Bob, as he calls himself, is an older guy who works at the Greenwood store and I'm assuming he's a manager because he had an ear piece in. He is ridiculously arrogant and rude. As soon as my wife and I came in he asked if we needed help, I told him we were just looking and thanked him.
He then made comments about how tight my jeans were and in a sarcastic bitchy tone, said "we don't make those types here" and sniggered. I told him I'm unsure of what I'm looking for and that I'm going to try a few different pairs on to see what fits good. He basically stood right next to us, the whole time we were looking, just watching us. It was like he wanted us to leave and made us very uncomfortable.
Again, he said "have you found anything" after us maybe looking for 2-3 minutes. I quickly picked out a few pairs hoping that he would go away, he did not.
After trying them on, they were too big so my wife got me a few smaller sizes. I found a pair that fit my waist good but they were almost like flairs at the bottom of the leg. No matter what pair, brand or fit I tried on, they flaired out at the bottoms.
He then remarked that they don't really make jeans for people that are odd shaped and that they only make jeans for people with straight down figures who are proportioned. My response was that no ones ankles are the same size at their thighs, so that makes zero sense. He was basically insinuating that they don't make clothes for fat people. Which is not true. The whole point of the store is for big or tall people.
He then said well I'm sorry we can't find jeans to fit you and then walked off giggling.
I went in there hoping to spend 4-500 dollars. I haven't bought clothes in a while and I needed some nice new stuff for the summer because my parents are coming over from England. I'll never ever shop at DXL.
This was my first time visiting a store. After looking at the stuff online, I thought it would be nice to go and try stuff on.
I was in there maybe 15 minutes and in those 15, I was humiliated by a member of staff and made to feel like I was a 2nd class customer because of my weight.
Even my wife could not believe how he spoke to us and she's normally super passive and doesn't notice things like that.
If you're on the heavier side, do not go into this store unless you want to be belittled by someone with a chip on their shoulder. read more
