I think it's great that Total Wine is branching out and increasing the variety of drinks they sell! I love Soju and Sake, and I really like being able to get rewards points on my favorite drinks. I wish they could do tasting events at this store, but I just don't think they have the space to host an event.

It's a wine store sure but they deal with customers. One would think they would make themselves available instead of "lurking" in shadows somewhere. I had to call out a couple of times before someone called for another staff member to help. I will save the gas and just shop in Greensboro to r even better in VA when visiting family.

I stopped here last week and was pleasantly surprised at the beer and wine selection that were on shelves and in the coolers. Both are fairly extensive. There is a bar which is in the center of the space. They have a nice tap selection featuring beers from the Red Oak, Raleigh and Trophy Brewing companies. I sat and had a nice IPA from Bombshell Brewing. I then purchased a six pack of Hazy IPA from RBC. While I was leaving I noticed a Taco food truck pulling up for the night. The entire store is filled with wines from all over the world. The best part? None of them are from big companies. Every single one of them are from local/ small businesses (You can see some of the business owners photos by the wines!). The owner/ founder of Wine Authorities has been working with a lot of the wineries for many years. They taste every new batch they purchase to ensure quality. Although they have many businesses they've been working with for a long time, they go to wine shows and events in Europe to discover new ones! I like my wine very sweet but there were so many choices that I was a bit overwhelmed. I asked the nice lady at the register to give me recommendations and I loved the wine she recommended. If you are a bit overwhelmed with all the choices, just ask for help. They are very informative and helpful! Aside from their amazing wine, they also have beer, cider, sake, hot sauce, honey, meats, and etc. You will find at least one thing you will love. On Saturdays, they have free wine tastings from 12-3pm! If you cannot make it there on time, you can always buy a bottle or two. They will give you glasses to drink in the back or outside if the weather is nice outside! You can also buy snacks or cheese to go with your wines. Also, if you are a little hungry, you can buy a bottle from Wine Authorities and head to Thai Cafe next door and they will let you drink there without extra charge!

A larger store meant more options and it was great in that regard. The layout of the store is nicely done and it appeared clean. The produce department was mostly good, but was picked over and not restocked around noon on a Sunday. The sale items on the shelves were similar. I liked that they carried three varieties of the Quaker Oat Squares cereal as I have trouble even finding one variety at other Harris Teeter stores. The shelf placement on the top shelf with the boxes left in the back meant that I could not reach them so could not purchase them. Most shoppers won't be able to reach them. They did have more varieties of Fage yogurt, unlike the other Harris Teeters, so that was a good thing. There were only two checkouts open during a busy time of the day.

Louella's came up as one of the few still open after 9 PM. I checked the website, and found that they have not, one, not two, but an entire page of fortified wines and Vermouth! As a cocktail nerd, this place checked boxes I didn't even realize I had! There's half a rack of bitters and other premixes. The atmosphere on this blissfully warm night in September was dimly lit, quietly elegant ambiance music (Think Brian Eno, Volcano Choir, or Bon Iver) From outside, with two large TVs above a bar, you may think it's a typical sports bar. But no one here is drinking beer, they have pizza from down at Hutchin's Garage and various wines out on the tables out front. With real glasses. Like adults. Here in the south in a semi-pandemic semi-lock-down. After picking out three different sweet vermouth to try, I bought a glass of Dolcetto and a pre-boxed cheese/meat tray. Although the cheese was from the cooler, as it set out, it was evidently fairly fresh, because it warmed up testily. Sadly, they close at 10, so I'll have to wrap this up later. Suffice it to say, if you're looking for a place to grab a special bottle to upscale your Negroni, or just can't seem to find Pechaud's bitters anywhere, now you have a place to check out. There is an entire 85% more of the store to explore for me, since I had arrived with a narrow purpose and found it immediately. But you can bet, I'll be back. It's within walking distance of FullSteam, MotorCo, Hutchin's, Cocoa Cinnamon's Old North Durham location. They've only been open for six months, when you don't count COVID time, so give 'em some love, folks! They are the type folks we need to support!

I've been to quite a few Total Wine shops and this location is the worst I've been to. There was a large spill on the ground that was there for quite awhile and the cashier was a bit rude to me during checkout. I would come back to try it again but overall, it wasn't the best experience. The only reason why I put 4 stars instead of 3 is because I was able to find my plum wine and a bunch of different local and imported beers.
