I can't say enough about DV Locksmith. I called on a Monday and they were able to fit me in that evening. Vinny was on time - even beating me home from work! He was extremely courteous and professional. He advised me on the best lock and I appreciated that he had our best interests in mind, rather than just trying to make a profit. He was efficient and did an excellent job...even asking for a broom when he was done to sweep up the dust from the drill. The lock works perfectly and we are very happy. The cherry on top was when Vinny offered to wait for me to pull my car around the block to give me his parking spot right outside my building so my car would be closer the next morning when I left for work! The gentleman at the counter (didn't catch his name) spent about 15 minutes helping a complete stranger (me) with a fire safe that had a broken key. I jammed the piece too far in for him to extract, though he did get it opened, and he didn't take any $$ for his time. Not many people would do that. Needless to say, I will be patronizing this business. There was a good selection of hardware-type products. While I was in there, someone came in to get a couple keys copied, and it was just a few dollars (maybe under $3). read more

I called Vinny yesterday morning about two broken locks in our apartment. After asking for me to send photos of each lock, he called and talked me through my options and the prices to go along with it. He was able to come this morning and fix both locks for a fair and reasonable (I mean, I was so surprised how reasonable!) price. He also noticed that something else was amiss with the door and fixed that as well. I am so pleased with the work that Vinny did for me and I would recommend him and the team at D&V Hardware (I get my keys made there) for any need. Seriously. I had a lock that was broken and Vinny came to fix it. About a month later I thought I was having the same problem, and called again. He came the next day and said that the lock was ok, and that it just wasn't being lubricated enough. He didn't charge me for coming out the second time, even when I offered. So nice, and so helpful. Amazing service, very knowledgeable and extremely trustworthy!!! After reading all of the reviews, I gave DV Locksmith a call yesterday to make an appointment to replace my sticking lock. The receptionist took all of my information and then had Vinny call me less then 15 minutes later. I explained my problem, sent him photos of my lock, and he gave me an estimate which was very reasonable. I was initially looking to replace both apartment door locks, but Vinny stressed this wasn't necessary and would be rather expensive. Instead, he came up with a plan to replace the cylinders but also said he may just need to fix my existing ones. Vinny fit me in the next day, came exactly when he said he would and fixed my existing locks/cylinders without having to replace them. He explained everything to me and made me understand my previous problem and give me tips for maintenance moving forward. In the end it cost me HALF of the original estimate because Vinny was able to salvage my hardware. It's hard to get excited over a locksmith, but I just said goodbye to him and picked up my computer to write this review! An immediate appointment, no wait time, explanation/education and a cost effective solution. Oh, and he was nice! This place has been the neighborhood locksmith place for a few decades. Family owned, I still remember when the current owner's dad ran the place. You can't beat the service and prices for a knowledgeable locksmith. I have never had a bad key copy in the couple of decades my family have used them, that probably amounts to at least 3 dozen individual keys over the years. Ok one time, we had a bad copy, but it was because they were training a new employee- they replaced it for free, no receipt, no excuses, no hassle, no nuthin'. I've recently had a deadbolt rekeyed in under 20 minutes with 4 extra key copies for a quarter of the price of getting a brand new deadbolt (I brought the lock cylinder to the store, saves time and money) - this has on an expensive Medeco model, not your mid-priced box store stuff. We also recently had to replace a mortise lockset (rusted out and cracked from 20 years outside) and he quickly identified what we needed and got a set ready to go to replace it, on the spot. Can't say enough about DV Locksmith - they are a perfect example of why NYC small businesses will never be replaced by chain stores. read more

It's hard to pick out a locksmith that will not take advantage of a person in need. If you need a reliable and honest locksmith these guys are the one. I had recently been robbed and wanted to beef up my lock. My neighbor had called the "nearest" locksmith and got way overcharged $750!!! I called DV, they were recommended by my super and got the same locks and cover plate for $168. That was the price for the installation, deadbolt and security plate. When I called they scheduled an appointment for me right away and were here in less than 2 hours. The gentleman who installed was a real professional and measured and marked everything then double checked that everything was working before taking payment. Real security and professionalism. this is the best locksmith I have ever been to I called and asked if they cut keys if I have the blank he said to bring it in so I did I brought my own blank because nobody carries blanks for my wifes scooter so when he looked at the original and the blank and saw that it was identical he took it into the back and cut it then when I asked how much he said no charge this is how you get repeat customers I finally found a hardware/locksmith where I will buy all of my supplies from so I want to say again Thanks D.V hardware read more

These guys get it !! A family business- Father and two sons and an employee. Everybody is knowledgeable and helpful and friendly. I go there as often as I need.-the last time I was there I needed some screws and wood glue to fix a leg of a chair. The son suggested the screw size and the right glue -I picked out the pack of screws myself when I got to the counter he said " you gonna use all those screws ?" I said no and he got me a smaller pack saving me an extra $3.50 - who still does that ? This is the type of place your parents took you to as a kid- it's another world . People who put the customer first, that know what they're doing ! I've also used them as Locksmiths - on premises ( I forget what happened) - there was an accumulation of gunk in the lock cylinder or something - but they changed it 123. talk about great service OH MY GOD I was shocked by this type of old school behavior I havnt seen in years I dropped off a car door lock that I lost the keys for I was told a couple of hours I went back there several hours later and was told that the boss who makes the keys for the auto locks had an emergency and ran out but would be back shortly I said ok here we go I thought but the clerk asked for my address n phone # . I said HUH? but I gave it to them I get a phone call a few hours later that the boss is outside my place with the lock and key but it gets even better the boss didn't even want to get paid for the service he was like "I told you a couple of hours you went back to my store it wasn't ready here's your lock with a key NO CHARGE I was floored by this gesture I had to literally shove the money in the guys shirt pocket and walk away. I was happy just having the lock delivered and the same day as I am all the way across town on 49st off 25th ave never mind getting a freebie ALL IN ALL THESE GUYS TURNED A POSSIBLE NIGHTMARE INTO MY MOST PLEASANT BUSINESS EXPERIENCE OF 2015. From here on I will try them first for any and all my hardware needs these guys are truly the best I've seen in awhile.
