Talked with - I believe one of the owners - she said it was just her and her husband running the place. The restaurant was quiet with just us and one other couple inside on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered two brisket sandwiches and an order of pulled pork nachos. The food was good, brisket was a little dry, but no real complaints. They had 3 sauce options you could put into to-go containers yourself to try out, we opted for the southern comfort I believe and it was good BBQ! Also a nice touch I saw is they sold farm fresh eggs. My only two critiques would be phone etiquette and inventorying expired product. We called ahead of time to make sure the restaurant was open with it being a holiday weekend. Once the phone was answered on the other end, it was silent for about 30 seconds then we were given just a "Hello?". We had to confirm we were calling Cherry Red Roasters instead of calling someone's personal phone. We were given sour cream I believe in a packet to go with our nachos, but the expiry date on the packet was 5/13/2025 when the date we dinned was 5/25/2025.

We were surprised in the end as desert is included with each dish so we got two pieces of pie, strawberry rhubarb and peach. Over all a great visit except for the wait. 4.2 stars.

On our way home from a sporting event, we had to stop for gas and food. Athletes wanted pizza! I found this little place tucked in the corner. I went to the window to check out the menu. I was greeted by the owner. He invited us in& we couldn't say no. He said "it's a pizza you never forget!" The place was clean and was decorated with sport jerseys, trophies and posters from famous wrestlers and his son. We were not only impressed by the taste of our pizza, but also by his personal touch! He gave our athletes stories of inspiration and encouragement throughout the visit! He also explained how he only uses fresh ingredients. He makes homemade sauce, pizza dough and salad dressings. You can tell Dwight's really cares about food and service! The pizza sauce was really good! I could tell the cheese was high quality, not salty. I thought I would take a pound of Chicago beef home to my husband. He loved it! Very flavorful, authentic Italian beef!!!! The prices were very affordable!!! My father and I are truck drivers and we happened to find this place. We usually have to resort to fast food. We got in there and the prices were decent. We ordered a pizza and appetizer. The appetizer showed up quickly but then it went down hill. We sat waiting on our pizza for more than an hour. We have places to be so sitting around that long was ridiculous. Finally one of the staff comes out and does the impossible. He asks us if we had gotten our food yet. It is your job to keep track of the food. He runs into the back and finds our pizza. He brings it out and we finally get to eat. Then the pizza is so bad that every thing keeps sliding off the dough. With no silverware we were having to pick what fell off with our fingers. We ate, paid and got out of there quickly. As truck drivers we have to eat fast food most of the time. At least with them we can get fast and somewhat enjoyable food. That is where Dwight Pizza lost us. read more

By far so worth the drive from Bloomington to Chicago or vise versa!! Stopped on a whim over a year ago and we literally stop EVERY time we make a trip up North! The pizza is great, he's even got a gluten free crust that is super crispy! But - the Italian Beef is where it's at!! The first time we came, he gave me a little 'sample' he called it. It was two fork fulls, and this was after I ordered pizza...doh! Since I'm a gluten free eater, I get my Italian Beef in a green bowl with no bread...but that's ok with me. I get a salad on the side and last fall we even had fresh tomatoes from his garden with our salads!! This is a real business with real people providing great food to the area...skip the chains that are near by and EAT real FOOD!! Not sure why people rate a 4 when they say everything is great, but I will give it a 5 star rating. The pizza is excellent with a thin crust and prepared just the way you want. The employees are always nice and wanting to make sure you have everything you want and just the way you want. The decor is kind of a tribute to the local sports and local residents who have gone on to continue their dream in the athletic field. Small place with seating for approximately 25 with a t.v. for you to watch if you so desire. I love the idea of having the pop counter so we could get our own refill when we wanted and not have to bother or wait for someone (as I hate having to bother a waitress just for a refill when they are busy). Stop in when you are near Dwight (Exit 217 on I55 - located behind Burger King) for excellent pizza, Italian Beef, or Chicken Sandwiches. read more

I'm a truck driver passing through the area. The truck stop is just across the street and these guys are great enough to offer delivery. I ordered a large with pepperoni and sausage. It took a little longer than expected for delivery, but it was well worth the wait. The cheese is gooey and packed with flavor. The pepperoni were like spicy red taste nuggets sprinkled over the top. The crust was crispy and light while the sauce was robust. The big pizza chains might be cheaper than smaller shops like this, but you can tell weekly when you taste it. This one gets 5 stars from me. Definitely better than what you'll find from a national brand. read more

My mom and I met for lunch in Dwight. So glad we decided to have lunch here. Delicious deep dish and gluten free pizza. The owner and employees made you feel like you were family. They even gave us a sample of their homemade Italian beef...amazing! Needless to say,, I brought my husband home an Italian beef for dinner, wish I would of brought two. A large group of us attended an event called Firebird Days in Pontiac. One of the events was a group lunch at Mario's on a Sunday afternoon. They were friendly, keep the salads, drinks, and pizzas flowing, and all for a reasonable price. Usually, when I attend a pizza buffet, they put out the cheap stuff - pizzas very light on cheese and toppings. Not so for our event, the pizzas were fresh, hot, generously topped...and delicious! Noticed this was a surprisingly highly rated spot, even though the photos didn't look that great. Through ordering online , placed an order for a small pan pizza , not realizing (isn't listed on their website) that adding any toppings is 1.25$ more each; like a 23$ small pizza. It appears the pizza had its toppings put after the sauce, and cheese on top, leaving an unsatisfying appearance and feeling I would've needed to order "extra cheese" to get a normal pizza. The exterior of the crust was hard, like baked too high of a temp for too long, and crunched like a cracker with the dough being dense and flavorless. The "beef roll" appeared to be their small dough folded over into a 12"x8" rectangle and cut into 1"x3" long pieces , and dusted with an Italian seasoning. Thin shaved beef inside, opted for pepperoni in it too. It was alright, again the crust put me off, the au jous that comes with it was watery and bland, and for 20.50$, felt like an overpay. Personally I like getting boneless wings with pizza, so opted for a dozen of those for us. Limited flavors , went with "hot", which was no hotter than Franks red hot. If they were fried, they steamed inside their foil and styrofoam container, and were received soggy and soft. Nothing noteworthy on taste or experience there.. beyond the 16.75$ charge, making each quarter-sized piece like 1.40$ each All in all impression: overpriced. I wouldn't go back, and if this is the best rated pizza in town, think I won't be going out for pizza around here the duration of my trip, least it be overpriced for mediocre food again.
