Second, they take self pay and for 200.00 I was able to have my skin checked, have several areas cryoed for AK's as well as a compounding rx written for my issue-I'm moving from Ironwood dermatology to Dyson due to the ease of making my appointment, the DR's knowledge and the professionalism and value offered here. Two years ago I was brought into a examine room and they still had dirty rags and used examination Biopsy tools on the tray next to me. Very unsanitary and unclean office. I let that slide, not wanting to complain. A month ago I went to have rash spots checked, they did 2 Biopsies and said they would call when they have results. After two weeks I called them and asked for the results. They said the will have some one call me back. Now a month later I had to call them back and was told they had the results a while ago, no call. They now said my rash was maybe bug bites, NOT. I am treating them myself with Cortisone 2% for Eczema and they are clearing up. They are a total ripoff and I wont ever go back. read more

First this rating exempts one of the really wonderful practitioners, Pat--but my understanding is that she does not practice here anymore. The support staff is also pleasant enough to work with, but it's really the core of the practices here that potential patients need to be aware of--especially if you are a self-pay patient like me. Long story short, I had to have a biopsy done, and I confirmed the initial price with staff several times, e.g. "so this is definitely the final price?" etc., which was always met with yes. I was quoted at a price around $100. Okay. First, the actual biopsy itself. There is one practitioner there who is straight up rude and condescending. When I was explaining concerns/asking questions, she was really short with me and impatient. With so many other practitioners to choose from--why deal w/this -ish on top of what I am about to share. It was much to my dismay and irritation that I received 2 separate bills from Dyson Dermatology--one was a self-pay bill of an additional $260, and then a separate lab billed me for over $450! I was able to talk with the lab to reduce it to a little under $300 because of the self-pay option, but it was absolutely absurd. I was (and still am) pissed. I talked to Dyson staff who really didn't take any responsibility, particularly when I brought up the issue of *no one* telling me what was really going down. They basically just told me I was straight up out of luck. If I knew that this was going to go down, rest assured I would have totally gone to another practitioner, surveyed my options, whatever--but being slapped w/all these fees--ain't right. I told them that I wouldn't be referring anyone to them whatsoever. So--if you have insurance that covers your visit here, maybe you won't have to go through this mess. But if you're self-pay: beware and go somewhere else. read more

I think Dr. Dyson is a wonderful and caring physician. Due to many skin cancer outbreaks (5 of them melanomas), I was getting a full body check every 3 months to stay on top of it. Due to the pandemic and other reasons, I completely neglected to schedule an appointment and one full year went by. I called today to make an appointment and cannot be seen until September. If my dentist calls me with a reminder to be seen, why can't my dermatologist do the same? In light of our aging population, I think it would be a terrific service to either text or email patients and remind them to schedule an appointment. I certainly would not welcome another melanoma occurence and I now I have to wait two months to find out. read more

I was seen by the nurse practitioner who did a biopsy and told me I would get a phone call with the results. A month later the wound had healed and the lesion was growing rapidly, so I called the office since I never got a phone call, they got back to me two days later and said I had a squamous cell carcinoma and needed Mohs surgery. Emma told me that my records said they had left two phone messages, entirely untrue. I never got a missed call or voicemail on my iPhone, and verified that they had the correct number. The NP who treated me didn't return my request for a phone call and apparently left for a three week vacation two days after my request. Someone dropped the ball and never let me know that I had a serious form of skin cancer which needed Mohs surgery, and very fast growing. I will not go back to this office again. read more

The visit was fine. What you would expect from a dermatology visit. My issue is for after my visit. I moved to another state, and since the pharmacy is a good 30 minute drive from me I submitted to have my RX transferred to a mail order pharmacy. I still had 3 refills remaining, but approval was needed to make the transfer. They didn't respond. So I called them. They said they would leave the request for my doctor. Nothing happened, so I continued to call every week for 4 weeks. Finally they told me that the doctor I saw had left, and no one else could approve it for me because they had not seen me as a patient. I wasn't asking for a new RX, I still have 3 refills remaining and I will fill them. But now I have to drive an extra 60 minutes out of my way and pay 3x more for my prescription than if they could just approve it to mail order. I think they just don't care. read more

Both my husband and I are patients at the Green Valley location. Yes there is always a bit of a wait. But that only means the staff is taking its time with the previous patient. You would want the same care. Tabitha has been our caregiver since the first appointment. We have had a number of skin cancer issues she caught and provided the necessary treatment. Dr. Dyson and her staff are very professional, kind and do a great job. Many dermatologists don't check your entire body from your scalp to your toes. I had talked about it for years but was never pushed to move forward with a BBL laser treatment. I recently had it done and the results were amazing and it was reasonably priced. I had sun damage in the form of unsightly brown spots all over my face, neck, chest and hands. The downtime was minimal and so was the discomfort after the treatment. I am so happy to have clearer skin and younger looking hands. read more

I called Dyson's office first week of January 2022. Explain my problem, red bumps on both legs and arms. Next available for me was 2/28/2022, not with Dyson but a technical individual. I waited until I saw those bumps got massively larger and connecting with all bumps within 6 weeks. Got into my primary Dr. same day after I explained the issues. He took a biopsy. Results were two weeks later reflecting COVID19. Think what I thought about the Dyson Dermatology. SECOND issue, my husband has been Dyson's Doctor for a few years handling precancer on his face. This was in mid December 2021 to have another procedure with approval by Medicare and United Healthcare. He called Dyson's office in January, February and now March and got the run around from Dyson's "It's in process for approval" This is way to long for an approval. He is now scheduled to see another Dermatology office. We hope none of his issues are now cancer. Our thoughts are Dyson Dermatology has over extended time frames as to when serious medical issues need attention, no long than 30 days. read more

The second visit I was forced to have a complete body check (more $$$). A year later I have a giant scar on my chest from their skin sample....it is quite noticeable. September 28, 2017 In the spring of this year (around March 2017) I had a scalp to sole mole check scheduled by my Primary. My primary care Doc sends me to Dysons for this check. Worst doctor visit I ever had. They moved and did not tell me. I had a few phone conversations before I ever had my appointment and I guess it was too much of a bother to tell me. I wind up going to the old office which was empty. I did manage to get to the new office in time for my appointment. The girl that checked me in with the usual paper work before any visit let herself into the room as the doctor (did not catch her name, she was young, very young) was going to start the exam. I had to undress with the extra warm body in the room. Felt very very uncomfortable. Why she was in the room, I don't know. Try that with a female patient and two males, it would be law suit time. The exam went fast, too fast to where now that a summer has past I am now concern about her missing any moles that may someday give me some trouble. I did look at the web site and FB page. This is a clinic that caters to mostly women with hopes of getting skinny & good looking with their check book. News Flash: want to get skinny shop putting some much food in your mouth and get some exercise. Which now brings me to why I waited so long to complain about my lousy visit, I riding my bike from the Loop up Craycroft passing your building. I ride the loop 3-5 times per week (back to that a little exercise thing) and today I was coming home and I said to myself it's time to say something, I was quite too long. So if you are looking for a dermatologist to just toss your money away you found it. That is one more reason why I think I was just blown off; I represented NO MONEY to this clinic. I went in there for an examination that took less than 10 minutes. I was charged $42.02 and was not told at all that that was not all I would be paying. I received an E-mail from an employee there saying I owed them $29.09 and replied that I was not informed of this at the time of payment. The reply I received said that the person would be checking with billing. Almost two months pass. I receive a phone call from a debt collector saying I owe this place $37.07 now. These shady, underhanded tactics to collect something I was not even informed of is enough for me to rate this place 1 star. Not recommended in the least. read more

Went in after a skin clinic friend recommended I get a mole checked out. I was very concerned about cost and thus discussed this with the physician and the MA. They assured me that it was a preventive measure and should not cost much. A month later I get a bill from the office for Over $200. Then I get a bill from pathology asking for another $100. Staff made me feel like I would be wasting their time if I didn't go through with the procedure and examination. DO NOT GO SEE THIS DERMATOLOGIST. read more

I have to agree with those who said that the people at Dyson Dermatology are friendly and helpful. All of the staff were very nice. About a month ago, I had Mohs surgery to remove a small skin cancer on my face. I'm an older person and know several other people who have had similar surgery. None ended up with the large prominent scar that I now have on my face. It is an "L" shaped scar that is about 3 inches in length. The corner of the "L" wasn't sutured properly, missing at least one and possibly two stitches. This had the effect of leaving a very prominent hole on my cheekbone. Even the PA who removed the sutures was taken back when she saw the results. It remains to be seen if the scar will reduce over time, But I suspect I will end up having to learn to live with it, or see a plastic surgeon to repair the damage done at Dyson Dermatology. read more

I had my first appointment with PA Tabitha (don't recall her last name) yesterday and in addition to being a very pleasant person, I can say that my exam was the most thorough I have had. I had a question about one spot and she said we would keep an eye on it and definitely call if any change before next appointment. I complimented her on the exam. I had some skin issues I wanted to remove and she gave me a thorough consultation and gave me the options that had the best results and were economical, as well.. I agree that the Doctors at Dyson Dermatology are very nice and I felt my husband was in good hands. The rest of the staff, however, are all incompetent. They put you on hold and forget you routinely. If they do answer, they transfer you to a dead end voicemail. The biggest beef I have is their billing department. We made 4 payments during the course of treatment totaling $168.00. None of those 4 payments were reflected in the final bill. After several phone calls and some correspondence, they never could show me those 4 payments. They sent me a very confusing print out that after using a highlighter and a calculator, I was able to determine that they did apply those payments at different amounts on different dates that they were made. I paid the bill, but will never go there again. read more

2222 N Craycroft Rd #100, Tucson, AZ 85712 location I paid what they said I owed and then they sent a bill for more! I was seen by Ferrer for almost exactly 10 minutes. (I recorded the visit; I know the time Ferrer was in the room with me.) Just a head to toe check. Done. I asked on the phone at the time of scheduling the appointment AND before I went into the exam room how much the visit would cost. I only got an "It depends." vague answer both times. When I came out of the exam room, I had to wait a few minutes until the receptionist could tell me how much the payment would be. $42.02. Fine. I received a bill in the mail for $62.08! What? There was NO indication that I would be charged further. I have never paid a plumber, massage therapist, hairstylist, mechanic or any other service person for services rendered and gotten another bill later saying I owed more!! So, what makes Dyson think it is OK for them to do it?!? I see on the bill that I received a "self-pay discount". $208.20 for 10 minutes. And, then the self-pay discount is 1/2 that? Why isn't there any standard of billing so that all would know that it's $208.20 for a 10-minute office visit? I would've paid the $104.10 at the office after the exam if I had been told that's what I owed. But, they just don't get to arbitrarily send me a bill saying they didn't charge me enough at time of service. Their problem, not mine. By the way, I was very pleased with Ferrer and felt good when I left the office. Sent positive feedback for the survey. I'll never use their services again, though. Later...I sent them a letter stating the above and they sent me to collections. read more

Arriving at 10:00 am in the morning for a 10:15 appointment, the waiting room was stacked up with people. Another patient/customer loudly said she had already been waiting 1/2 hour. One of the ladies at the front desk informed another person that Dr. Dyson was already 30 minutes behind (truth be told, probably much more behind). Again, this was at 10:15 in the morning! As important as it was to discuss my skin cancer (Mohs) surgery, there was no point to wasting my morning away so I left. I had been through this same issue with Dr. Dyson a few years ago so I know this was not a one-time event but is a policy of overbooking I was disappointed to see that she still abuses her patients this way. It is, unnecessary, stupid and very disrespectful of other people. Customer service is a part of patient care and, if you fail at customer service, you have failed at providing the best patient care. I realize that a medical practive is not like a real business so I am sure she will, undeservedly, continue to make a lot of money. But she will do so without me as a patient/customer. read more

I began going to Dyson Dermatology because my husband was already a patient. He's from Australia (very prone to skin cancer) and had cystic acne as a teen. He does not do anything cosmetically and basically judges a dermatologist by how thorough they are. Dr. Dyson is incredibly competent and always ensures issues are addressed and concerns are tended to immediately. They do have a questionnaire that talks to cosmetic issues if that's something you are interested in but they never bring it up unless a box was checked on the in-patient questionnaire. I have eczema issues and Dr. Dyson has always been very thorough and detailed in examinations. I recommend getting an early appointment. My father was a surgeon and unfortunately if you have an afternoon appointment with most doctors you may find yourself waiting (patient appointments can take longer because of issues needing attention and I'd rather stay with a doctor who gives patients the time needed - even if it means I end up waiting an extra 45-60 minutes).
