His mixes are unlike anyone else's. He is SO MUCH FUN and had every single person at our wedding dancing the ENTIRE NIGHT - no matter their age! He had something for EVERYONE and EVERYONE agreed that his set was better than any dj they've ever heard play, wedding or otherwise. Additionally, Peter is a SWEETHEART and just an all around standup guy. He is a wonderful, patient, kind mannered, funny person and should win every award. Not only was he so collaborative, so as to make sure the songs we wanted were played, but he included songs that made it so no one left the dance floor at any point. He has a deep knowledge of the eras of music we were interested in (70s; 80s; 00s) and just seamlessly blended them. He was such a pleasure to work with and just unbelievably talented and kind!

For us, music was our top priority- we wanted to dance the night away (followed by great food, venue, décor etc.). Our one true desire was to have a great time and 5 Star Entertainment truly made that possible. We were very nervous about booking a DJ, (since neither of us had ever really done that before) and while we have been to quite a few good weddings, when we priced out our friends DJ's they were A LOT more expensive (and I remembered that they played the electric slide- despite our friends request so we were nervous that that same kind of mistake would occur at our wedding and we decided to do some research, and the reviews about Five Star were all very good and people reiterated that they really listened to them/followed their instruction and we liked reading that). Five Star Entertainment is a Knot pick, which we liked since clearly The Knot is the equivalent of a bride's bible, the go to place and they did not disappoint. We filled out paperwork, had a definitive layout for how we wanted to be announced, when we'd do the toast, the dances, certain songs that were "must plays" for us, as well as "don't dare play" songs and George really listened to us. I had an idea for our entrance and he made a mix that got the night started off right, he took my idea and cultivated it into something that blew my original suggestion away (while keeping with my idea). The dance floor was packed all night long with music ranging from disco to house. Our wedding was filled with a variety of different age groups, but none of that seemed to play a role in who was/wasn't dancing -matter of fact, I think EVERYONE was dancing. At one point a guest requested a song, which he put on (it wasn't a do not play, it just wouldn't have been a song I would have chosen but it def fit in with the freestyle 80's thing that was on at the time) I made eye contact with George, which was surprisingly easy to do in a room full of people dancing and he immediately mixed in something else- which gave my friend a small portion of a song she wanted to hear, while also giving me the ability to nix it (lol) and the confidence that he was in touch with us. Obviously everyone thinks their own wedding is the best wedding ever (or at least I hope that is how they feel) not only did we feel that way, we were flooded with calls throughout the week after the wedding and beyond with people telling us the same thing. People had a wonderful time and the phrase" best wedding ever" was used repeatedly. That night surpassed my wildest dreams, expectations and Five Star definitely played a pivotal role in making that night remarkable. Tommy MC'd that night and he was great. He too had his eye on us all night long to make sure we were content with the music selection, the timing of everything and while I felt like he was always present- he wasn't obnoxious with the microphone (I hate when you go to a wedding and the MC doesn't shut up), he wasn't trying to dance with the guests (another pet peeve of mine), they weren't drinking etc. They were all extremely professional. They arrived ahead of time, set everything up in t-shirts and jeans and were decked out in suits and ties before you knew it. He gave us a preview of our montage, a piping hot entrance remix and the packed wedding dance floor of our dreams. That night was magical, good friends, food, decor and GREAT music. If you are like us and you love to dance and are booking a DJ for the first time, or the first time in a long time, go with Five Star Entertainment-. Mark is very friendly and we had great communication leading up to our wedding day. He's known for playing requests at the wedding, which our guests loved! He played a mix of songs that we provided him with and guest requests, and we all had a fantastic time on the dance floor! Plus he was affordable- we feel like we got an amazing value for all of his hard work! I highly recommend Mark for your wedding or next event.

Need to replace sound system with system with low distortion at high power levels and tighter 8 inch woofers to reduce the booming. Please turn down audio level to tolerable OSHA sound levels. Had to wear ear plugs. Was concerned about hearing loss for my three grand daughters. Cassette tapes may be too strong in the mid and low frequencies, exacerbating the sound system quality problems. They so thoroughly enjoy what they do and that simply makes it impossible for you not to enjoy their music! From the very first email I exchanged with Solange she was unbelievably kind, patient, and very on top of things (which, trust me on this, is exactly what you want in all your wedding vendors). She proactively reached out at every turn to make sure she was 100% certain she knew the exact timeline of all of the day's events so that everything could run smoothly. And it did! Aside from being a wonderful person to work with, and an INCREDIBLE vocalist, Solange's joy is infectious so if you're looking for all the right vibes on your big day, Hip Control is the right choice! She even coordinated with the band to have them learn a song my dad wrote me 20 year ago and play it as a surprise father daughter dance. As for the rest of the band? Good luck keeping your jaw off the floor as they crush killer guitar solos, harmonize like angels and hit 5 key changes in Love On Top. The only thing I could say at the end of the night was "we're not worthy!!!" and two weeks later, that's still exactly how I feel!

Musically, they are amazingly tight and sound incredible. what sealed it for me was their versatility. they did latin authentically and of course pop/dance/rock/ballads perfectly. i would highly highly recommend them for events. Solange is a great band leader as well as an amazing front woman for the band. my guests were dancing the whole night and everyone loved Hip Control.

It was all perfect--from cocktail hour bossa nova, to learning and crushing our first dance song, all the way to the most incredible rendition of Unwritten by Natasha Beddingfield that had every single wedding guest up on their feet and scream-singing at the top of their lungs.
