I did the single person group class, and I had the best time! Rafael is an incredible instructor, got me foiling on my knees and a little bit standing, which was incredible for my first time ever. I had the most amazing morning with E Foil Hawaii! It was my first time trying it and the instructor did a great job with the lesson and training before we got on the water. BEST NEW THING FOR EVERYONE TO DO IN HAWAII!!! When you visit or plan a trip to Hawaii, many people imagine surfing or learning how. However, traditional surfing can be limited to those old enough, but not too old, and those with great balance/coordination/swimming abilities. Not E-foiling!! E-foiling gives anyone of any age the ability to experience surfing, cruising over water, and being outside without the fear of drowning and being bad at it. If you can ride a lime scooter, you will understand easily how to stand up and "surf". If you can follow the three step prompts an instructor and video provides you can ride one even laying day or sitting (which is also very fun). Staying at the Royal Lahaina, it's right in the same area as many hotels with bathrooms right there if needed. If you are traveling with kids, grandparents, not so great swimmers, snowboarders, wake surfers, those who are timid to surf but want to try, this is the thing to do. The instructors are extremely personable and will truly walk you through each step. It's also very intuitive once you're out in the water. Lucky for us E-Foil was out on the beach when my daughter, wife, and I got swept far from the shore on stand up paddleboards. It's been one year since I was 'banned' from eFoil Hawaii after I wrote about the horrific experience myself and 12 friends had when using this service. The company promised, one month in advance, to meet us at a particular beach at a particular time, they then cancelled at 6AM the day of. And when I shared the true story online, the owner tried to cover it up by banning me from the service. I would sooner drown in shark-infested waters than ever deal with this company again. I really wanted to like this business. When it was advertised as "women-owned and women-run" here on Yelp (they have a badge for it) l was psyched! However, I was very confused as to why after a couple of calls I had yet to speak to a woman at this company. I've been visiting Maui for years and love to support local Hawaiian-owned businesses regardless but hearing Rhavie (or Rhavi) explain why no women were teaching the sessions because they were not as strong as men was so disappointing. I'm a very strong woman and I have carried heavy equipment. Why was he saying this? Why would you say that to a woman who wants to try efoiling? Is this a man's sport? I'm so confused. This is the worst service provider on Maui. I trusted them to provide eFoils for a large party. We pre-paid everything and made the arrangements over a month in advance. At 6am on the day of the event, they called with a bizarre story of how they were 'chased away' from the beach we were supposed to meet at and that they wanted us to go to a different part of the island at a later time. The new location was a complete disaster, we lost a lot of money and our event was ruined, would never recommend this group. read more

What an amazing experience for our family of 4 while in Maui! Highly highly highly recommend it! We had never tried hydrofoiling before and LOVED every minute of this experience. We stayed on Kaanapali and met the instructors five minutes up the road at Kahana. It was a beautiful spot to launch from. The instructors (Richard, Alika, Kai, and Tristan) were amazing. Richard took his time to explain how the technology works, and we felt super comfortable/prepared hitting the water as first timers on the boards. Our kids road tandem with Alika and had a blast. I enjoyed the first run so much, I opted to go out a second time before leaving Maui. It looks difficult/intimidating, but I was able to stand and foil the first time out and picked right up where I left off the second time out. You can do it! Called today looking to book for this weekend with a few of our local friends. Rhavie (sorry misspelled it the first time) was such a jerk on the phone about the inquiry for our local (with proper ID) friends, I'd rather do business at the other foil place. I picked this place because this one claimed to be "women owned and operated" yet...All the instructors are men and as Rhavie explained to me on the phone, "women just aren't strong enough", even the "fitness models" they have hired in the past. Hilarious, how mansplained I was from a "women" run business. I don't always look for women owned and operated businesses, but if I see that they are I'd like to support them. Rafael and this company do it right. Great communication, amazing teacher on the water, and fun to be around. Great communication, safety first. We had a wild weekend of huge swells, wind, rain and crazy weather for Maui. E-Foil Hawaii contacted us the morning of our tour to let us know it wasn't safe to be out on the ocean that day and offered to reschedule or refund us. We didn't have space in our remaining itinerary so we opted for a refund but we are SO thankful for their attention to safety and prompt communication. For context, this weekend had a wind warning (50+ mph gusts!) a high surf advisory with 7-10 foot waves and a small craft advisory for all islands. The weather had been perfect the week before and we just got unlucky. The ocean looked super scary and we were so relieved to hear that our booking needed to be moved. I have been eFoiling before and highly recommend it. Never tried it on the ocean yet. Definitely worth booking with these folks. They'll keep you safe! read more

As a first time rider, Richard and Kimo provided the best experience in learning how to efoil. They walked us through step by step instructions on how to efoil, and how to be safe. And they kept everything fun and lighthearted so that we all had a good time. My first day was incredible, despite the conditions being a bit rocky. I saw the potential and signed up for the next day at Sugar Beach - and it was so worth it. Not only was the ocean smooth and calm, but I was the only person to show up and Kimo and Richard ensured that I was able to take my riding to the next level. 1000% recommend taking a lesson with E-foil Hawaii ... Rafael and his team are great to work with in every way. I made a late decision to take a morning lesson and spoke to Raphael and team at E-foil to allow me to book. They were incredibly responsive and helped to answer all of my questions. I chose the Kahekili Beach (Airpot Beach) location on the North West Side of Maui but they offer few others. Great email instructions on where/when to shop up. I opted for additional drone coverage and that was a GREAT decision. On the day of my lesson, I got to the beach: *The boards were already set up and ready *E-Foil Hawaii uses high quality Fliteboard equipment and extra long (up to ~90 min) batteries *I was given a life vest, well fitting helmet, and given instruction on board and controller operation. All equipment top notch!!! *Once instructor (Matt in my case) came in the water while other (Rafael) stayed on land to operate the drone and watch belongings *They handled EVERYTHING (including getting the boards in/out of the water) leaving me to simply to enjoy my time. 1st class service *I felt safe and well looked after, the instruction was great, and I came out with even more love for the ocean and this beautiful island *We were incredibly lucky to see whales while out as it's whale season but a reminder to not get near these creatures with any vessel. Cut your engines and paddle if you want to see them a bit close! *After coming back in, once again all was taken care of for me by E-Foil Hawaii team! *I received the drone footage uploaded to my iPhone (or any device) and it included Baby Whale nursing from its Mom and a Honu turtle over the reef I can't wait to come back and e-foil with the team at E-Foil Hawaii. Just got back from doing this in Kahana and I couldn't recommend it more. Absolute ton of fun - just incredible technology and a totally unique experience. One thing to note is that, while it is really challenging, there are also levels so that you can really have a lot of fun whether you're a newbie or not. You can foil lying down, kneeling, sitting, or standing. I managed to foil in all the positions, but seated was actually the most fun for me, I could maintain flight for a long time, carve some great turns, and hit really high speeds. Standing was fun, but way more tiring and challenging, and I didn't feel I was missing anything by spending more time seated (on the contrary, I could push myself and the board more whole seated, so had more fun doing that vs standing for a short period before falling off). There were 3 in my group, all newbies, and we all foiled and had a great time. Don't let lack of experience put you off, and certainly if you appreciate the physics of foiling and how far battery technology has come you'll have a blast read more

My husband and I had a blast on E-foil Hawaii fliteboards while vacationing at Royal Lahaina Resort on Maui. We are technically seniors (60's), so don't be intimidated!! Rhavie and Rafael are the two nicest bruddahs on the shores of Maui!! Wow, E-Foil Hawaii is amazing. My son (15 years old) and I went e-foiling while on vacation in Maui. It was amazing. The ability to surf/foil without going through the hassle of paddling and learning to control the kite. The drone footage that the E-Foil Hawaii team took was amazing and even captured my most epic failure (fluke accident) that resulted in a few broken ribs. However painful - and I'm still recovering as I write this review, it was totally worth it. I would definitely love to go e-foiling again!!! It was awesome. read more

Lear to efoil. I cant encourage you enough to try this out with your group. I met the instructors at Kahana near S turns. Great beach. Very safe with an instructor in the water with you. All ages will enjoy. I did all my efoiling at Kanaha but Sugar Beach is another site they use. This is a great value compared to the mainland prices. read more
