I asked him like this on August 17th around 8pm We have big problems ceiling light junction box is full of wires. We tried to change the ceiling light fixture but there is a live wire in the box. Even though we turned off the light there was still a live wire with damaged insulation and it sparked when it was moved. So we stopped and decided to call the pros. Need to have an electrical come and check it out to clean up the wiring and install the light. I was very scary and worried so couldn't sleep yet at last night. I needed someone to come to my residence to install an electrical outlet in hallway for the purpose of plugging in a night light for my doggo. Her shi-shi box is located in that hallway which is really dark so the nite light would remedy that. I had been using those battery operated push lights as a temporary solution. I was thinking the job would be fairly easy because there's an electrical outlet on the other side of the hallway wall (it's in bedroom) so all that would be needed is to install an outlet on the hallway side of wall than run wires from bedroom outlet to the new outlet. I called another company (not on Yelp) which I won't name and was told they could do the job at cost of $250 which sounded okay. I ended up waiting and waiting for someone to me call back to schedule the job. I got tired of waiting so I took to my savior...Yelp where I found this company. I called on a Thursday talked to Joe who scheduled an appt the very next day. Joe said cost is $145 per hour which was reasonable. The electrician Dan showed up promptly and got to work but not before figuring out how he was going to access the wall. There's a bed that's right up against the wall where he needed to drill and it would have been a lot of work in moving the bed (bed is attached with screws to a large headboard plus I have a bunch of junk under my bed..who doesn't) With Dan's quick thinking he decided to remove the box springs and mattress from the frame and stacked them to the side. He was extremely knowledgeable friendly neat and most of all got the job done in a little over one hour. I had intermittent power at my house. Problem was traced to the meter box failure on a 3 yr old house (?). HECO pulled the meter late at night and noticed a failed meter box due to corrosion (water & moisture intrusion). I checked yelp reviews and called EI Electrical for support as soon as they opened up. I wanted a legit company since this was the main power panel into the house. EI Electrical responded quickly (Joseph called me back), and Josiah arrived mid morning right after the incident. I coordinated with HECO to open up the meter box again to support Josiah's assessment and quotation development. Josiah waited for HECO to arrive and after looking at the situation inside the meter box he quickly had developed a quotation and had already checked for parts availability. Very efficient use of time while HECO was enroute (btw HECO's arrival can be unknown, 1 hour estimate can mean several hours of waiting). To be honest, the price of EI Electrical Quotation was on the high end but (1) having the technical expert there listening with me as a homeowner support on this complicated repair was comforting; (2) Josiah had checked and stated all parts were available, and; (3) Josiah also stated he had the manning to take care of this repair today AND he had discussed coordination efforts with HECO....all of this was a total go for me even though pricing was on the high side and I determined the quality of service was worth it. I signed the estimate and agreed to the repair by EI Electrical. If I had to get quotes from other sources and coordinate with HECO each time to open up the box, my home would still be out of power! Josiah and additional support arrived as scheduled and repairs were completed in a timely fashion. I coordinated with HECO to return to install the meter. Josiah stayed late (approx 10pm) to ensure the job was finished properly by HECO and to do some final testing/inspection to ensure repairs were completed properly. This was priceless in my opinion! Highly recommend EI Electrical! It was a long day of coordination with HECO. The repairs by EI Electrical was the easy part of a very long and hectic day when power is out unexpectedly. Josiah provided excellent customer service and I would ask for him specifically if I had another electrical issue (although I hope not!). read more

STAY AWAY! DO NOT HIRE!!! Rather pay an hourly fee. they make it seem like they're doing you a favor by charging a deposit for services and that it's cheaper than other electricians. Moriah showed up who is a 2 year apprentice, didn't know what she was doing, spent over 2 hours and accomplished nothing. Suggested we elevate to a journeyman. Obviously we needed to do that to get our ceiling fan working. Spent over $400 to "troubleshoot" the problem that took the journeyman 5 min to figure out what was the issue with the wiring. Not once did Moriah say that there would a charge to "troubleshoot" besides the work invoice of what was done. It was a simple wiring problem that took less than an hour to fix AND re-install ceiling fan. PAID OVER $1200 . Would not hire again. Who sends an apprentice SOLO. This company is NOT upfront on charges. your "deposit" doesn't go to the work done like they say it does, it goes to "troubleshooting". Absolute BS AND SHADY! Besides sending inexperienced employees to "elevate" the work order which thereby increases the price they charge you. CROOKS! read more

We had an oceanfront electrical box that had to be completely replaced. The box and screws were completely melted together. The electrician was able to surgically remove the box and replaced the old corroded box with a new beautiful functional box. There were some issues that they had to overcome and still, very professional from start to finish and the work looks like it came with the house. the only negative would be that they are not cheap, but i always believe that you get what you pay for and we got a great product! I was referred to this electrical company by Kama'aina Handyman, therefore, I thought it would be a reliable company to help us with our outlet electrical needs. I initially spoke on the phone with Joe. Instead of listening to my project needs over the phone, he said he knew what I needed and cut me off over the phone. Additionally, he said the estimate for this project should be a maximum of two hours ($145/hr). I had decided to move forward with the job since they informed me they could get this work done today. When the technician (Leonardo) showed up I received a text stating that the minimum service/trouble call rate is 1 hour, including travel time. This was never mentioned over the phone so I did not notice this text until the technician was already inside our house. He looked around and then informed us that he can't complete this job today. Then I called Joe again informing him of the situation and he told me otherwise that they could do the work today but the technician will have to wait an hour to get the parts that he needs because the office is currently closed. The hour that the technician had to wait was also on our time since it's considered a "travel time". However, if Joe had listened to me beforehand to make sure he had all the materials he needed, things would have been different. He could have had everything he needed upon arrival. Additionally, he was telling me this was going to be a five to six-hour job instead of the original "maximum of two hours." We could tell Leonardo was not experienced and we were shocked that the time estimate would extend to that many hours! We decided not to use them but was shocked he still charged us a minimum of 1 hour. I explained to him that this was not acceptable since it was not part of the original phone call but he said didn't you receive a text? Yes, I did but it was when the technician was already at the door. Too late for us to decline if we had wanted to. Joe said if this was not paid, he would move us on to collections. I ended up paying for the minimum one hour charge, but I really should've just filed a complaint to the collection agency. Overall, I would never use this company again. Very rude customer service and they sent out an inexperienced technician. Not only that, but they timed the text to get to me when he was already here so there was no chance to decline. I ended up finding another electrician and he ended up finishing the job in 20 to 30 minutes, he listened and brought the materials the first trip, and we were charged $140 (included his time and materials).
