Hello fellow Yelpers and Yelpettes…read more Finally decided to frame a print, and watercolor I have. After reading some of the Yelp reviews for Michael's across the street I decided to "run away quickly.". Called on a Saturday. Ended up leaving a message around noon-ish. Hopefully I would get a call back but not expecting one. Well, well, well..Received a call back a few hours later. Come in Monday. Went there Monday. The person who assisted me in picking my frames made great suggestions and was very patient. She didn't attempt to up sell me. Picked up my exquisite frames two weeks later. Worth the wait and price. Like John M. - I had an article that is not replaceable. DAF staff addressed it with aplomb. I will be taking family antiques to be framed by them as well. DAF does fantastic work. As always,..your mileage may vary, Peace out.

Then, tried to charge me more money bc they claimed their supplier messed up (the reason for the extra money kept changing). I actually paid it but they ended up calling me to refund it when I asked them to text me a reason for the additional payment (again, their story kept changing so I wanted a firm reason as I was splitting the cost with someone else). My guess is this is a family business. Everyone was very friendly and their work was good, but the delay, then subsequently asking me for more money without a consistent explanation, was surprising. (I wonder if they just started working on it the days before delivery and realized they didn't have the right frame and tried to off load the last minute shipping costs to me)

The finished frame was pieced together from small cuts of the same frame material. She especially recommends not paying high costs for large framing at Art Expo. She spoke to the owner who was not able to guarantee this would not happen on larger frame orders either. You can expect multiple cut/seams in large framing orders as well.

Their selection feels very curated and has a beautiful vibe. The store is rather quiet and there is plenty of room to walk around. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful if you need anything and will have genuine conversations with you during check out! So, is it called 1976 because many believe it is the most consequential year in the history of modern China? (It's Chinese-American owned). Or is the birth year of one of the Law family siblings? I'd guess it's bridging old school 1976 analog craftsmanship with the digital revolution-led letterpress and screen printing, since the store is the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, with a fully operational letterpress studio (they produce their own stationery), housing vintage, antique printing presses. They also curate independent art and host hands-on workshops. So, the name We Are 1976 suggests a collective identity rooted in a specific era, and their tagline "our dear assembly" is likely their way of saying, "This is the group of people, machines, and beautiful objects we have gathered together." Honestly, I just went in looking for a bathroom. They are 1976 but I was #2.
