I have been in multiple times with my Shih Tzu and only twice with my Chow. Though I can't complain…read moreabout issues in the past, my most recent visit has me thinking twice, and currently looking for another groomer. Long story short the issue was with my Chow, I paid for the Bath with furminator PLUS, ran me about $100. Prior to booking the appointment I read online the description of services so I knew which service would be best for my Chow. I drop them off and 4 hours later I received a call that they were ready. (No issue with the wait, Chows take a VERY long time to dry so I expected that). My issue was when I showed up to pick him up the lady who greeted me instantly told me "Next time you book you should really book with a groomer and get his sanitary areas trims". Now my issue was his was listed as INCLUDED with the bath prior to booking the appt (I knew this needed to be trimmed). I told her that I was fairly certain it was included and she told me "nope! Next time book with a groomer". (Lets be clear, I didn't request ANYONE, I booked services so if I needed a groomer to do what should have been included then THEY should have booked it with a groomer?). I walked away to go pay and looked up the services while paying....I was correct. Sanitary trim, feet /pads trim and ears were all included in the $100 service I was paying for. After paying I walked back over to the grooming area where I could now see my dog. NOTHING trimmed. His feet were a mess, she already told me they didn't do the sanitary areas and I assumed the ears hadn't been touched at this point. I showed her the service listing where it clearly stated everything that should have been included. This is where the real issue began. She completely dismisses me and tells me "Okay, great, next time book with a groomer." I told her it was a lot of money for me to already have spent and asked "how would I know who I have to book with, I booked a service, a service that includes XY&Z". She just tells me again, "yup, well next time you should call and try and book with a groomer." At this point I'm ready to ask for a manager, I paid for a service...it needs to be done. Luckily a groomer overheard and stepped in and said she would take care of it. She explained that often dogs who need just baths don't need trims as well. And though I totally understand that concept...it IS included in the service and if the dog does require it, don't tell me to come back and pay again. I appreciated the groomer who stepped in, that's why there is an additional star. And again, in the past I have had no issues with my Shih Tzu. However the ten min back and forth with the rude girl dismissing me even AFTER I showed her what I paid for. She is the sole issue why I don't feel comfortable returning there.

I was told to go towards the back & someone would be there to help. There were 2 groomers present but no one assisting waiting customers. I waited 15 - 20 minutes, no acknowledgement, no 'I'll be right with you', nothing, nada, totally ignored. Extremely poor customer service protocols, retraining of some sort very necessary. Left without being serviced. Attempt #2 - Logged in to make grooming appointment online; It says call grooming salon directly to make appt. I call, no pickup/ no answer. Attempt #3 - Grooming appt via Petco app; It says call grooming salon directly to make appt. I call, no pickup/ no answer. Attempt #4 - Reached out to 'Customer Care'; spoke to rep & was told they don't have access to book grooming appointments. Attempt #5 - Reached out to 'General Inquiries'; spoke with another Petco rep who escalated matter & attempted to reach Petco Middletown/ Galleria store manager(s). I am writing this review to give Doreen Biasi's AKC Dachshund NY my highest recommendation. The…read morebreeding practices here are excellent. The dogs are raised and live in the family home. The parents and pups are very well cared for and socialized. Her breeding adults come from all over the world to establish the best lines. Indeed, many of these dogs are among the best examples of the breed and are champions. The parents are genetically tested and the pairings are designed to rule out problem conditions. If you read about dachshund coat color genetics it is actually quite complicated, and indeed there are crosses that could result in health problems. Doreen explains on her website why some pairings are unethical for this reason. Aside from those technical considerations, the dachshunds here are just gorgeous. I mean, look at them! Just beautiful dogs! Just about every coat color you could imagine is represented in her crosses. Most importantly, Doreen is selective about which adults are bred in order to establish lines with the best temperaments. Some of her adult dachshunds compete in dog shows, where they place very well, often with the highest honors. I first contacted Doreen by phone to inquire about specific dachshunds that were available and to ask general questions. She answered all my questions very honestly and to the point, and helped enormously in narrowing down which dog was the best fit. We communicated several more times over the phone and by text and she was always responsive, helpful, and patient. The business is truly a family operation: her daughter Ashley helped me troubleshoot when I encountered a problem with making the deposit online. Ryan drove hours to deliver our dog, and was polite, good humored, and professional. I'll comment that the cost of the pups at AKC Dachshund NY may be higher than at other places, but when you consider the hundreds of hours of love, care and training that go into your future family member I think it is well worth it. In the end we chose Celeste, an 18 month old longhaired black, white and tan dapple. I couldn't imagine a sweeter or gentler dog. She is the perfect combination of playful, calm, and affectionate. She is also pretty quiet - she doesn't bark except maybe once or twice when the mail is being delivered. Her socialization prior to coming to our family was excellent. She is friendly with all people and other dogs, and especially sweet with kids. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her: the vet, doggy day care, visitors, etc. If you look at the videos on the webpage or facebook you'll see Doreen's youngest son playing with the puppies, and I credit him for Celeste being so good with children. She is also doing very well with training. She has brought so much joy and love to our family! When we are ready to get Celeste a friend, I would choose AKC Dachshund NY again in a heartbeat.

They did a wonderful job with socializing her and starting her off on training. The facility itself is beautiful. It's very clean and well staffed. My kids…read moredragged me over to their truck, and I immediately locked eyes with the cutest little puppy, a three-month-old Schnoodle. The moment I picked him up, I could feel practically every bone in his little body. He was extremely underweight, but because he was so fluffy, he appeared healthy at first glance. I brought up my concerns about his weight to the man I was dealing with, whose name I believe was Dwayne. I also questioned the cost and mentioned that they were selling these puppies rather than simply putting them up for adoption. He immediately became defensive and a little snippy with me. He raised his voice and said something along the lines of, "I've been doing this for years, and nobody is going to tell me they know more than I do." His reaction was completely unnecessary and raised a red flag for me. I initially decided it wasn't a good idea to get the puppy, especially considering they were charging almost $900 to supposedly "adopt" him. I've been a dog lover my entire life. I've rescued dogs, adopted dogs (never for such an outrageous amount), and purchased puppies from reputable breeders. I'm certainly not new to caring for animals. I walked away, and I cried. Seeing that little puppy in such a condition absolutely broke my heart. My kids and I continued walking around the flea market for another hour, but none of us could stop thinking about him. We just couldn't bring ourselves to leave him there. Something in me felt that this little puppy needed us, so we went back and purchased him. The man had me fill out the necessary paperwork, and I was assured that someone would call within seven days to check on the puppy and see how he was adjusting. That phone call never happened. Shortly after bringing him home, I took him to the veterinarian. Even my vet questioned where I had gotten him because he was so severely underweight. The vet ordered a parasite test, and sure enough, my puppy tested POSITIVE for Giardia, an intestinal parasite. I was absolutely furious and heartbroken. Dwayne had assured me that this puppy was healthy and had no medical issues. I immediately contacted the organization and spoke with a young woman. I explained everything, including the veterinarian's findings and the fact that nobody had ever followed up to check on the puppy as promised. Her response? "That's weird because we call everyone." Well, clearly, that wasn't the case! I left my name and phone number and specifically asked that Dwayne return my call. At the very least, I expected him to show some concern for the puppy he had sold us. I called on October 9, 2026. Today is October 27, and I STILL have not received a single phone call from anyone at this organization. Meanwhile, my puppy has had to undergo treatment with medication for Giardia and will need to be retested to make sure the parasite has cleared. What bothers me most isn't just the money. It's the condition this puppy was in, the assurances I was given about his health, the defensive attitude when I questioned his weight, and the complete lack of follow-up or concern after the sale. If you're going to charge people nearly $900 under the label of "adoption," I would certainly expect better care, transparency, and accountability. I'm grateful that my puppy is now in a loving home where he's receiving the veterinary care, nutrition, and attention he needs. But I can't help wondering about the other puppies. Please be extremely careful when dealing with this place. Ask questions, pay attention to the condition of the animals, and don't ignore your instincts. I'm sharing my personal experience because I would hate for another family or, more importantly, another innocent puppy to go through something similar.
