A helpful kid in the movie section asked if I needed help, and after he searched for it, also came up with nothing on the floor. He said he would go check in the back.... at this point, I was feeling bad for taking up his time. The store was now closed, on July 4, and this poor kid probably has plans with friends or family... but despite that, he tracked down the movie in the warehouse and had it out to me in five minutes. I have been to this store hundreds of times, and while it is mostly average, meaning, I'm indifferent about the experience of being there, they really do have some incredibly caring, and helpful people here. She called again and was again promised calls. They never responded.

Short Review: One of the best customer experiences I have ever had and a great selection…read more Detailed Summary: Jim spent the better part of a day with myself and a friend, letting us try out speakers, A/V receivers, amplifiers, pre-amps, etc. He listened to my relentless technical questioning, made suggestions at the right times, allowed us to play with the gear, left us alone with the equipment to try (big contrast to other high end stores that will not let you touch gear), switched the receivers back and forth for us to try, and let us select from a plethora of streaming songs. He did not try to push any products or high end gear, but allowed us to experience the equipment ourselves and reflected and provided insight after. These guys make recommendations for you, the customer. In fact, he advised against some higher end items, explaining it the diminishing returns unless you just had the money to spend. In contrast to this experience, I previously visited the only McIntosh dealer in Pittsburgh, Butch's Sound and Vision (totally unrelated name), who "did not allow customers to touch equipment", gave me vague technical info and answered most questions with " it depends how much money you wanted to spend." The speakers here could not be switched without redoing the wiring (useless when trying to compare speakers), the in wall speakers were from the 80's, and while the selection was mediocre, I would go out of my way (and in this case out of state), to find another McIntosh dealer. These guys at this Sound and Vision sell couches/furniture as well, which makes use of the space. They have 1 sound room with high end items like McIntosh and Anthem amps/preamps, combined with some Bowers and Wilkins 800 series speakers (please let me win the lottery!), 1 sound room with sets and sets of speakers (Paradigm, etc.) with surround sound, acoustic panels, various brands of A/V receivers (Marantz, Integra, Denon, Athem) to try out, another back sound room that is more of a true home theatre experience, a large projector room with 11 channel audio (including Dolby Atmos height ceiling speakers, etc.), and a few small areas with amps/tv's etc. They also have spools of audio cable but only a few types of end connectors available. They have some power conditioners and half dozen outdoor speaker options. We walked away with a few things after investing time here: knowledge of proper speaker/room setup, a few products including a high end a/v receiver, and new knowledge about how to get more out of the receiver. Jim said to just give him a call when I was setting up the receiver and he could walk me through it, a good gesture. The only negative thing was that their knowledge of some of the wattage specs for a few amps was off and it would have been nice to have the specs printed out somewhere handy, but they looked up the information. Truth be told, I wish I had more detailed information about Akron Makerspace, because the space here is truly awesome. I found out about it at Ingenuity Fest 2017, where I learned that they offer both classes and open houses for "makers" or wannabe makers. I sort of stored it in the back of my mind, and decided to try it out around my boyfriend's birthday. I signed us up for a CNC cutting class for about $50/person. If you aren't familiar with CNC cutting, it's basically a very high level computer program that allows you to engrave wood or metal in a very detailed fashion (sorry if there are any nerds out there that are screaming at the computer saying "NO, NO, it's so much more than that!). Truthfully, CNC is much more than that, but Akron Makerspace seeks to condense what would normally be a 6 week course into a few hours so you can go home with something you made. Pretty awesome huh? Lest you be deterred thinking, computer programming? That doesn't sound like me... They have a TON of other stuff here! I'd tell you to check out their website, but really, that wouldn't even tell you all the stuff they have here. The best way is to just drop in and see what it's all about. They do offer open houses weekly where folks can just drop in to check it out, or get help from the expert makers on a project they are working on. Some examples are: welding, vinyl cutting, jewelry and stamp making, robotics, wood carving... the list goes on and on. Basically, if there's something you want to make and you just aren't sure where to start, THIS is the place. They do offer memberships for $35/month which can get you open access to the space (you get a fancy key and everything) and access to all their equipment, as well as a storage space for your projects. I do think the classes are a fun way to get your foot in the door, as they have several different ones (there's a calendar on their website). I'm told that they are planning on collaborating with some local restaurants to do some date night offerings, which I think would be awesome. All in all, this place is definitely worth a visit, and creative people will love how much they have to offer!
