Tom Yum Soup: I got this rendition with tofu, since it takes on whatever flavor it's infused with. Now, we've had Tom Yum broth at our favorite Hot Pot restaurant in Londonderry. Well, this one had a slightly spicier finish and, more importantly, better seasoning. We were pleasantly impressed! The spice takes some getting used to so, I'll give this one a 9 out of 10; would highly recommend! Surf n' Turf Roll: I'm pretty sure this one was a special or something because it's not anywhere on the regular menu. Regardless, this one was surprisingly tasty! I've honestly never had sushi with beef in it before. But this one definitely worked! I don't really have any complaints about it so....10 out of 10. Lobster Salad Roll: Now, I actually prefer this one to the previous roll; mainly because I'm a seafood freak. Simple, yet highly palatable and refreshing. It's basically lobster meat rolled with various vegetables and rice, of course. Pairs cleverly with soy sauce. 10 out of 10. Fried Japanese Rice with Shrimp: Here's where dinner slightly derailed for me. I didn't know what exactly to expect here since everyone's version of fried rice varies. I'll tell you what I DIDN'T expect though--a lack of flavor. This rice was tragically bland with some of the tiniest shrimp I've seen in a while. Moreover, the shrimp themselves appeared to be steamed rather than pan seared (I'm partial to grilled personally, but that's neither here nor there). It was okay, but definitely not worth a revisit. I'm sorry. But if I can make better fried rice at home, that's an instant 'L' for me. 4 out of 10; would not get again. In hindsight, I really should have tried the Tempura Shrimp with Vegetable Rice. At least white rice is innocuous enough not to screw up. Probably. Eh, like I said - we shall return one day. I would come back for that roll alone. At $15.50 per roll, it's not cheap, but it's 100% worth the cost. The don curry was also really good and my friend said she'd come back for this dish any time she's in town. She actually ordered curry to try to recreate this at home while we were waiting for the check. Service was fast and friendly. We have nothing but great things to say about it. Next time we will try hibachi.

Walking in, we're immediately greeted with an aura of elegance. The entrance consists of a grand standing lobby featuring a self playing piano, adding to the opulent atmosphere. We were able to get a table within mere seconds after they verified our reservation. The dining room LOOKS nice and has a great view, from what I understand (it was dark that evening, so we couldn't enjoy the view). Too bad I can't say the same for the acoustics. Out of the many fine dining restaurants I've visited in my life, Prime may possibly be one of the noisiest. I think it's because the tables are too close together. Which means you can almost hear entire conversations at the table next to yours. It's why I never travel in public without at least one pair of earbuds. Misophoniacs UNITE!! XD Now, I'd like to give a shout out to the waitress who took care of us that evening (I really wish I didn't suck with names so much). Service was stellar, overall. After receiving our drinks, we ordered the following.. Appetizers: Got the crab cake and clam chowder. Now, I just need to mention...our waitress had us at, "it's pure crab, no breadcrumbs". Both our eyes lit up as I said, "Yup. We'll take it!". Guys. I gotta tell ya....not a lot of restaurants can make a crab cake properly. Yet, Prime nails it! This thing was f#*!ing delicious! I dare say it may possibly be the greatest crab cake one can buy anywhere in the state of NH. And I will stand by that claim until or unless I discover better elsewhere. The clam chowder is in a league of its own. I often say how the very best chowders are the ones you don't have to add any additional seasoning to. This one totally slaps! Creamy, savory, made with REAL fresh clams. The cheesy bread they give on the side pairs brilliantly with the chowder as well. Solid 10 out of 10 for both apps! Mains: Wifey and I stuck with our favorites, getting a filet and ribeye, respectively. Describing the taste of these should be brief, since they seem to season all their steaks the same way. While the temperatures were absolutely spot-on, they could have used a bit more seasoning for our preference. However, we didn't see the need to send them back and just sprinkled some salt over the steak instead. Ch'yeah! Forgot to mention...this is one of the few fine dining restaurants that actually leaves the salt and pepper shakers on the table. Inconceivable! :o Got the lobster mac & cheese as the sharable side. And, uh....I think we were totally spoiled by RC's version of this. Because what Prime does here is....unique. The cheese (which I STILL cannot identify yet) was so mild, I truly believe the chefs were going for a subtle flavor. If done properly, it can actually give a delectable impression to the palate. Few extra dashes of salt, the whole thing was quite tasty! My one complaint here though: lobster meat was lacking. Normally, the ratio should be something like 70/30, macaroni's favor. This version was more like...85/15. Side's an 8 out of 10; steaks would both be a 9 out of 10. Dessert: Last, we have the peanut butter pie. I decided to take this one home, since I already felt like a pregnant whale by this point. Simply put, this pie was nothing short of sublime. Rock hard chocolate frosting aside, this was a 9 out of 10 for me. It's worth noting an 18% service fee is automatically charged to your total bill. So, take that into account when tipping. I'm not totally sure why they do this regardless of party size. Nevertheless, we made sure to close the gap, so to speak, on the gratuity by adding in an additional 7%. Service was just that good! Whilst I'd love to be able to give this place a perfect score, I honestly can't when considering the noisy ambiance of the dining area and lack of lobster portioning in their mac & cheese. That's not to say, however, that Prime is anything short of an amazing dining experience. I'm giving Prime at Sky Meadow 4 stunningly sweet chocolate peanut butter pies that melt in your mouth, not on your fork, out of 5.

Wasabi Shumai: Nice nasal jolt. Softer, looser, wetter, more finely ground inner texture than typical. Not warm at all. A little below average. Egg Rolls: Crisp outside, moistly stringy inside (in a good way), with decent flavor. Could use more stuffing, and it's cabbage based (some hate, but I don't), but it worked. A little above average. Moo Shi Beef: Big, tender beef chunks in surprising abundance-- around 70% protein, which is practically unheard of. Vegetables crunchy and moist, as opposed to swimming in liquid. Four pancakes were enough. Above average. Mongolian Beef: Another surprise here, as it arrived sizzling. More big chunks of tender beef, sitting atop onions and other vegetables beneath. House Fried Rice: Light brown grains, but plenty of beef, pork, and shrimp to add both flavor and moisture, taking it to a middle ground between subgum fried and yang chow. Egg Roll: Golden, crunchy outside, crunchy inside, and moist. Mostly cabbage, with celery and an unusual flavor from five spice but closer to allspice or nutmeg. No protein I could discern. "And for that reason," as the Shark Tank investors like to say, I'm pegging this one as merely average, but a very interesting average. I'd still get it again. "Andy" Wings: An appetizer offering a spicy alternative to the regular wings, striking me as what Kowloon's Saugus Wings could be if Kowloon still cared enough to put effort in. Scoldingly hot, fully coated, lightly breaded, bumpily crisp even under the thick hot sauce, and flanked by an assortment of hot peppers, onions, and I think minced garlic. The sauce blended oyster or black bean sauce with garlic, sugar, and heat. Impressive preparation on the wings, "Frenching" them into lollipops to expose the ends of the bones (no meat is removed; they push it up to make a plumper formation). I've seen that before with the drum parts, but here they did that even with the flats. Inner meat not quite juicy but definitely moist. Elite for sure. Sweet and Sour Chicken: Ordered requesting sauce on the side per my eating buddy. The chicken fingers were fairly standard (as are roughly 80 percent of the fingers out there), so no praise, no faults. Meat-to-batter typically on the somewhat low side. Batter flirting with puffy while still crisp. Sauce closer to ruby or brick in color than typical, while also closer to straight sweet than sweet and sour. Zero glop. Nice inclusion of onion and pepper in addition to the pineapples. Overall, average. Pork Fried Rice: Not the 1970s by any means, but probably the best PFR I've had in the past year. I've had darker in the past year but not better. Good feel that felt better--moist to the brink of greasy but not quite--than the color would suggest. Onion, egg, bean sprouts all included. Pork nuggetry impressively dense. Took me back to the fried rice glory days of my childhood. Came back a week later, tried it again, and it was even better. Great flavor, great texture, unquestionably elite. Spareribs: The wings and rice arrived first and the server said the spareribs would be out in a bit. For this reason, I'm guessing they felt guilty that the ribs weren't ready and brought them out possibly too soon. So I'll start with the biggest flaw: the surfaces were light on char and lighter on crust, feeling like they weren't really ready yet. That said, there was a lot to like, most notably the very meaty cut, the scored surface, and the gushing juices. Pinkish red glaze very lightly applied, with a brown puddle from a different flavorizer underneath. A little on the fatty side, but another few minutes under the broiler would take care of that too. Gonna say above average this time, but I can envision another try coming in at near-elite. Chicken Wings: Had to give the basic version a test drive on visit 2. Six jointed pairs (drums and flats) to the order, so 12 pieces for $12.95, barely more than a buck a wing. I'm not into breaded wings, but these were breaded, although lightly. Decent crunch, but not much going on flavorwise on the surface. Inside, fully moist to juicy and noticeable flavor from five spice and maybe even hints of curry. Well above average but not elite or near-elite. Good enough to get again. The scorecard: two visits, six items, two average, one above average, one well above average, and two elite. In Dracut, of all places? Who'd a-thunk it?

I usually get the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls along with other stuff. The tuna and salmon just don't seem fresh. They're not horrible but also not great compared to other places. The last time I ordered, i also got shrimp tempura rolls for my daughter. There was nothing in the roll except for the tempura shrimp which was extremely hard to chew. Even my daughter didn't want to eat it or could eat it. However, the place does offer other types of food as well, which I've not had so I can't comment on them.

We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. I went with the salmon special and thought it was good. I also tried some of my partner's fried rice, which was also tasty. Now, I can't tell whether it's pure nostalgia or merely personal preference. But that place has since been what wifey and I consider to be the "gold standard" for what hibachi should taste like. It's been nearly 15 years and our opinion hasn't changed since. So, when we happen upon a place like Wasabi, we're certainly gonna notice and criticize culinary anomalies such as not using so much as an OUNCE of seasoning on any of the proteins, veggies, or rice. Oh, and spoilers up front - it's never a good sign when the appetizers outshine the main course. Lobster Rangoon: I'll be honest here. I never knew anyone offered Lobster Rangoon until we came here. I suppose it was inevitable sooner or later; a logical ingredient to use, if not crab. Well anyway, this app was pleasantly superb! Unfortunately, it's also where the evening peaked. Nevertheless, it's a 9 out of 10, highly recommend!! Clear soup: Normally, I never even bother giving this its own paragraph. I just wanted to highlight my first impressions rather quickly to say, while not ALL bad, it was mostly lacking in flavor whilst simultaneously harboring a hint of spice. All that's to say...there's not a lot going on here. I guess I should have asked if substituting soups was an option here. It's...whatever. 3 out of 10. Lobster and steak: Okay. A few things of note here - there's apparently no option to upgrade your cut of steak to filet as with most other hibachi restaurants. So, I assume this was a top sirloin of sorts. Naturally, I got mine mid-rare and it's a good thing, too. Because despite its ostensibly rubbery texture, I can't begin to imagine how tough its exterior would have been were it cooked well done. And no...there was zero seasoning added to it, outside of soy sauce, some butter, and a bit of minced garlic. Whole thing tasted like bland puppy chow. Fortunately, the half cup or so of additional soy sauce *kinda* saved it. 4 out of 10. Now, the lobster tail and appetizer shrimp were slightly better, mostly due to the added dash of lemon during cooking, combined with how well it pairs with the yum yum sauce. But once again....not an ounce of seasoning could be damned. What a let down! 5 out of 10. Fried rice: here's where I usually can gauge pretty quickly where the chef stands in their ability to season food. It's normally the first thing to come off the grill. But I left this one for last because this is, funnily enough, where the majority of that soy sauce you see in my "after" photo went. It's like the chef went out of his way to add the absolute minimal amount of flavor possible to the rice. It's nights like these I wish they were the type of place that left salt and pepper on the table. Oh, and I've NEVER been much a fan of peas in fried rice, much less peas at all. After adding about half a bottle of soy sauce, this one's a 4 out of 10 for me. Look, I don't want or like to lament on places like this. After all, hibachi holds a special place in my heart. Hell, even the service was fairly decent. But cordiality can only get you so far if the product you're serving is mediocre as hell and ineptly prepared. The one GOOD thing I can say about this experience is at least we know there's no need to travel so far to get decent hibachi. Ergo, we'll be sticking to the likes of Sakura and The Seafood King in Nashua and Manchester, respectively. Wasabi in Salem gets 3 steak & lobster dinners in desperate need of seasoning out of 5.
