It has been an amazing and pleasant experience working with Megan, the property manager of the apartment, who is very helpful and very patient during the progress of applying the Durham apartment. After touring over 10 apartments, I made my mind immediately right after walking into the unit that Megan presented to me. I was very happy to see a more efficient and reasonable arranged space comparing to other apartments I have visited. The living room, bedroom and walk-in closet are a lot larger, not mention the lovely balcony, indoor swimming pool, saner, cinema room and lots of nice public space for all the residents. Finding an apartment that can meet one's expectations won't be easy! Durham Apartment has almost everything that I am looking for. Recently the North Tower lost the elevators for days. Stranding residents, upsetting the building as a whole. 'Elevated Living' as they claim has turned into a complete mess. No matinance, all are 'rented' provided. This building has changed so much. It's filthy, the office staff is laughable. Cars get broken into, garbage in parking lot and throughout the building. The management company will rip you off one way or another. Great location and several different apartments nearby to explore. Stay away. read more

I must say the office staff was amazing, from setting up an appointment to viewing the apartments I felt like this was home for me. I must admit I love living here at the Durham! Just about every one here said they love living here as well. All the the amenities and spacious floor-plans I can't wait to finish unpacking so I can really enjoy the layout of my new apartment and spend time at the indoor pool and of course the theater room, and the list goals on. Maintenance is faster than I expected. If you have kids this is the place for you. Indoor playground and outdoor playgrounds.

I lived in Durham for 2 Years; moved out a year ago. One I moved out, they inspected the apartment. We cleaned it well and left it in an immaculate condition. I received $1500 bill a week ago indicating that they had to fix blinds and wall damages. Found out from an old neighbor that this is their routine. It is an obvious shake down. Please read other people's reviews and you will learn this is what they do. Save yourself a headache and stay away from this place. read more

rmk management is absolutely dont know how to manage property, very often so many problems, no maintenance, washing machine, elevator, swimming pool , outside ovens are dirty not working properly, they can tow any time your car from their parking so u can miss your job for that day, not advise u partnership with them read more

Moved here with my family in July 2019 and couldn't feel more comfortable! The building is always clean and well maintained and the management staff who make sure of it are friendly and welcoming and always eager to listen and help with any of your apartment issues if there are any. As a parent to 10 years old twins I'm mostly thankful for the indoor swimming pool that we use so often so we can have our kids get some physical activities when the weather outside is too bad for outdoors ones. There are other cool amenities like dry and wet saunas, great fitness room, a beautiful mini movie theater that we use at times as well and a relaxing cyber lounge to read, play, watch TV or just relax and use its computers. Apartments doesn't have their own laundry machines but there is a big laundry room at the first floor which is nice and clean and the machines are easy to use including the dryers. The building's office at the main entrance are there 7 day week to help with anything including keeping your mail packages and inform you by email when a package has arrived for you so you can pick it up at your convenience. The list is LONG but I also have to mention the parking space under the building that is a huge advantage when weather outside is nasty and walking to the car is not a pleasant option. You can rent your own parking space and go to your car in the underneath parking through the building, no need to be tortured outside! (There are bicycles and storage rooms available near the parking space as well!). The residents are a mixture of all ages, both American born and educated people from other countries. All are pleasant, respectful to others and quiet. Basically it's almost like living in a 5 stars hotel...everything is being taken care for you by the wonderful hard working staff! This 24/7 cameras-secured smart and safe building has spoiled us rotten plenty enough but darn it...if only they served a free breakfast here too! read more

Slapped with 550$ of move out fees after 12+ hours went into cleaning & the place was spotless. This place also doesn't have you make a security deposit for their legal benefit (once youre slapped with these unnecessary charges, you cant sue them b/c no security deposit.) Seeing as other people have posted this issue, it wouldn't surprise me that everyone gets inflated move out rates, for their bottom line. Everyone is also right about the front desk lady being rude as hell -- she never has a good day. read more

Can I just say that The Durham literally saved me from being homeless? Because they did. Breath. Of. Fresh. Air. After getting screwed by another apartment complex on my supposed move in day, my parents and I sat in my car next to the fully loaded U-Haul 1000 miles from home and frantically started searching the internet for a place to live with immediate availability. We called around, toured several places, and The Durham was the last place of the day. We had several options by that point, thank God, but walking into The Durham really was a breath of fresh air. From the minute I arrived I knew I had found the place. Deb, the leasing agent, and Iris, the manager, took fantastic care of me. I was moved in just 30 hours after the apartment fiasco from hell. And guess what? Their smiling faces didn't change after I signed on the dotted line. They are authentic and really care about their tenants, and I loved it! First impression: The grounds of The Durham are beautiful. The building is well kept, even for being 30+ years old.. we would have never guessed it was that old of a construction. Everything is secured with controlled entry which is great for someone coming and going at weird hours like me. The lobby is in the process of being redone so I'll refrain from commenting other than it looks good as it is and am excited to see the new and improved version, the gym is brand new with top of the line equipment, and the common hallways are redone with new flooring/paint/soon to be lighting. Hallways do smell like cooking around dinner time. I've always had private entries at prior apartments so I think this is just one thing I need to learn to live with. It doesn't permeate my apartment and that's all I care about. My apartment itself is great. I won't say much because I know each apartment in a complex varies based on wear and tear of prior tenants, but mine personally is fantastic. New(ish) faucets, flooring, countertops, appliances etc. Finishings don't look as old as the building = no nasty lighting or ancient kitchens! Iris and Deb seem to like things well kept and with the higher price of rent, I appreciate it. It smelled heavenly walking in and I am so proud to call it my home. They just redid the balcony flooring for the building (literally yesterday) and it looks beautiful. My only complaint about the apartment is a lack of washer/dryer but everything else about The Durham overrides that disappointment. Maintenance - I had two minor things when I first moved in. One was resolved in an hour, the other less than 24 hours. The guys always say hi to me in the elevator and are super friendly. Amenities - what I expect for a complex such as The Durham. Think with the new renovations it will exceed expectations by far. Gym (my favorite part!), indoor pool, children's room, dry cleaning services, sauna, heated underground parking included in rent. Honestly I was disappointed there wasn't an outdoor pool - until I visited Lake Calhoun today and realized I am going to be just fine in that regard. Utilities - This is a separate bullet for me because I wish heat were included and it's not. I think that's pretty standard for places such as The Durham. I haven't received a utility bill yet so I can't say how it runs price wise. Not looking forward to winter. Location - Right where you want to be! Next to Galleria and Southdale Mall. Super Target basically across the street. Chipotle is half a mile away... Those are my deal breakers and they're all there. Stay tuned for an updated review. The apartment is nice enough but the construction makes living here unlivable. Beware of renting here, the rental company has a trick to trap tenets in the lease. They have what they call a market rate then give a discount, the discount makes the price competitive with other rentals in the area. I thought it was a tactic to deny renters with lower income. In order to break the lease I'd have to repay the rental discount for every month I've lived here. In essence breaking the lease would destroy my credit. The walls literally shake from air hammers being used, there is no escape from this noise. Random banging and pounding on other days, this is the worst apartment I've ever rented and I have to wait until next year when the lease ends before I can move. read more

When we first moved in, everything was well cared for under the previous manager, Iris, and we appreciated living in a diverse community. However, over the last six months, the management seems unconcerned about a number of issues. For example, there have been 4 fire evacuations within 6 months, with one fire causing extensive smoke and water damage that affected units on10 floors. These fires are caused by foreign workers who have no knowledge or experience using some appliances and traditionally cook with oil, which is highly flammable. We have also witnessed one man blowing off his eyebrows while attempting to use a gas grill, and another man who nearly blew up 2 grills (and us!) trying to light them. I've suggested that all new residents should have written instructions and demonstrations for operating appliances and that safety protocols be established. In fact, we have never had a fire drill and some residents even refuse to leave during an alarm. The property "rules" are not enforced for resident and guest parking; trash and discarded mattresses and furniture are dumped on the loading docks or near dumpsters, despite signs. Thank goodness there is a daily cleaning crew. Safety is sketchy. Recently, I've encountered 3 men in the underground garage (separate occasions) waiting for someone to let them in because they "forgot" their electronic key fobs. Obviously, there are some units that are packing in unauthorized people. Noise was never a problem until the last few months. Residents should be instructed to place their TV's and surround sound systems on inside walls to avoid disturbing neighbors, and understand that city noise ordinances apply and are enforced. I have been jolted out of sleep numerous times by the noise from a gamer, despite using white noise. Not acceptable! Even my Uber drive knew this place has problems. I'm looking for a new place in this great neighborhood. read more

I wish I could zero this apartment. Worst place to live and worst staff to deal with. The lady sitting at the front office is very RUDE and does not listen to residents. I don't understand why management does not take any responsibility towards their staff being rude instead of praising them when you go to complain. ii found the durham to have gone downhill after living there for quite some time,the security has gone bad they used to have a watchman and closed circuit cameras that were monitored and he could respond imediately they dont work anymore and the securitiy system now is not apparently is not monitored no response during breakins, poorly lit garage, people sneak in through in an unlocked back entrance, leading into the garage right across fom the bikeroom where alot of bikes were stolen all in a police report from edina plice department, also got my trumpet from my car i thought it was safe in the garage that was supposed or used to be protected, they are also nickel and diming you for everything from replacing handles on a new fridge to moving out some kind of room mate release form that they say is required and will cost 50 dollars, not only that i was told by the manager that they can raise those rates without notice so it ncould have been 10000000.00 bucks there is no quote for anything they can charge you anything, does not sound legal, dont ever get caught up in hat mess, Who knows if they charge you too much you can never leave. I could go on and on about how horrible this place is, the random charges on your monthly statements, the screaming kids in the hallway, the hallways that legit smell so bad some days I have to hold my breath from the elevator to my apartment, the actual apartments are horrible and don't bother trying to use any of the "amenities" cause they are always broken or disgusting (I have pictures of mold growing in the washing machines because they never clean them.... yes their "brand new" laundry facility, that you are lucky to get one open washer because they have 1 laundry room for like 200 apartments) and the things that are broken are never repaired with quality. The woman down the hall from us went a whole week without heat this winter, no decrease on her rent or even an apology and she had kids living with her. This place is horrible, spend your money somewhere else. read more

OMG! We needed a place to live while our hone was being rebuilt and The Durham was our choice. We are a couple with a dog and a college student all living together. We found a 2 bedroom apartment in the South Tower that allowed private space for all of us and great amenities to enjoy without leaving the complex. The staff was very accessible and maintenance fixed our minor problems (lightbulbs, sliding door stuck) so fast we could not believe it. We would go back in a minute, you should give it a look.
