Had an issue with my door - service came out and fixed it within 5 minutes - polite and professional.

Durabuilt wanted all money up-front for the job, multiple windows ended up with marks inside the sealed panes (even a hand print on one pane) and had to be redone, had to fight for weeks to get them replaced and some of the repaired windows again were a problem, very poor quality workmanship on the windows, also the clear rubber stand-offs inside the window for the inlay grill discolors after a few years, then some of the sun-facing window seals failed within 1 to 2 years. This company provides very bad quality windows and service!!!!!!! I cannot even give them 1 star for their rating because of such bad work, but am forced to by the software to proceed. Any good reviews are a lie and posted by the company themselves to increase their standing on here. Have since dealt with other companies that provide much better quality and service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

It is a long story of what happens to me as I got all new windows replaced by Durabuilt it turned out to be a disaster. They really recked my house. From smashed out stuco, leaving a mess, not putting up trim inside and out. The worst part is they are all defective. My house is always cold letting drafts in through the windows. The communication and service was extremely bad. Also was yelled at by one of their managers. Now they will not return my calls or email. I just want to warn people and not happen what happened to me. read more

Widows and price were great. Very easy and friendly to deal with. Technician was professional and did a top notch install.

I wish there could be a negative rating. We purchased a complete window package for our new home. 12 years later we have had an 80% failure of the window seals on the 35 window package. The 20 year warranty sounds good, installation is not covered so add $200+ per window. After 10 years the warranty is prorated so the cost only goes up. We are at about $5000 and we do our own installation!!! Add to that customer service for warranty...very slow. read more

Horrible customer service. The sales employee Ryan was excellent at his job and that's why we were confident that we would have a great experience with Durabuilt however then we encountered problems and both the supervisor and the manager were both horrible. Went behind my back to a window cleaner and wouldn't pay them to complete the job and said see if she notices. I got told by management that it was none of my business and that I was being unreasonable. I am still shocked at how I have been treated. Here I am joining the others with a negative review for $200 bill. It is so silly but the principal behind it isn't. The customer service sucks! I paid for a service I never received. I tried reaching out on at least 4 different occasions and never got a response. I will never recommend this business nor will I use their service. I initially went with Durabuilt because they are a "reputable" business but I was mistaken. There are plenty of other fish in the sea Durabuilt, and I won't be a returning Customer. In the grand scheme of things I realize they won't care BUT don't underestimate the power of word of mouth experiences shared with family and friends. They installed a faulty window. When I called them to come fix it, they charged me $120.00 to send out 2 people to say it is faulty. They did not fix it. Worst issue is our windows are fully frosted or condensation on them when humidity is 70% or over. Can't see out our windows till sun burns it off. Totally unacceptable! Hello Durabuilt Support, I would like this issue resolved before winter. I do not want freezing temperatures in this room again another year because of our broken window and being neglected by Durabuilt customer service. As shared on Google reviews, and other media platforms: Had settlement cracks in my window. Discovered and reported in Summer 2020 to my builder. This was still within the builder warranty. They communicated to Durabuilt to come to fix this. Pictures attached of that. No frame damage there in the window crack images. 1. When they finally came, they brought a small window for the laundry room. They didn't even bring the right window. By the time they finally came it was the fall. I think November of 2020. 2. Before the crack we could open the window all the way. After "the repair" the frame was damaged all around the edges and we could no longer open the window. They damaged the frame of our window when they replaced the glass. See attachments that show we can't open window all the way and frame damage. The frame is damaged on at least 3 sides. 3. More calls, more tickets to get this fixed. Their technician came, finally Summer of 2021. They said to me verbatim: "This is heat damage. If was caused by Durabuilt when we replaced the glass. The technician would have had to heat the frame to get the glass out in the fall. The only other explanation is if the house was built by the builder in the winter, then it could have been a heat fan used to blow through the window during construction." When I asked if this was a warranty issue, or there was anything else this could have been they assured me it was a warranty issue. There wasn't anything else they could think of. The other possibility of course is defective material in the window, which would still be a warranty. 4. Our house was inspected when we took possession in June 2019. There was no damage to this window frame. Before the crack, we could open the window all the way, as there was no damage to the window frame. In the picture of the crack, the parts of the frame have no damage. After the glass was replaced the frame was damaged. Therefore, Durabuilt damaged our window frame, whether by accident (or on purpose to get more money out of us). 5. Why do I say that? The technician said they would follow up with us about what needs to be done. We never received follow up. I have to put another ticket in through their website, and follow up by phone call. 6. When we followed up by phone they said they will have to look into this and get back to us. Very suspicious. There's a lot of paperwork on this. Why couldn't they look it up and immediately get back to us? 7. I had to follow up with builder and New Home Owners Warranty program, and follow up with Durabuilt again. 8. Then I got an email from Wanda now in fall of 2021 telling me the tech says it's heat damage from blinds. That they could "try" a hot glue repair for $105, and if that doesn't work it means replacing the whole frame. I would have to pay for the hot glue repair, and I would have to pay for a new frame. They are saying that I damaged the window with my blinds. So, as you can see, things are not adding up. Why is the company changing the story and lying to me to try to get out of the damage they caused? 9. We don't put the blind down in this room. This happens to be the guest room and we don't have anyone staying in this room. We have no reason to put the blind down in this room, we open our windows for airflow when it's hot. When we have put blinds down in any other room of the house we leave room at the bottom of the window and put our air circulation on. This allows air to flow from the vents below the window up along the windows to prevent overheating. Unfortunately, it is impossible for blinds to have caused heat damage to this window. It was a good "try" to blame us for this damage, but there's no good evidence for it. The window was damaged by the installer, or the window material installed is defective. Furthermore, when you look at the corner and edges of the frame it was not reinstalled properly. 10. As this is a warranty issue. As the damage to the frame of the window was caused by Durabuilt in the replacing of the glass. As I have been neglected and ignored as a customer for nearly a year. I do expect Durabuilt to fix this problem. 11. It would be great if we could avoid Durabuilt criminal charges of vandalism and a lawsuit for breach of warranty contract and incompetent craftsmanship. read more

Purchased 11 windows for $10,000 less than three years ago. Noticed was getting condensation in between the panes last fall in 5 of the windows. Contacted Durabuilt and they said since the warranty had expired four months ago (warranty apparently is two years on labour and 10 years on product) That I would have to pay a$1,000 charge to have the five windows replaced. they said I could find someone else to install them but after contacting a few contractors, no one would touch their windows. I wound up paying the charge and the installers were here for a total of 45 minutes.!!!! So over $1000 an hour Labour charge to replace a faulty product. Never again. save yourself the hassle and money and find a different manufacturer with a better warranty. I know I will read more

We had the windows replaced. About 5 years ago and the new are in worse shape that the old ones. We haves leaks and streaks of discoloration running down the sides on Half of them, mold growing on one, they are filthy dirty and we can't get the crap off the insides of some of them. I watched them leave them outside in the rain with no coverings - not secured high up!- took pictures of it. The wind was do bad they were blown and smashed up against the home - there is a knick on the inside of the main kitchen window. It was a horrific experience trying to get customer service. Absolutely terrible customer service. The sales consultant I've been working with put the wrong specs on my order form and foolishly I trusted that he did his job properly. Now that I've received my $2,000 patio sliding door, Durabuilt won't do a thing to help solve the problem because "I had the chance to review and sign the contract and catch the error before the order" Sorry Durabuilt, but if your salespeople can't take an order properly and then their solution is "Go sell it on Kijiji and then call me when you want to order a new one" that is just terrible customer service. I highly do not recommend using Durabuilt Windows and Doors if you're doing a home renovation of any sort. Also, the fact that they don't have reviews enabled on your Facebook page is very indicative of the quality of service they offer. read more

We used durabuilt through our builder and I am warning people never to use them as a company. We have been in our house for just over a year and they have come to our house over 8 times and still haven't fixed the two windows that need to be replaced. They have come without windows, with the wrong windows, windows that weren't the right size, not enough windows, windows that didn't match the rest of our houses windows and so on. They have even called us to book an appointment not realizing we already had one. They are highly disorganized and don't understand that people can't take off work to sit at home and wait for them to not have their windows replaced yet again. read more

Would absolutely never recommend this company for windows, horrible work and horrible costumer service. After 8 + visits to our home and they still can not order or get our window fixed. After we moved into our new build we constantly complained about one window and they kept having to come and do little fixes because they wouldn't replace it. This could've caused us mold issues and we've been loosing heat in our home over 3 years. When they finally agreed to fix it we noticed the other 2 windows that we never use had also failed and they said it was up to us to pay labour because we didn't tell them before...how can you have three windows fail in three years and put that on us. They didn't use a measuring tape so they ordered the wrong window, then when it came the plastic on the window didn't line up so now they have to order a new one. One worker seemed upset when he had to wear a mask in my home. In my opinion windows are cheaply made. read more

In October of 2017, I had approximately 20 windows changed out by durabilt. There were significant issues with the install that needed to be fixed. To their credit they did make appropriate fixes. I had been told by durabuilt that they would submit energy rebate requests to the alberta gov. for me. They hadn't by April, so I called them and was assured it would be done. I phoned the Alberta energy rebate people today (July 16, 2018) and they have never heard of me, so here we go again! read more

This is a review in progress, and unfortunately we aren't out of the woods on this project yet. We chose Durabuilt because we were impressed with the product and the quote was competitive, but be very careful -- if service, communication, reliability, and integrity matter to you then proceed with caution. Whatever cost savings you think you might have will be lost in terms of delays, wrong product, installing the wrong product, lack of communication and much more. You will end up paying way more in other construction delays and problems. Their own installation staff told us that it wasn't just our home, but a few others as well. While we understand that errors happen, the way that errors are handled is completely unacceptable. You will be kept in the dark, confused, and very misled: - Sales staff are unresponsive, unavailable, and unaccountable for errors. I had to show up IN PERSON at their office to get a response from their salesperson because he wasn't returning calls/texts/anything from our project manager. - When product was going to be delayed yet again, the salesperson said that he didn't want to call our project manager to let him know because he was worried it wouldn't go well. So I had to explain to him about the importance of communication and it was his JOB . - Sales staff did not inform us that they installed the windows with the INCORRECT window pane size and we only found out because we happened to be on site when their staff members were taking the windows out. No communication that they installed the wrong product. - When I tried to call the salesperson, he could not reached AGAIN. So I called their office reception to locate him and the receptionist told me he was out of the office that day(Friday) and would not return till Tuesday. None of this information was on his voicemail nor was there an out of office reply. I asked if that was actually good customer service and he responded with "I was only gone for one day". SERIOUSLY?!?! So I asked "who looks after your clients when you are away if they have any questions or concerns?" SILENCE! We understand that one offs and mistakes happen, but it's how a company responds, repairs, and reacts that matters. We have screenshots and documentation of all of this (wrong deliveries, problematic product, lack of responses, site photos, etc, etc) and we would be happy to share. read more

We built our house in 2012 and chose durabuilt windows and doors. What a mistake! We had to change out both exterior doors at 5 yrs...no warranty (customer service around that was non existent) Now our very expensive triple pane window is fogged up on the inside! Such poor quality that I could never recommend these to anyone. read more

If I could put a review in the negatives, I would. We spent a lot of money with this company on 17 windows and 2 doors. The sills and jambs on some of the windows were scratched. Every screen had either paint damage and some were manufactured loose/crooked. A service rep came out to survey our claim; his manager called a few days later to say they wanted to charge us $500.00 to repair windows that arrived damaged from their manufacturing facility. Naturally we are not going to pay this ridiculous fee. So, here we sit...installation was complete June 27th and almost a month later we still have damaged windows and screens. We are also unable to order blinds to cover our very large windows for privacy and safety's sake. I would not recommend buying any product from this irresponsible group of people. read more

We had Durabuilt put in when we bought the house 5 years ago. So I just went with Durabuilt again when I needed to put an egress window in the basement. One of the selling points of Durabuilt over their competitors is that their egress window has a "built-in 1/2" drywall return for improved installation efficiencies". It's too bad the design of the in-swing window has to go above drywall return to lock in the hinge. So essentially the drywall return is a flawed design. The very first time I opened the window, the hinge system tried to rip out of the frame. The southside store didn't want to deal with it, they even said to me that an egress window shouldn't be used like a regular window. And they said to call warranty line. Warranty said it wasn't covered because the window was sold as is. So I ended filing a claim with BBB. Head office contacted me and said yes it does have warranty and sent out a tech to repair the window (by screwing in a bigger screw to the hinge). So my most recent experience with them tells me that: 1. The design of some of their products is crap. 2. They sell products they don't believe in. 2. Nobody has any idea what they're doing anymore. 4. Quality has gone down hill. read more

Many mistakes were made by manufacturing staff making the patio door. Cannot read simple specs to make the door correctly and poor internal systems that staff do not communicate well in order to deliver a good product. We were told many times that the door was ready and stayed home from work to accommodate this and then the door was once again incorrectly made. After 4 doors being made, it is completely ridiculous the lack of attention to detail in manufacturing and the amount of errors that could happen. The staff are either very poorly trained or just don't know how to build a customized door. The process started in July and it is now December and we are still without one patio door. This company completely lacks integrity, especially the sales staff who are completely dishonest and lie to the customer. This company is all about the dollar and does not care about customer service or making sure the customer is happy. We even tried to contact the sales supervisor since the sales person, Craig Olsen was not returning calls. The supervisor is also dishonest and unresponsive and the president of the company was unresponsive. Worst customer service experience ever! read more

Durabuilt 8-month battle over Warrantee Nightmare: It was the most pathetic experience of customer service I have ever heard of. In a span of 8 months, we had to make endless phonecalls, start the process over and over again, we'd been handed off to 10 different people who wouldn't give us their names for follow-up, we had been told that they had lost our file three times, we had to make visits to their offices to demand service and we had to email endless documents to prove our case. DO NOT purchase from this company! Full Story: We had bought twelve thousand dollars-worth of windows from Durabuilt back in 2015 when we first started our house build, installing them that fall so that we could move into our home before the snow started to fly. Fast forward to September of 2016 when my husband and I were installing siding and I decided to clean the windows as we went since we had scaffolding set up. With two of our south-facing windows, I noticed that the seal was no longer touching the window pane, that the glass had somehow shifted and warped the windows, leaving gaps for outside air to make its way in. We immediately called Durabuilt and were asked to send photos. On Sept 21, we sent photos and were told that we would be contacted shortly. By mid-October, we still hadn't heard anything back, so we called, several times before actually getting any action on our problem. They scheduled a serviceman to come take a look later that month. By December 12, we STILL had not heard anything back from them, so my husband sent an email asking the status: no reply. We decided to pay a visit to their office, at which point they introduced us to a "manager" who apologized profusely, blaming the delay on anything and everything possible; they lost our file, the person who was taking care of our file went to Dubai for a month and locked our file away in his desk, they had no record of the serviceman coming to our home, etc etc. She promised she would handle it. They sent the serviceman out again in January and then we didn't hear anything back. When I called later in January, I was told that the lady who we'd spoken to had quit and they had to start the process over yet AGAIN! So, on February 6, I went into their offices and demanded to speak to a manager, a real live manager. When they told me they were all in a meeting, I said I would wait. They realized I was not going anywhere, so they sent down two nameless men who made excuse after excuse as to why we still hadn't got our windows and they told me that their service manager now needed to come take a look. The service manager was apparently so busy that he couldn't make it out to our house until Mar 6. Keep in mind, it has now been 6 months of trying to get two windows replaced on warrantee. The manager, nameless at this point, came out and we were told that they would now be putting in a rush to have the windows delivered, however, that the serviceman wouldn't be able to deliver for 4 weeks due to him being needed in Grand Prairie. So we waited. And waited. And by April 19, we STILL hadn't heard anything back. I called Durabuilt and was given a voicemail for yet another nameless "manager" so I let them have it. My husband and I had decided at that point that we were going to call every single day until they got us our windows. On April 20, I was able to get a hold of the "manager" who was actually an assistant. He had been given zero background of our file, so I explained our situation and was told that I would get a call back, at which point I lost my mind. I explained how we had been given the run-around for 7 months at this point and that I was going to take legal action if it was not resolved. He responded with snotty retort, saying that he was innocent in all of this: if you represent a company, you are to back your company and ensure your customers are being taken care of. He promised to get his manager to call me. April 21, I still hadn't heard anything from the manager, so both my husband and I left voicemails for the manager. The weekend rolled by and then promptly again on Monday April 24, I called again. I finally got a hold of the actual manager, who we'd learned was Amar Singha, who told me they had no record of our purchases. I had to find our own copies and email them to him. I also sent a letter of legal action, telling them that if the issue hadn't been resolved by May 15 that we would pursue legal action against them. Not surprisingly, I didn't hear from him. The next day, I got a phonecall from yet another nameless person at Durabuilt who said that Singha had passed off the file to him; apparently he was sick of dealing with me. However, this new nameless fellow actually finally took action, having our window builds rushed in two days. We had a delivery notification on May 1 and the windows showed up to our home on May 3. I would NEVER recommend Durabuilt and strongly suggest that you reconsider other options for windows. read more

Be careful, I ordered a custom window and right away there were problems with it when I got it home. The window was sticking shut because of 4 problems, screws where drilled in crooked and was rubbing on the cranking arm which caused it to stick on the top and bottom, in all there were 8 screws that were crooked. The top and bottom corners of the window were badly cut out which made a sharp point were it was rubbing the rubber gaskets. Also they glued 2 pieces of the frame that was not flush, this was about 1/8" off. With all these problems it tells me that they have no quality control at all in their shop. Will never order from them again. Thank goodness it was only 1 window, I have 21 more windows to replace. read more

Mid Dec 2016 we had a large bird hit picture window and break it, All the windows in the house were Durabuilt due to house fire 2009, so we thought we would replace with same kind. Biggest mistake of life to call Brad Lotz of Durabuilt ( southside ). O sure he was very understanding and promised fast service due to it being winter and losing heat from boarded up window. First came we are closing plant Dec 16 th till Jan 9 th, but would put rush on it. waited a month, had to call few times and told by Brad he was on it. Brad personal measure the window himself, ( as I told him i'm not comfortable measuring it ), Paid him for the window, and in return I got story after story, best one ( my installers are in Florida ). Finally after many calls they installed window, got call from son that was home to let installers in, telling me something wasn't looking, they were adding a 2 by 4 around inside house so window would fit, told him the window was wrong size, they cut down all the inside trim boards and now have the edge of drywall showing, removed siding trim outside and put wide brick molding round to cover screw up, called brad and he told the window was wrong size, and that he would redo. again waited and nothing, again after month called to see whats going on, was told be happy you have a window, ask if he could keep me up to date. again nothing freom Brad ( no calls or window ) called him, ( not in ) I talked to receptionist about speaking to a manger, was told one would get back to me, Brad calls me madder then a honet, telling me if I talk to a manger I would get nothing, I told him to calm down and fix his mistake, and to date nothing, no calls, no stories, nothing !!! read more

Our home is just over 3 years old, durabuilt Edmonton installed our windows. Within the first year we had problems of water coming through our door window that had blinds in it. We were told the problem was fixed. It never was fixed, I was told by another window installer to get them back out to our home as we have 10 year warranty on our house. In the last store over ten window had water coming through, when the senior installer came out he took the frame off one of the windows and we were told they hadn't been sealed or insulated, he said he would order us 2 new windows and when he came back to install he would seal and insulate the rest. We just received an invoice to do this work via e-mail???? Are you kidding me??? Charging us again for a job that wasn't done properly in the first place? I will be contacting BBB, New Home Warranty, and Global, this is unbelievable. Go anywhere but here for windows for your home new or old. Buyer beware when dealing with this company. read more
