This review is based on the "Stress-Less Lunch" event and Disco Cheetah…read more On September 18, 2024, there was an amazing event called Stress-Less Lunch, where a selection of food trucks gave out 100% free food. You simply line up, receive a ticket stub from a staff member, and redeem it for a food item. It's strictly one per person. The event happened every Wednesday in September and usually sold out quickly, so you had to come early to wait in line. It started at 12 PM, but I waited from 11:15 AM and got my food an hour later. According to social media, it was sponsored by Cadillac Fairview, a commercial real estate company that owns the nearby Pacific Centre mall. The location of the event was at Robson Square, right outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. As for the food at Disco Cheetah, it's absolutely delicious--it's the bomb! I got a bowl of Korean food with battered boneless chicken thigh, multigrain rice, greens, corn, edamame, pickled red cabbage, and scallions. You also have a choice of sauces to go with the dish. I chose garlic ranch sauce and chili sauce. The chicken thigh was crispy, and every bite had a satisfying crunch. It was full of strong, salty flavors. The greens and rice complemented the dish nutritionally, balancing the salty flavors of the sauces and adding softer, saucy textures to contrast the crispy battered chicken. Big 5 out of 5 stars to the Disco Cheetah and Cadillac Fairview event staff based on this visit. I'm so glad I came out to this event and waited patiently for an hour for the food. The weather was nice, but the air was a little chilly, so it wasn't too bad of a wait. The lines were neatly organized by the event staff, which made the wait less stressful, so kudos to them for that. Disco Cheetah has a restaurant on Davie Street in downtown, so I will definitely consider visiting Disco Cheetah there to try their other dishes.

Disco Cheerah food truck on Howe St by Robson Square…read more Been a while since tried it and happen across it on my lunch walk. I recall the portions were always large, so I usually got for salad bowl to make it lighter. I just noticed that customers were using the self-serve sauces. The chicken was very large and juicey. The salad had a mix of corn, beans, shredded carrots and pickles. Strictly take out, but can get a seat around Robson Square.

ABSOLUTE SCAM. BOOK AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY AND PAY TO DEAL WITH THE RUDEST…read moreAND MOST CONDESCENDING 'BUSINESS' OWNER IN THE LOWER MAINLAND. Some backstory: my wife and I love ice cream. We've visited at least one ice cream spot on every date we've ever gone on. We ate gelato for 15 days straight when we went to Italy for our honeymoon. So when my wife became pregnant earlier this year, an ice cream themed baby shower seemed like an obvious choice. Things didn't go exactly to plan and our baby was born 12 weeks early and has spent the last month and a half in the NICU. Our wonderful friends still planned an incredible baby shower for us and family and friends flew in from across the country to be here for it. As part of the ice cream themed baby shower, our friends paid a (not inconsiderable) amount of money to book an ice cream truck to come by the baby shower as a surprise for two parents who have had a very hard time lately. The day before the event, the owner of Mr. Cool messaged our friends to tell them that someone else had booked them for the agreed upon time and they would not be able to make it during the party (this service had been booked in July, three months ago). Instead of doing the reasonable thing and apologizing and refunding the money, Ana, the owner of this business, refused to issue a refund, and stated that they would show up anyways long after the party was over. When my friend told them that they would be coming after them for a refund, they laughed and said, and I quote, 'Good luck with that.' No ice cream truck showed up to the party and they insisted they would be keeping the money my friends had paid 'on principle'. What kind of person would do that? What kind of business owner would not only double book themselves (which, fine, it happens), but then refuse to take accountability, refuse to show up within a timeframe that worked for their customers, refuse to offer a refund for the error, and then laugh and keep the money you had been paid for a service you never even made the effort to fulfill? Who would do that to two parents who have spent every DAY for the past six weeks in a hospital and the friends and family who showed up to support them? If you're going to book with Mr. Cool, I'm begging you to consider any other option. I have an ice cream maker at home and will make you ice cream myself. This business does not deserve a single cent for how they treat paying customers and will likely treat you the same. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
