We had already left because we live far away and had a small time window. He did the inspection without us there. The septic had a problem, but instead of failing it and letting us know, he made a deal with the homeowner to fix it for them. When we tried to call him, he did not answer for days. When he finally did, he was rude and said since we were not paying him anymore, he did not need to answer us. He never gave us the inspection report. The work he did on the septic was poor. He used cheap (rock-filled) soil. We had to spend another $1,000 to fix it. Save yourself the stress and do not use them for septic inspections.

Rather than back filling the sink hole with rock and making sure the ground was stable, he backfilled it with dirt which collapsed at the first big rain. He placed the Dbox at the edge of the sink hole, with the distribution pipe going across the sink hole. When the ground gave way, the system cracked and broke. When contacted, Chuck claimed this was not his responsibility. When I harrassed him enough, he came out and said the hole was not big deal, the system was fine and he'd fill it, which he never did. Got bids from two other companies both of whom said he failed to backfill the sinkhole properly before installing the system and that the pipes and dbox cracked. We paid the new company to do it right. Chuck Sweed is dishonest, does not stand by his work nor does he care about the customer. Avoid this company like the plague!

The same lady answered, however didn't remember me calling the first time so she had to get my info again. They were supposed to come yesterday afternoon, but they didn't show and didn't have the decency to call us to let them know they weren't coming. My husband called to check the status and they never called us back. Very disappointing and unprofessional. As soon as I started looking and actually put my information in the searches, I started receiving phone calls from different vendors. I got a call from Middletown Septic Tank Cleaning and spoke with the woman on the phone who told me what the prices would be for finding the tank, digging up the lid, and pumping and cleaning it out. I made the appointment for this morning at 11 a.m. I heard a truck outside around 10:30 and sure enough it was them. I spoke with Isaiah(Whitey) and John who were very helpful in answering any questions I had. I was amazed how quickly they found the tank and access cover in my yard. It wasn't anywhere where I would have thought it was. As Whitey told me he has been doing this for 50 years, I asked them what the proper timeline of getting it pumped, anything I can do to prolong the life of the system and they told me everything I needed to know. When all is said and done , the price was right where the woman on the phone said it would be almost to the dollar. I even bought a year supply of their recommended tank treatment product just so I have it. I couldn't be happier with my first time ever dealing with the septic system, the professionalism Middletown septic cleaning. I already have them in my calendar to do a cleaning and two years. The last thing I want to do is fix a failed septic system.

Despite not performing a real inspection, providing no written report, and giving only a vague, non-conclusive verbal explanation, he still charged the full quoted fee of $500 and dismissed my concerns by saying that this is just the nature of the business and that his camera cost $10,000 and he works in feces. Very unprofessional conduct, and I will never use or recommend this company to anyone. To make matters worse, a different company came out afterward, quickly found the actual problem, marked out the repair area, and promptly provided a clear repair estimate--exactly what I was expecting the first time

When we found out we were overdue, I called every septic company we could find online and by word of mouth. The woman who answered our call at koberlein was FANTASTIC. She answered every question we had about everything from what we needed to do, to what we needed for our community, to pricing and when their driver could come out. She explained that they do the inspection, and will pump if need be, but if it needed pumping, they ONLY charge for the pumping and not the inspection, which was WONDERFUL compared to other companies we called. Their prices were VERY competitive and we couldn't refuse the services. Today, their driver (Matt) came out and before he even got started he ensured I knew what exactly he was doing and what he needed to do. He talked me through every step of the process and the "what ifs" that were possible. Once he gave the all clear for our septic he gave me some tips and tricks to help take better care of our septic system and handed over all the paperwork I needed to show we had the inspection done and our system passed. As a first time home owner, we get a lot of crap for not knowing things, and people tend to "look down" on us for asking so many questions about things. I mean, we ARE first time homeowners and we're new at this. But koberlein didn't skip a beat in making sure we were confident with their services. They answered all of our questions, completely and honestly, and never made us feel like we were "silly or stupid" for asking. We will be koberlein customers as long as we own a home and will be recommending them to all of our homeowner friends! Thank you koberlein and thank you Matt for a wonderful experience!!!!!

Later that night he sent me a 7 sentence report with a doodle of the property, and said he'd send more once he figure out an issue with his software. I made the mistake of paying him before he sent over the full report, because it's been more than 2 weeks since he sent me his doodle and I never heard from him again - though I've sent him multiple emails, texts, and Facebook messages since. Since I didn't have enough details about the septic, I hired someone else to do another inspection. They charged $50 less, gave us many more important details about the system in person, and provided us with an 11 page in-depth report on the same day of inspection.
