and answered all our questions. We were seated promptly at 7 pm right when they opened and all the tables were full by 7:25 pm. The Fresca pizza was loaded with perfectly ripe tomatoes, creamy buffalo mozzarella, and fresh arugula. I ended up eating the whole thing! The crust was crisp and crunchy. 2 pizzas and 2 glasses of wine was very affordable. Very happy with our dinner choice! read more

Our favorite place for pizza in Genoa. It's light, thin, high quality ingredients, many choices of pizza. I love the Fior di Bosco, for a non traditional pizza. Or the Bufala for the most typical one. We travel from Boston several times a year for business, and we come back to this place many nights each time. The owner is very welcoming, warm, caring lady. We happened upon this place after our round trip on the funicular. The waiter was welcoming and helpful. After he let us peruse the many pizzas, he asked if we would entertain a suggestion. Sure we would! He suggested and brought us a very thin crusted pizza with tomato sauce and buffalo mozzarella cheese. This was topped with mushrooms, olives, and very thin sliced ham that was placed on the pizza after it was baked. His suggestion included onions, but we declined. My wife recently had a pizza at "John's" in NYC and said this was every bit as good, but would not crown it the champion, as this was "different, lighter." Hmm. Personally, I think I'd go for lighter every time, but that's a matter of taste. This was a delightful experience in Genoa and I would highly recommend it. read more
