We visited the tofu pudding shop twice in recent weeks. The tofu pudding hasn't been as silken smooth as it should be, and after those two visits, we confirmed we still think it isn't. The shop nonetheless is attempting to transform this basic, low-cost dessert into an upscale treat by offering multiple add-on options. The add-ons do make the tofu pudding more interesting, but they also reduce the amount of tofu pudding received because everything is packed into one container. And the add-ons don't improve the "mid" quality of the tofu pudding. We paid $11.98, including tax, in our last visit for a 32-oz container of "Classic Reunion Tofu Pudding" with Lychee Coconut Jelly. The staff member who took and fulfilled the order forgot the Lychee Coconut Jelly. Soybean Chan still sells basics, with a 16-oz container of tofu pudding costing as little as $3.81 with tax; a 32-oz container $5.99 with tax. The shop is geared for take-out, but there are two counter-height round bar tables for those interested in eating in. Same price cash or credit. Soybean Chan has another store in Elmhurst, NY, take-out only, which offers the basics at slightly lower prices, with similar, mediocre (though sometimes better), quality.

We looked for "Flowers by Andie" based upon the good reviews, but "Flowers & Bloom" seem to have taken over the entire business - same address and same phone number. The place seem to be run by women. The person that served us was very helpful and knowledgeable of Chinese protocols. She helped with writing the proper kinship on each bouquet. We chose bouquets from pictures of various ones and their pricing. She contact the funeral home to make sure we had the proper Chinese characters and English spelling of name of our deceased relative. She sent us pictures of the bouquets and the lettering on them to make sure we were happy with them. The arrangements were delivered early in the morning in time for the viewing. She and her staff were very helpful in an unsettling time for us.

The piece I wanted were 4 pieces of dried flowers in a vase... You cannot pick your own flowers to mix and match and they get mad when you want to look at multiple ones because you are taking up their time. I asked for an extra stem to be inspired in it and it was $8 for a dried stem leaf. I am not dumb. Do yourself a favor and just not come here.
