My son has been taking lessons here since he was 5 (he's 10 now). This is a great music school. I…read morereally like that they use music that is accessible to kids. He loves playing what he hears on the radio. They've also helped put together a band for him to play in. Their end of the year "recital" will be at the Filmore in Silver Spring and my son has also played at the Strathmore. There's really no school like it in the area. Highly recommend it. My son has also done the summer camp. He started singing and played drums since the camp. At camp they also make a demo CD. It's great to hear how much they can accomplish in a week. And he's going back again this summer.

Before the camp started, parents received an email explaining the logistics, and everything seemed organized. However, we quickly realized that the staff did not seem to be aware of, or follow, much of the information included in the email. For example, the email stated, "Hours - For your convenience, the school will be open as early as 8:50 AM for drop-off." However, every day, parents had to sit with their children until a teacher let them into the classroom at 9:30 AM. Additionally, on 3 out of the 5 days, the teacher was either late or did not show up. On the first day of camp, I went to pick up my son and was waiting in the designated area. I heard a child screaming and crying for his dad. It sounded like my son, but I couldn't imagine why he would be wailing like that. I then realized it was my son. He had been trapped in the bathroom and was drenched in sweat. We were told that the children had a buddy system. Unfortunately, his buddy had already left, which I understand can happen with 4- and 5-year-olds. However, I was very concerned that no teacher had checked on him until they heard him crying. Thankfully, he was okay, but it was a very upsetting experience for him and for us. At the end of camp, the children were supposed to have a performance. The initial email stated that students would come home on Monday with information about the performance, but we received nothing. The children ended up performing one song, "We Will Rock You," and the performance seemed very rushed and only partially planned. There were no instruments involved, and the teacher was not present. The entire performance lasted less than 10 minutes. The woman in charge that day, who was not the teacher, had the children get off the stage. One of the children asked about another song, and she quickly explained that they were not going to perform it because many of the children did not know it yet. The email also stated that the children would receive a camp T-shirt and come up with a band name. Neither of those things happened. The email also said that a recording would be sent to us of the performance-I highly doubt they will follow through. I realize that I was not present in the classroom during the actual camp sessions, so I cannot speak firsthand about everything that happened during the day. However, based on the lack of organization, communication, and preparation we experienced, we did not feel that the camp provided the experience we expected. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and would not recommend this camp to other families.

Kevin Layton, director of the girls program and a coach, is a nightmare, incredibly unprofessional. He has no self control and has literally yelled at players and kicked soccer balls at them until they cry. He has temper tantrums on the field and pits players against each other. This does not build character or team unity, obviously. Multiple complaints against him have been raised to the BOD, who do nothing. Many, many talented players have left the club. Avoid at all costs - there are many more professional and successful programs in the area (just move to VA...it's not that far away) That said, there are still some good coaches at the club, but - the BOD is biased and the head of the girls program is a crazy man.

Love love love this daycare! It's the best and I recommend it always to all my family and friends…read more The place is wonderful and very welcoming. My son had some bad experiences at another daycare and it made him really scared to go to any daycare. On the first day he tried it out he didn't want to leave and it's been that way ever since. I have been with this daycare for 3 years and I'm very satisfied with my experience. The staff is wonderful, welcoming, understanding and very helpful. The director Danielle is amazing!! She's understanding and anything you have an issue with or anything you need you can talk to her. My son has many favorite teachers but Mrs. Adriana is the BEST! Shes an amazing teacher and care taker. This daycare also works with an app that allows the teachers to tell me how his day is going with pictures and I can see the schedule for the day. When my son was younger and still potty training I got updates when he used the potty as well! I also loved the safety they had. Every room has a camera so the director can see what's going on in each classroom. Both the door to enter the building and the door to go to the hallway to get to the kids have a code on it, double security so not anyone can just get in. You get a lovely tour of the place and on the holidays they do special crafts and parties. They do before school and after school care and pick up kids at school too. They also do class pictures and "school" portraits so you can purchase lovely photos of your child. Again I can not recommend this place enough! If your thinking about it , take the tour because you get all the information you need and you won't regret it.

When I got through the doors the halls reminded me of a health institution for mad people. I did not see colors.... I did not feel a good vibe. The tour was short because honestly they don't have too much to offer. It's sad because they want you to pay $1420/month for a 3/4 year old M-F for that?? I don't think that's worth all that money. It should be cheaper. They only have one room for 3 year olds and a tiny play outside area. Sooooo tiny. The classroom was a bland boring tan color. That center needs some life. It smelled horrible in the classroom I went to. When I got in there? I was ready to leave. The teacher Ms. Jessica? I believe....was a doll. I like her... some other company needs to take her to another place because her personality doesn't fit the building. I may have came on a bad day? I don't know? But they are a no on my list.

My Experience With Kids Co. as Both a Parent and a Staff Member: Disappointing and Damaging…read more I've seen Kids Co. from both angles first as a parent trying to find a safe, supportive environment for my child, and later as an employee working inside the system. I wouldn't recommend this organization to anyone. What they sell to the public is not what they actually deliver. As a parent, I initially trusted Kids Co. because of how they advertised their programs caring staff, structured activities, and a focus on child development. But the reality didn't match. Communication was inconsistent. My concerns were brushed off. The staff seemed overworked, unsupported, and constantly changing. There was no stability for the kids, and very little effort to build a real relationship with families. Then I joined the staff, thinking maybe I could be part of the solution. Instead, I found out how deep the problems really go. The leadership is dismissive, disorganized, and disrespectful. The CEO and managers don't want feedback they want obedience. They push a culture where staff are told to smile and perform, while behind the scenes they're ignored, overworked, and underpaid. The environment wasn't just toxic for employees it hurt the kids, too. Corners were cut. Ratios were stretched. Resources were minimal. And when parents had questions or issues, staff were told to deflect or stay quiet. I saw families treated unequally, especially those from marginalized backgrounds. There was no serious effort to practice equity or inclusion only empty talk. What was most heartbreaking was realizing that many of the kids and parents who came in hoping for help were being underserved and taken advantage of. This wasn't a place built on care or commitment. It was a business model focused on contracts and appearances, not community. I left feeling disrespected, disappointed, and angry that families are still being misled. I've seen the damage this organization causes from both sides. And I strongly believe Kids Co. should not be allowed to partner with Montgomery County Public Schools or operate in any public space until major changes are made. They need new leadership, real equity training, and full accountability. Until then, they will keep failing the very people they claim to serve.
