Had to stop at Dwayne's Fresh Jerky in Bowie, AZ for their beef jerky and most delicious chocolate bourbon pecan pie I've ever had!! I can taste the chunks of chocolate and bourbon whiskey this is a must try when in the area. You can use restroom facilities. I'm rating the beer jerky, chocolate bourbon pecan pie and customer service 5/5 stars. Restrooms were clean but need updating and rate them 3.8/5 stars. This is a Great place to stop for a break or for over night. We have stayed at the RV Park for the last 19 yrs. It consistently moves in the right direction ~ Always improving! Full hook-ups, 30/50 amp, water & sewer. Spaces are wide and the whole park is gravel. Tom, the camp host, is a great guy! Very friendly and helpful. Restrooms have showers and there is a laundromat. The store has every kind imaginable of Jerky, pistachios & dried fruits. Very popular Pecan Pie. Next to the store is a food truck. Everything we tried has been EXCELLENT! Yes, there are fast food joints at other exits, but WHY?? Stop in, you won't regret it. If you are going by after hours, there are two vending machines that you can purchase Jerry, Nuts & Dried Fruit at the front of the store. They also offer Propane, Air Pump, & Ice. read more

The "brisket jerky" billboards caught my husband's eye so we made a stop. I was pleasantly surprised!! Don't let the fact that it's out in the middle of nowhere fool you, it is a very nice specialty store with jerky, olives, honey, and more. Worth the stop! It's not far from the highway at all. In the time of COVID-19, there's not much to do, but if you are able, you can jump in your car and drive. Which is exactly what we did. Our intention during our day trip was to visit a particular city in NM (spoiler alert - we didn't make it) but we figured we'd grab some fresh pecans on the way. I picked up (wearing a mask and gloves, I may add) a 3/4 lb bag of raw unsalted, shelled pecan halves and a strawberry rhubarb jam from We B Jamin, which ironically is located closer to me (Tucson). Fortunately, I was the only one in the store until a man looking for a jerky fix came in, but he was wearing a mask. The young lady behind the register, on the other hand, did not have on a face covering. She did wear gloves, but that's probably prudent as she offered the man with the jerky craving a sample. (Is food sampling safe in the time of COVID-19?) When I got back to the car with my pricey pecans and jam, I wiped off the packaging (standard during the pandemic), did my anti-bacterial dance, and dove in with the Honey into the pecans. Yum. Pricey as hell but yum. A slightly buttery, creamy sweet taste - really, really fresh. $$ but worth it. We've yet to crack open the jam but we've had their products before. Life in the time of COVID-19 alert: Employee without a face covering. Cochise County recommends masks but no mandate. The store has a good layout with ample space for four different shoppers to maintain physical distance. read more

This is a great place to stop for refreshments if you're traveling along I-10. The jerky is amazingly flavorful and tasty. I tried the turkey and the Hot & Spicy beef. Both made my road trip much easier and quelled my road hunger! I didn't stop there: I indulged my insatiable chocolate craving, & bought the chocolate fudge which was amazing as well. I love jerky. There was a convenience store near my house when I was in high school that sold a particular brand that I never saw anywhere else. It was heaven. A lot of jerky is too sweet, especially the mass-produced commercial junk like Jack Links (UGH), Oberto (gag), or even Old Trapper. I want beef, smoke, and salt! And sometimes pepper and heat! Eventually I moved away from that convenience store, and I've been chasing that jerky dragon ever since. Well search no longer, you fellow jerky purists! Dwayne has unlocked the secrets of the Old Gods and the New! Ignore those jackwads who say it's too expensive for jerky. The problem is that the factory-made teriyaki tree bark garbage you get from AM/PM might as well be cheap ass donkey meat. They're selling you dumpster trash. Dwayne sells you straight up good ass beef jerked with love. The Cowboy Jerky is the cornerstone of this bovine empire. Perfectly salty and peppery, with that kiss of smoke like the first time you kissed that girl you was sweet on, except this love won't trash the breakroom at your work and use gasoline to burn her name into your mom's front lawn. The Buffalo Jerky is an utter delight when it's in stock. Hot No Sugar is a little love tap on your tongue that lets you know it's there but won't torch your b-hole six hours later, and none of that sweet crap everyone else loads up their red pepper jerky with because bitchass losers can't handle even the slightest heat, likely because of their cold, dead hearts. You people sicken me. Lastly, there's Arizona Heat. Now this bad mama jama WILL FUCK UP YOUR BUTTHOLE. Be warned, Dwayne's not playing with this shit. It's the real deal. We're talkin Hot No Sugar with straight up habanero powder all up in that shit. Do not eat this if you have plans the next day because you will cancel those plans in exchange for a date with your toilet. BUT... it's worth it. It's SO good. It's that good, endorphin-rushing, air-sucking, eye-watering burn that reminds you that even though your mom's lawn eventually grew back in and Jessica isn't coming back, you do still have the ability to feel. Specifically the feeling of your mouth going down in flames worse than your relationship with Jessica, and the feeling of your lower intestines cramping up before launching a tirade of pure molten magma out your booty hole. But Dwayne's Fresh Jerky is so goddamn good that it's worth that pain. But if spicy food ain't your thang, all his other jerky is god-tier, too. I literally drove three hours just to buy $120 worth of jerky at Dwayne's once. I was not "just passing through." It was a trip made with the sole purpose of buying some of Dwayne's jerky. Those signs were all up and down I-10 like, "Hey buddy, have you heard of this lil' jerky joint? You should pop on in!" and I was like, "BITCH YOU KNOW I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THAT EXIT 362 JAM WHO YOU THINK YOU'RE PLAYIN WITH BOI." I got a beautiful reusable shopping bag, I think because of the size of the purchase alone, and it is one of my most treasured reusable shopping bags. The jerky was gone within a month. I have spent probably at least $350 at this place over the past 5 years. I seriously cannot overstate how mind-meltingly good this jerky is. If you try Dwayne's Cowboy Jerky and you don't full on LOVE it, you are legitimately a bad person. Watch out for snakes and spiders in the bathroom. Or at least that's what the sign says. Look, you're driving through the desert. Deal with it, or piss in the bushes. Which also probably have snakes and spiders in them. At least Dwayne's has a sink so you can wash your hands after. If I could give this jerky more than five stars, I would. God, it is SO GOOD. read more

(At this point I was just satisfying my curiosity by peeking at everything.) When we went into the shop for the jerky, there were so many choices! I saw the billboards for the place and figured I'd try their jerky for a long drive. But what I didn't expect was a step into something we don't see often anymore; a genuine small business that cares about people. They have big signs assuring you they have gas pumps and jerky, which is great. But then I noticed the sign say "clean bathrooms" and "free coffee". I thought it was interesting they were emphasizing these thing, because let's face it, most gas station bathrooms are pretty gross. So I stopped, stuck the gas nozzle in the car, and went to look for the bathroom. I was directed to out side, around the corner. At that point I figured I was about to se something awful. But what I fond was something not only very clean, but clearly assembled by hand from someone who cared about the people using it. Even the soap was decent name brand stuff, not that generic ooze most make us use. After my bathroom break I headed to the store to check out this jerky. I was surprised to see the selection of not just jerky, but nuts, dried fruit, fudge and brittle. They also have some standard souvenirs. I was offered samples, but I just grabbed on that sounded promising, sweet and spicy. It was the best jerky I've ever had. I regretted not getting two. I also tried the coconut and pecan brittle, which was awesome. The very pretty young lady at the counter was very friendly and offers samples and advice. Overall, this is not just a great place to grab some gas and jerky, this is one of the last remaining places that care about their customers. Make sure to stop here.
