Ambiance, service, quality, and reliability have all declined over the past year. I don't know what happened, but they don't even bother to serve you what's described on the printed menu, then anytime you ask about it they get an attitude. The decor is now mostly gone. The menu on the wall, gone. "We can't do that" "we don't do that" is now the answer to simple requests. Very weird because it used to be a happy and unique experience--been there scores of times and bring guests from outside the region. They still have unique items on their menu but they now seem slapped together. Hope the management can recapture the charm it used to have. read more

I was really looking forward to trying this place after I read they had the best burgers in Iowa, but I'm going to be honest, they just werent. I was very underwhelmed by the food and very overwhelmed by how much it ended up costing. I got the Maria - the burger was huge. I'm so glad that i only got the single patty burger. As far as flavor the only thing I could really taste was the spiced beef. I also got a side of cheese curds to try separately from the burger which were just bland. I understand why they gave me a side of spicy mustard, because that was the only flavor it had. My dining partner had the gouda mac and cheese and the Kroketten & I tried both. The Mac and Cheese was kinda the same as the cheese curds, no flavor. The Kroketten was best thing we ate but it's not something I'd go out of my way for. The total cost of our lunch was $31.51 and I didnt think it was worth it. I think this is a case of local hype being high and it just fell flat for us. read more

Solid Meh! Drive in from another part of the state because their burger was supposed to be too 10 in the state. Verdict: lackluster. The Gouda cheese curds didn't complement the flavors of the meat well and the quantity of Mayo was significant overkill (tasted like the Mayo had spoiled). Ordered fries and they were great. So much so that we ordered more, but the second set took over a half hour. Some friends with us ordered before me and it took 10-15 minutes after us for them to get their food. The staff was rude and expressed a verbal disinterest in us getting Food. She said that they were having a "rush" with only a few tables other than our admittedly large group. Pigs in a blanket was small - flavors didn't combine well, and most importantly it was only a single pig in a single blanket - not multiple as advertised in writing. That said, the picture shows only one, so I guess that's on me. Definitey overpriced at $4 each. I was shocked to be charged for the ketchup to go with my hamburger. Absolutely crazy. The desert pancakes were great. Good flavor and reasonable size for the price. Won't be back though, the service from staff was too poor and the food overall not great. Would come back for desert only though Out of the top ten burgers in Iowa, this is definitely number 10 at best. Bathrooms were filthy and disgusting. We stopped in based on someones recommendation. The food was excellent and everything was fresh. The staff was pleasant and the facility was clean. I tried the gouda mac n cheese w/bacon it was pretty tasty. I also had the chixfix sandwich, that was excellent. I was surprised that I liked the Dutch red cabbage slaw because it had a semi sweet taste, I typically don't like food with sweetness to it. The sandwich was rather small but as a meal (sandwich,fries,drink), it's plenty. read more

A surprising little find in Pella. At first I thought it was just a typical fast food joint, but then realized it was actually Dutch food so we gave it a try. Great food and quick service and the employees were super friendly. My mom and I tried the giant double burger and split it just because that's THE thing to get here. It was HUGE and delicious, and plenty of food for two women. The grilled Dutch Gouda cubes on top were my favorite part! So much so that I had to buy some Gouda curds the next day and fried them at home for a snack! read more

As a Dutch native I was incredibly pleased to find this in what felt like the middle of nowhere. The town itself is so cute and this spot tugged at my heart strings. Everything you would want from bitterballen to Herring. We had fries, kroketten and bitterballen - all of which tasted genuinely authentic and totally delicious. I was in Pella for 2 weeks and had 3 count 'em, three "Gouda Burgers!" OMG fresh beef like a home made burger with Gouda on a great bun with all the fixings! It doesn't get any better unless you add fries which are also fresh not frozen. I got a Gouda Burger to go so I could have one before I got on the plane to go home. Can't wait to for my next visit to try Mac n Gouda! Gotta love the Dutch! read more

What a wonderful little fast food restaurant. It was a pleasant surprise to find dutch foods in a small town in the middle of nowhere so far away from Holland. The Original Pofferjes were my favorite. I felt like I was back in Amsterdam eatting here. My only complain is that they gave me my Stroopwaffle stiff and cold even though the menu said it would be warm and goofey. However, I asked if they could heat it up and they did with no problem. I wish they would open more locations in other European themed towns in America, like Solvang, CA or Leavenworth, WA. read more

Stopped by with my boyfriend and his friend, delicious and servings were more than plentiful. I got chicken strips (bc I'm a picky eater) as well as the strawberry&nutella poffertjes. Both were delicious but I focused more on the poffertjes (hope I spelt that right) and didn't even get to finish my chicken.
