I had a lemon blueberry scone with the coffee which was outstanding. Delightfully light in texture, not heavy or greasy, and not overly sweet. Lemony of course and the blueberries were plentiful, tangy, and small. I'd guess they were wild Maine blueberries (frozen of course this being April) but I'm not sure. A maple glaze completed this masterpiece. They didn't forget the chocolate lovers. A very dark enormous brownie called to me but reluctantly I passed. Maybe tomorrow. It annoys me when bakeries don't have any chocolate offerings. From the hand pie selection I chose a Carrot, Leek, and Goat Cheese for later. Also outstanding. The crust was flaky, not dry, subtly buttery, and just the right thickness for the filling which was generous. (It made it all the way to the edges, which many hand pies do not.) Decorated with thyme leaves. The filling was sweet, which I thought was just from the caramelized leeks but I read on the wrapper that sugar is also an ingredient. Just the right amount. The carrots were "rainbow", in several colors, and very pretty. Pretty expensive at $8 but for the size and quality I'm glad I got it. The place is very small but looks like a comfortable place to hang out. A few small tables, walls decorated with painted flowers and vines. The counter people were nice and thanked me for coming in.
