I very much recommend that, if you should decide to use this contractor, be sure to only pay as much as is needed to get the job done and only pay in full when the contract is completed to your satisfaction.

He worked hard to get us a price we could afford and we finally pulled the trigger. All of the employees are timely, respectful, and friendly. They installed a 30,000 BTU compressor with 2 heads on our first floor, all in one day. They treated us and our property with respect, as they laid down cloth tarps in every room that they were working in. They were upbeat and positive the whole time. They even responded well to some last minute changes on both sides. Payment was easy, half before, half after. They were even able to upgrade us at the last minute for no additional charge. I wish every contractor experience could go this way, lord knows we've had some nightmares. Lastly, they stand by their work and told us to call with any problems or questions, and for service down the road. From A to Z, these guys are the best HVAC company around. FYI---We ended up having a leak in one of the condensation lines, looks like a bit of a hasty install on that one, but they sent someone out right away to fix. Tried to follow up with Kyle regarding rebates, I didn't realize that you had to send them in right away, or that you needed to look on the side of each unit for the bar code. I never heard back from Kyle on that, would have appreciated some better communication there on how to go about that process. It's not as easy as one might think. Doesn't change my rating and I'll use them again. More of a point to note and maybe a suggestion for the company.

The electronics got an induced current 8 feet below ground! Tom was amazing, he gave me instructions how to adjust it so it was working how I liked the hot water. Tom also odered an exact replacement electronics before his Vacation the next day and came back after VACAY to install this Aquastat on my boiler and paid only when he finished the job with a new part. As someone previously in the home energy and sustainability field, I get asked often about our heat…read morepumps and I am constantly telling people to avoid this company. NE Ductless installed our heat pumps in 2021 and it's been one problem after another. Our air handler was faulty from the beginning and needed to be replaced immediately, they were not responsive to requests to inspect the system two years later and troubleshoot why it wasn't able to keep up in the winter months, and we subsequently had a subpar service visit from them. I knew I was really done with them when I identified that they used a product in my install that is prone to corrosion and refrigerant leaks, and they refused to do anything unless/until a leak occurs. Now, I've had a major leak into my bedroom from the air handler and it was discovered that there were several things NE Ductless did incorrectly during the install that caused the leak (including an improper joint transition in the drainage line that was kinked and caused the system to back up, drainage parts that hadn't been installed, and a drain pan that was noticeably pitched instead of level as it should have been). The company who came to fix it was really shocked at how poor of an installation it was, and of course these things were not noticed when they came for service less than 2 years prior. When I let NE Ductless know, I got a defensive email back. This company does not stand by its work and its customer service is atrocious. Run, don't walk.

Boston Standard sold and installed a brand-new heat pump HVAC system for my home, representing that it was properly sized and appropriate for the unit. The installation itself appeared to go smoothly, and cooling worked as expected through the summer and fall. However, once winter temperatures arrived, the system failed to perform. For 16 consecutive days, my family was unable to get our home above 63°F, despite repeated assurances that the issue had been resolved. Our infants slept in sweatshirts and we relied on space heaters during that period. Over those 16 days, Boston Standard made five separate service visits, each time diagnosing a different root cause: - First guy reset the system then told me it was working like normal - Then, second guy diagnosed an electrical/wiring issue and said that was fixed - Third visit was improper airflow causing the gas to blow out - Fourth was faulty sensors and a replacement control board - Finally, they resolved after troubleshooting live with the manufacturers support where they had to rig the control board wiring in a confusing way  Throughout this process, communication was inconsistent. At various points I was told parts were needed, then that they were not. I was repeatedly told the system was "fixed" when it clearly was not. Escalation was difficult, and it took multiple attempts over several days to reach a service manager Joe Trainito. The most troubling part is not that there was an issue, but that Boston Standard did not fully understand how to install or configure the system they sold me. From a homeowner's perspective, it felt like troubleshooting & training was being done live on my house, at my family's expense. Several people at the company acknowledged that they were having widespread issues with these new installs. When I asked what they would do to make this right, the primary offer was a 10% warranty extension, which was not meaningful after a prolonged failure. A request for a partial refund was met with an offer of $1,000, less than 4% of the total project cost, despite the system being unusable for heat for a significant portion of the winter. This was a full, ground-up HVAC replacement that should have been correctly designed, installed, and supported in the first place. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of that standard. I cannot recommend Boston Standard based on reliability, execution, or post-installation support and will not be using them again.

I received an email in August stating that I had a balance over due so called the company stating that I had no prior knowledge of the service. Somehow giving the customer a call to schedule a service was too difficult for these people. I explicitly told the person on the phone that they are to notify me prior to coming onto my property. I even have a "No Trespassing/Private Property" sign at the entrance. HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION FROM THIS COMPANY.

My hot water tank was leaking so I called Reichert and Sons to come out and help. As usual, they were extremely nice when I called. I paid the service fee of $175 and someone came out the next day. The technician inspected my unit and told me that my pipping was getting old and I could replace the pipes or eventually replace the hot water tank. I asked him how much it would cost for each option and he said he would need to talk to the main office and they would send me a quote and I could decide. The next day I received a $4,000 quote to replace the hot water tank. I called to ask about the quote to just fix the pipes. The woman on the line said she would need to speak to her manager and get back to me. Two days later they sent me the same $4,000 replacement only quote with the last sentence changed to "Tank can not be repaired - replace is the only option." This is not what the technician told me. To be thorough, I called a different company who came out and told me the tank isn't that old and I should replace the pipping. He fixed the pipping for $300 and that was over 4 months ago with no problems since. I am glad I went to a different vendor because trying to cheat people out of money is a horrible way to do business. I haven't asked for my $175 service fee back because I don't want to communicate with unethical people. If you do go to Reichert & Sons, I suggest you get a second opinion.
