Long before the Turnpike became a way for the state to extract money from travelers to pay for continuous "improvements" and to fund other non-Turnpike related agencies and items, it was a super highway allowing fast, safe travel across the commonwealth. The Midway plazas were unique because they were across from one another and there's a tunnel that runs under the road that joins them; this tunnel has long been closed to the public. Anyway, if you have time, it's fun to look at the pictures that adorn this plaza and also to check out the items in the gigantic display case that celebrate the creation and history of this road.

Yes, this place is more than just a grocery store. It is actually more like a gas station with an extended convenience store. With that the prices aren't always the cheapest, but when you are in dire need of something at the last minute, you really don't care about prices. Speaking of prices, this is usually the cheapest spot along the road for gas prices. There are few and far places along this stretch of road, but it is consistently the cheapest. When I said this was the go to place in the community, I wasn't kidding. When I went to complete my purchase I had to wait for the local gab-fest to end in order to pay. I'm not knocking them for that, but we all know how it is at a place like this. You're an outsider.

I had a scary issue on a windy incline of the PA turnpike in the rain. Needless to say, when the tow truck finally came, I was a bit of a mess. They took me to Blough's who immediately showered love upon my pooch and let him run around and enjoy the reception area. There's lots of fun memorabilia on the walls and old gas pumps to check out (and sniff!). Where they really won me over was the kindness of everyone who worked there. I waited several hours while they attempted to replicate the problem on my camper van over and over - but of course, it was running just fine now! They finally felt comfortable letting me on my merry away and didn't charge me a dime for their time or diagnostics. I was happy to have broken down near such a friendly place.

We had two young, antsy boys with us. They stayed HOURS past closing to help us secure the vehicle and were remarkably patient with us and our boys. Absolutely amazing. I will send everyone I know to see Jason for their next vehicle!

After an hour and a half, I had new front brakes at a very reasonable price. If you're looking for a clean luxurious experience, this is not the garage for you. The appointment was made almost 1 week in advance. I showed up on the day of the appointment at 7:15 A.M. (they open at 6:30 A.M.). After I reviewed what was to be done for my vehicle, I was told that they would give me a call. I waited (wasted!), all day waiting for that call! They close at 5 P.M. I gave them until 5:10 P.M. and called back. When I called back, I got a recorded message that they were closed!!! I drove there, tried the locked door, saw someone was still inside and I knocked. The guy who said he would call answered the door. At first he did not seem to recognize me. Then he started to apologize with the feeble excuse of how busy they were that day. (How is that my problem?) He said that the tires did not come in. Was the vehicle inspected I asked? No, nothing was done to it and it was parked out on the street! He offered me a "loaner." What, will you be loaning me my own, perfectly working vehicle? I drove my vehicle home and I will never return. What type of way is that to treat a customer and to run a business? He deservers ZERO stars!

RG's Food Shop is a Gulf Oil Gas Station and convenience store…read more We stopped in here to gas up the rental car on our way back to Virginia. Paid at the pump and refueled. It's located right before you get on the PA Turnpike, so it's very convenient. You can also pick up a lot of convenience store goods, and there are restrooms here. RG's Food Shop/Gulf Oil is physically connected to the McDonald's here. You can walk back and forth between the two without going outside.
