I stay away from buying meat here because of the poor quality. Their ground beef often looks great through the plastic wrap on the packaging but when you get it home and open it, you'll often find that they put a very small layer of fresh meat over some brown, older meat. Extremely deceptive and if i can't trust them with something as simple as getting fresh meat, how can I trust them with anything else. Only reason for two stars instead of one is their beer selection and their price compared to the take out at the local bars. You're better off at Weis in Hamlin or Shoprite in Daleville. read more

Kind of Overpriced....but they know you have no nearby choices, hence no competition. I LOVE Dutch's Market. They order a wide variety of foods and produce, and are responsive to local needs and requests. They carry organic, and quite a few specialty items. The staff are wonderful... friendly and helpful. AND they deliver for a very reasonable price. I am beyond grateful for them in our small community. We are lucky to have them here! read more

Only in an emergency...everyone has a chip on their shoulder, very pricey, they gear their prices towards 'lake people'. I have been here 14 years and it never gets better, now they sell gas and of course it is the highest in the area along with the gas station down 507 which they match to the penny. I have gone here for years. Always loved the deli . We go for the ethanol free fuel. And I like to support the local businesses over corporate. But today after I waited where it says order your fresh sandwiches here for 10 minutes and no one came over. So then I moved 10 ft over and waited to be waited on where you order your lunch meat. Ordered my lunch meat and when she asked if I needed anything else she said you have to order over there again 10 ft away where I originally waited. No problem until another employee named Diane said (and I say said loosely) I CAN'T TAKE AY MORE ORDERS I HAVE TOO MANY!!! I am a local business owner and if one of my employees 1. spoke to a customer like that I would have been totally embarrassed. 2. We never turn away business or raise your voice in frustration to a customer. I understand you are very busy. But maybe something like we are backed up it will be at least 15 minutes??? Would have been nice. In addition there was no one else there in line. So assuming these ere called in orders. I don't really know. You always take care of your customer physically there in front of you. I then proceeded to the register to pay for my groceries. Asked the girl at the register if I might speak to a manager. She very politely got Ryan. I explained what happen. He did not respond verbally at all. Ok but in addition he just went back to where he was standing and looked blankly in another direction. Store is very well stocked and the food looks great, especially rhe delic meats and salads. Prices are pretty high and if you don't have a discount card you will pay more. The cashiers had a really hard time handling a free coupon for up to 5.99 value off on a 6.99 item. A cashier named Rosemarie took $1.00 off instead of $5.99. When I went back to discuss this, she had a very poor attitude. The gal at the customer service counter fixed it promptly. read more

Employees did not assist me for the first 5 minutes when I asked for their help and just ignored me until I had to go to another front end manager, needed to recurve money from Western Union at 8:40 (20 mins before closing time) did not receive help because the front end manager "had to do too many things to do" and that "Western unions company closes at that time" when she wasn't doing anything and assisted somebody else, i got dirty looks from all the other workers as well, I've been told by many people that they are racist and that it's hard to get assistance if your race isn't white, I'm Hispanic so maybe that's the reason that I didn't get assistance, and I've heard they had "join the kkk ad on the shopping carts", might have to go to weis since they have better employees and are more welcoming, felt uncomfortable in the presence of Dutchs. read more

The soups are ok, pasta e fagiole is good but chicken noodle is a tad salty for my taste. There are occasionally good meat sales and most of the staff is friendly, but I'm local. Overpriced ($15 for a small bunch of carnations? Really?!) and if you're not careful it's easy to grab something that's expired or, once in a while, downright spoiled (I've gotten moldy cheese more than once). The owner is a grump, but he's not around much. Just go when there's a sale and keep an eye on sell-by dates and you should be fine. Horrible experience! Prices are high and the items are not stocked accurately so the items I bought rang up different than the sign indicated. The cashier was extremely rude when I wanted to return the items that rang up inaccurately. It was a worse experience than I have had at The larger Walmarts and other supermarkets. Totally dissatisfied with Dutches food market. I read the reviews on Facebook, Yelp, and Yellow Pages, and it's is 100% true, you have to watch out for expired food and rotten meat that they try to pass off to the consumers. I'm a local myself and have notified customer service when a product is expired and/or rancid only to return and see the very same product still on the Shelf. Additionally, although they have some very nice, helpful employees that take pride in their work , a majority including some of the higher-ups are discourteous, but none quite so a one of the males at the customer service counter who is utterly belligerent and nasty, and will continue to wait on his co-workers and other customers whom he is friendly with while you stand at the other cashier waiting to be waited on. If I could get away with giving 0 Stars I would, but Yelp makes you give at least one. read more

Just moved here 3 months ago and it is the only place close by, so the convenience is great. Stuffed mushrooms are delicious, the steaks I bought were tough and had a lot of gristle but other meats were good. However the Deli personnel are to be avoided at all cost. Finding 3 containers of what appeared to be a cheese dip or spread of some sort unlabeled and unpriced, I brought them to the deli counter thinking I was doing a good thing bringing this to their attention. I put them on the counter and a middle-aged dark haired woman yelled at me "DON'T PUT THOSE THERE! I explained that they were not marked and she again verbally accosted me "MA'AM ARE YOU BUYING ALL OF THOSE" I said I didn't know what was in them so why would I? I proceeded to replace them where they came from and finished my shopping but before I left I went back to check if someone had come to label them and they had not(1/2 hr or so later). I hope they rot in the case. Tried to do a good thing and I was yelled at for it. I will not purchase any Deli items in the future that require any interaction with staff especially the Dragon Lady. read more

I wish that it were possible to give less than one star but I will have to settle for one. This is a market and they have food there. That is the nicest thing I can say. I recognize that this is a stressful time for people working in supermarkets. Nonetheless, it is the obligation of the employees in the store to facilitate safe shopping for the customer. In addition, It is the obligation of management to ensure that the employees are acting in a safe manner. To be clear, I am talking about the danger of COVID-19 and the responsibility of all citizens to help eradicate this virus by practicing social distancing and wearing masks. As I walked in the store I observed employees on break sitting together at a picnic table without masks. There are employees failing to wear their masks at all and others wearing them improperly. I definitely felt like I was an unsafe situation and I got out of the store as quickly as possible. I tried to call the store when I got home to let them know what I have seen and the recorded message told me that the store does not accept calls from unlisted numbers. I tried using my cell phone and was told that the number was no longer in service. There is no email address on the website to allow for contact or feedback. I will not be returning. read more

Charley n I recently moved from Houston, TX, back to the Beautiful Pocono Mountains & here in "The Escape" in Greentown. We were BEAT from unpacking n quite hungry! I hadn't seen/read any reviews about Dutch's prior to shopping. I really don't understand the reviews?! The prices & selections are good & fair! We purchased items from just about every department & have been happy with them! Also, a lady working in the deli gave us some ideas on what to buy in the store made department for some "easy" dinners...which we thought were good!! Odd place. Occasional bargains, otherwise prices way higher than other local stores. Some staff super nice, some downright awful as in outright aggressively rude. Tends to be overpriced since it is one of the only grocery stores in the area. I've found moldy food on the shelf on two separate occasions and expired food several more times, so choose carefully. Soups and sandwiches to go are a mixed bag; the pasta e fagioli is very good, but the chicken noodle soup is way too salty and overwhelmed with celery as filler. Also, spelling errors abound on the labels and signs, which is always good for a laugh. Most of the employees are really nice, but beware the deli counter - I've gone up and been the only person at the counter and STILL had to wait over 2 minutes for someone to help me, even with 4 employees back there who saw me and looked away (I guess hoping someone else would take care of me). OK beer prices, impressive selection for a grocery store. All-in-all not one of my favorite places since the food is crazy priced and it's not always good (or even safe to eat), but it's ok in a pinch. UPDATE : Came here the other day to grab a Country Crock mac and cheese side dish, and out of habit I checked the expiration date - it had expired the week prior! I dug all the way to the back to find a fresh one, but they were ALL EXPIRED. The very last one in the back, which should be the freshest, had actually expired JUNE 24TH. I am not sure why there are 4 reviews on this site saying how awful this store seems to be. I live not far and go there all the time and have never had a problem that was not solved. I did once get meat that didn't seem right, they exchanged it without any issues. I find the produce to be good and every chuck roast that I have purchased there for my stews are great!. They have 2 meat sales a year and have never been disappointed. To the gentleman that said you got sick on the sausage...maybe you didn't cook it long enough. The prices for some items are more expensive then the bigger chain stores but that is to be expected...that happens in every small store in the country...get a grip.... guess I am NOT a fan of "bashing" any business on social media. No, the prices aren't the lowest, and no, it's not the cleanest store in the world. But it carries a lot of funky, mom-and-pop brand items that the big chains won't carry because they can't make slotting fees off of them. In other words, not everything is made by Kraft. I stopped in on Friday on our way up to the cabin. We got all of our essentials. When we were going to make sandwiches we noticed that the guy at the deli had made a mistake and gave us low fat cheese. We noticed from the taste. Anyway, we are not fans of this cheese and have never had a problem. So, we ate other things and brought it back today on our way past. First the women at customer service gives me a problem and says she doesn't think she can take it back since I opened it. Then the manager comes over and tells me the same thing. He says you can't return things that are opened. To this I say what????? If I had gotten the cheese I ordered I wouldn't be returning it. If something is wrong with something you would not know if you didn't open it. So, I really was not happy and I told both of them that I could not believe that there was no apology, no sorry for the inconvenience, but instead a ridiculous statement about not being able to return something that is opened. This has to be the most ridiculous thing. So, if the cheese was bad would that be okay? If there was mold on it would that be okay? I am just done with stupidity. read more
