Well we were in town and I was so excited to get the family on board to try this place that I hyped up and thought used to have good reviews. Bad move. From start to finish it was an expensive disappointment. It took forever for anyone to acknowledge us and there was a bartender that looked at us multiple times and continued to ignore us. The place is empty except couple at the bar, couple seated at a table on bar side, and a 3 top on restaurant side. After 15 minutes I walked up and asked the bartender if we are supposed to seat ourselves and she said no and said someone will seat you shortly. Someone eventually came and it took 3 business days to get food ordered. Ordered and when it finally came another 3 business days I was so disappointed. The serving sizes were all for a hamster and I think a hamster would have been disappointed in the lack of flavor. My daughter's mac and cheese / pasta was dry and she asked for an extra side of sauce and he said we couldn't do that. He came back from the kitchen and said the chef managed to get this much from the pan and it was 3 drops of sauce... he left and we never received drink refills or got checked on again. Took forever for the bill and finally got it and left. We got the bang bang shrimp for app Daughter got pasta or mac and cheese I got wings (sauces were grosssssss) Bf got a burger I think This was on May 17th 2026

Take out only but they supply the rink as well. The pizza is really good, lots of specialties like Hawaiian, Meat Lovers, and Cheeseburger. Overpriced, mid-tier pizza. Can't believe paid 66$ for a pizza, beef roll, and a dozen boneless…read morewings. Prefaced with I've never been to Illinois till earlier this week, ergo unaware of quality and what restaurants people will keep going through patronage, I have spent the last few days checking out restaurants on Yelp. Noticed this was a surprisingly highly rated spot, even though the photos didn't look that great. Through ordering online , placed an order for a small pan pizza , not realizing (isn't listed on their website) that adding any toppings is 1.25$ more each; like a 23$ small pizza. It appears the pizza had its toppings put after the sauce, and cheese on top, leaving an unsatisfying appearance and feeling I would've needed to order "extra cheese" to get a normal pizza. The exterior of the crust was hard, like baked too high of a temp for too long, and crunched like a cracker with the dough being dense and flavorless. The "beef roll" appeared to be their small dough folded over into a 12"x8" rectangle and cut into 1"x3" long pieces , and dusted with an Italian seasoning. Thin shaved beef inside, opted for pepperoni in it too. It was alright, again the crust put me off, the au jous that comes with it was watery and bland, and for 20.50$, felt like an overpay. Personally I like getting boneless wings with pizza, so opted for a dozen of those for us. Limited flavors , went with "hot", which was no hotter than Franks red hot. If they were fried, they steamed inside their foil and styrofoam container, and were received soggy and soft. Nothing noteworthy on taste or experience there.. beyond the 16.75$ charge, making each quarter-sized piece like 1.40$ each All in all impression: overpriced. I wouldn't go back, and if this is the best rated pizza in town, think I won't be going out for pizza around here the duration of my trip, least it be overpriced for mediocre food again.

It certainly is no surprise because the old road goes right by it and there's a crap ton of memorabilia and other stuff. A lot of it is basic knick knacks and the like. The outside of the place has a big ass motor home on top. Barely knew anything about this town until we got off for a few bites. It's only interesting because of its history of being along the mythical road that went through it. That same road is still here but with not as much traffic. Check out a few of the roadside attractions. There's an old diner and a prison among other things. As far as this pub, it's okay. Pretty okay prices. Has beers in bottles and cans. It's about $6 for a basic cocktail. Whiskey and whatever. It's about $7 for an appetizer. The Pretzel Sticks have the right amount of fluffiness and saltiness. For sure there's a lot of history around here. It's closed Mondays to Thursdays. They're a family owned business and often close for holidays or whatever.

A large group of us attended an event called Firebird Days in Pontiac. One of the events was a group lunch at Mario's on a Sunday afternoon. They were friendly, keep the salads, drinks, and pizzas flowing, and all for a reasonable price. Usually, when I attend a pizza buffet, they put out the cheap stuff - pizzas very light on cheese and toppings. Not so for our event, the pizzas were fresh, hot, generously topped...and delicious! The owner even came out and told us a little about the history of the place with his grandparents and the original Route 66 passing by the storefront. My hats off to the owners and staff!
