What can I say about Anne the Plumber? I am so happy with their integrity, knowledge and the level of service. The work was thoughtful, creative and expertly done. What is truly impressive is the time they spent with me explaining the nature of the plumbing problem and its solutions, even before the job began. From the beginning of the job to end, Anne the Plumber took meticulous care and I felt as if it were the most important project that they were doing that day. And, it was not a simple job, like a leaky faucet, it was a complicated job. They had to literally build piping for a washer and dryer that had no infrastructure already in place. The money I spent was worth every penny. I will only use Anne the Plumber for my own condo, and my building has used them as well, with excellent results. read more

Wanted to hire 'Anne the Plumber' to support local woman owned businesses. Sorry to say I am extremely underwhelmed with their work, and even less with their pricing. Specifically listed things I needed done. Leaky shower was not fixed, just recalked. They fixed a pipe in my flowerbed and replaced two spigots. Over $620... Asked him to tighten two faucets and he wanted to charge $225x2 to tighten two bolts. Will need to call in another plumber to fix shower. Will not use, nor recommend, this company. read more

Very disappointing. Anne the Plumber's tech did not fix the problem after arriving and saying they would. We had to hire another plumber, who came and resolved the issue within 5 minutes. Ironically the solution was a simple adjustment to the unit that one of Anne's tech had previously installed. If leaving your kitchen without hot water (which we had when they arrived) and then refusing to return unless we agreed to pay another visit fee sounds okay to you, then give them a call. Also, who doesn't itemize their bills, or a simple parts and labor breakdown, even after a request? After we had the hot water back (thanks to the 2d plumber whom of course was another fee) we reached out to Anne The Plumber to follow up, explain that it had been resolved and suggest a refund of some kind. All we got was crickets. No reply. Would NOT recommend. One star bc Yelp requires at least one. read more

Very satisfied with Anne's plumbers. They were courteous and efficient and did a great job. They showed up on time and were well prepared. They took steps to make sure they had the right materials to do the job. Overall a very good experience, will use them again if need be. read more

I liked hiring a "woman-owned business" however they billed us significantly higher than the estimate without discussing it with us before hand. Second, they did not complete the work they were hired to do. Third, before finishing the work (Phase 2), we received an email that they would no longer come to our area due to high gas prices. I was forced to hire another plumber who had to fix the work of "Anne the Plumber" in order to complete the job accurately. I am not normally a complainer but this was unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

The crew minorly broke something while working on a bigger job--which is totally understandable--but Anne has repeatedly refused to fix it, and the company is now stating that the reason they won't fix it is because we stated our displeasure with the fact that it wasn't fixed. They even made false accusations on the phone. Go with a company that will stand behind their work, not one that refuses to fix things they broke. And as you can see from the comments below, they are continuing to say things that are not true. They were notified at the time they broke the item and again more recently when already at our house for another small job--when asked more recently they refused to fix it because "they did not have time." read more

Anne was able to come by the next day after I called to remove some baseboard heating and pipes from my downstairs bathroom. She completed the job in around an hour and tested my furnace to make sure everything was working as expected still. Anne did a great job and was very professional and explained everything she was going to do before doing it. I'm happy with her work and I would hire her again for another job. read more

I do not write many reviews but I am trying to help another person from going thru the same situation. I needed a shower valve replaced and called Anne the plumber and asked for some ballpark estimate after giving her all the details I even has access to the pipes in the wall and she said no we have to go there first and it would cost me 175.00 to walk thru the door but that would be applied to the cost so I agreed knowing how much the parts cost and i know it should be a few hours of labor. Well less then 5 minutes after coming the plumber looks at a predetermined set price they would not disclose over the phone of almost 1800.00 when I said that was way too much he said yeh we get that alot and I need my 175.00. well I paid it evem though this was terrible business practice... called another licensed plumber and 550.00 job is getting done. The parts are 150.00 plus 2 hours of labor. They wont tell you over the phone what there labor rate is but if you do the math it must be around 700/ hour ... just be aware. read more

Anne the Plumber comes highly recommended, but every time I have tried to use them, their customer service is terrible. I called to schedule a fix for a leaking shower drain. Before I could finish explaining what the issue was, the person on the phone said "It's probably your shower curtain." Lesson #1- do no treat the potential customer as though they are stupid. I explained that it's a sliding shower door with shower pan and a fully sealed tile floor with epoxy grout. I also explained that I had already traced the source of the leak to the drain (from the basement underneath where it was leaking. I work full-time about an hour away from my house, so I explained that the best time for me would be a Friday afternoon due to Summer hours. The next available appt. on a Friday afternoon was two weeks out. I stated "Yes, let's go ahead and book that date. If I am able to take a day off earlier than that, I will call and let you know." The person handling the phone wrote that as "Will call back right away to confirm." Therefore, they didn't firm-up the appointment and booked someone else instead. Lesson #2- If you are waiting on someone who really needs a service to confirm, and there is a chance of a misunderstanding- maybe call them back and check prior to booking someone else? I called this morning, the date of what I had understood to be the appt. The same person on the phone was adamant that they were right and I was wrong. Lesson #3- Remember that Silly Saying "The Customer is Always Right" - Her tone was that of a whiny, entitled child and she kept making defensive excuses. I was frustrated, but eventually said "OK, let's move on, it was a misunderstanding"- and explained that I still had this leaking shower, could I please get service. She tried to book me out another couple of weeks, trying to schedule me for 11 am on a Friday when I had already explained that I need to work in the mornings. Eventually I gave up and went with another company. I have worked in sales and customer service- even if your customer makes a mistake, taking defensive stance against them is not a good approach. She could have said "OH- I am so sorry, it looks like we had a misunderstanding" - but, instead, she kept saying "No, you were going to check with your manager and call me right back." So- from what I hear, they do great work- but I will never know due to this inept person. read more

We have had mixed experience with Anne the Plumber. She and her associate did work on our furnace and water lines some time ago. Very knowledgable and effective, although very pricey. She came another time to estimate the work. In the middle of the visit she indicated a considerable charge for the visit, which would be applied to the work. This was a big change from the previous work. I started to question the practice and she said, "Im leaving, will not work with you again, good by." They had great online reviews and we were all scheduled to begin. Anne herself shows up to review the job and now tells us that she's not able to get to this for three of four weeks. The agreement was she was to begin the next day with the electricians following her next week. They want the work, may be good but are not professionals. Anne certainly knows her way around steam heat systems. We hired her to fix a problem, unfortunately caused by a previous plumber. She not only fixed it, but she explained exactly how she did so, and she offered great advice on solving problems that have bedeviled other plumbers for years. Anne was one of the plumbing businesses I called to get an estimate on a waste stack replacement in my basement, along with some copper piping that was turning pretty green (in the same location in the basement). I saw pictures on her website of basements that were identical to mine and the work looked good. Her business is in my city - I really wanted to stay local, and she's been featured in a lot of news programs, articles, etc, as a class act. My experience with Anne turned out very different and cannot recommend her. I'm really disappointed, to be honest. She was an hour late for the initial visit (with no notice), couldn't get an estimate to me for an entire week, and then decided they didn't want to do the job after all (they decided to take on a bigger job). But she COULD have referred me to another plumber at that point. My work was not an emergency, it could have waited a while before being worked on. That lost my business forever. - She was supposed to come on a Monday at 9am to take a look at what was going on in order to provide an estimate. - A few days before, her office changed the appointment to Tuesday at 9am. OK... no problem. I had a meeting with my own customer at 10am. - On Monday, the office called to CONFIRM Tuesday at 9am. - Tuesday, 9am............ 9:30.......... waiting....... I finally called the office at 9:45. To be clear - I get it, things happen, a job runs over, your car breaks down, you're on the phone with another customer for 30 minutes, you aren't feeling well, whatever. Anne or her office person (I believe Emily is her name) SHOULD have called to tell me she was going to be late. When I called them, I was told Anne is leaving in a few minutes. I had to then call MY customer and asked them to maybe move the meeting to another time. They were very accommodating. - She showed up at 10am. - no customary apology for being an hour late. My time and business isn't as important as hers, apparently. - I have to give her credit for going through and checking out everything along the problem wall. - Tells me it will take a week to get me an estimate. Other plumbers got them to me with 24 hours. - Couple days later, Emily called to say she accepted a bigger job, they won't be working on my house. Any other business owner I know what have referred me to someone else. - No big loss. The plumber I did use (Martel) did an awesome job, was on time, on budget, quality work, very reasonable price, I'd recommend them all day long. read more

I've worked with multiple plumbers over the past few years...every single one has left me feeling over charged for a job that was poor quality or incomplete. I don't feel that way about Anne. Anne and her team are fantastic. Our 75 year old cast iron drain stacks were leaking and needed to be replaced before we put our house on the market. One was behind our oil tank and very difficult to get to. They thought outside the box, pulled that one out, capped it off and diverted to the other stack. So smart. Great work! read more

Anne has done a lot of work in our home. She services our boiler every fall, installed a new hot water tank, fixed a toilet, and did work in our shower. She explains everything she is doing and her prices are very fair. We recommend Anne to everyone we know who has plumbing needs. read more

Do not hire. They charged me twice what they quoted and when I tried to call all I got was voicemail which no one returned. I'm on a fixed income- that money will have to come out of food or medicine. The toilet started leaking again the next week anyway! FRAUD! read more

Anne and her apprentice showed up in masks, were very clean and quick to diagnose and repair the issues with my boiler as I was without heat and had a leak in my ceiling from an over pressured steam heat system. She gave me great advice on maintaining my boiler for the future and even on my hot water tank-which they weren't even there to service, just some added tips because I asked! I used to really like Anne the Plumber. I like supporting woman owned businesses, but its been hard to use them lately because the prices are always a lot higher than everyone else's. She did multiple small and large jobs for me in the past. However, despite the high fees, she now refuses to fix incorrect installations. She also charged $85 extra to talk on the phone for a few minutes to the company that makes my shower to explain which part was needed to them. Isn't figuring out which part you need part of the job? I have never had someone charge me extra for figuring out what part I need. Then she put the shower handle on sideways and its hard to shut the shower off now, but she won't come back to realign it. So I paid her almost $500 for 90 minutes of work (which on my wages with a graduate degree, cost me 14 HOURS of time to make! Hey, the world's not fair, fine. But at least be wiling to TRY to fix the install error!), and the shower can't be shut off properly. She claims its old and can't be fixed, but being old doesn't explain why the shower handle has to go on now 90 degrees off center when it was on center when she arrived. Sad that she can't take 5 minutes to put it on right when she is next in the neighborhood. Secretary was smug and disrespectful about it all and blamed me for "insisting" that Anne try to fix my shower. Say what?! :( read more
