A hometown treat…read more My first-ever understanding of a mom-n-pop, Ed and Barb's has sustained its spot as a community staple for decades. As a kid it was always a treat to go through that drive through. Back in the day, Ed would rarely crack a smile in the drive-thru hahaha. If you know, you know. By the time you tasted the donuts you weren't thinking about that anymore! I saw a review commenting on the building's aesthetic being outdated. As a young person, I actually appreciate the aesthetic. It sort of carries the origin through time to tell a story about this place. I'm itching to get my hands on some now that I'm back in town :p

It was a little strong but I think it was the blackberry. Service was friendly and prompt. Product was good, for a decent price. I just wish they had a gluten free donut option!!! We would have tried them! A few other shops in the area have GF options but this one unfortunately does not. The coffee was good though and the ambiance of the place is SO quaint!!!

I have…read moreloved Parlor Doughnuts very much so when I had to schedule an appointment instead of going downtown, I decided to go to Fleming Island because I could stop a Parlor Doughnuts. But it was an overall disappointment. I placed my order online and parked as I was parking. I saw two people walk in and by the time I got out of my car and inside one was with the lady at the espresso machine, and the other was waiting in line by the donuts since I had a pick up order, I went over there to try to pick it up, but the lady fiddling with the machine was the only one visible at the time and she was having a time with that machine. I think by the time the lady waiting got her drink. It was probably a good 10 minutes. Meanwhile, because I have physical issues I sat down to wait. In that time about six other people had come in. Now, suddenly another employee appears, and he pulls out a box for a pick up order and started walking into me and then when I said that's not me he then found one of the other people in line who it was for and she indicated she also wanted to go ahead and get a drink so he started helping her with that despite her being one of the last people to walk in the store. Meanwhile, the other lady finally finished the coffee for the first lady and began making this coffee for the second lady from the pick up order. Meanwhile, the gentleman goes over and skips me who was there first and just getting a pick up order that was already placed and start helping another lady in line when he finishes with her he goes to help another gentleman. Meanwhile, I'm sitting there and I'm just trying to get my order picked up that I had already placed long before any of these people appeared in store. So when I finally got my order, it was a good 20 minute wait in store. As for the food itself, I can't say I felt it was the normal expectations I had of Parlor Doughnuts. I ordered a turtle doughnut, a churro doughnut, and a cookies and cream doughnut for my family. Looks wise, they were OK except for mine. Mine was the turtle donut and sorely lacking on the nuts as you can see in the picture. The other ones looked appealing visually however it stopped right there. Whereas I'm normally accustomed to a crispy outside and a flaky interior. This doughnut had a brown exterior, but it wasn't very crispy and the interior was gummy. Very disappointing. So as far as the atmosphere on that regards, the restaurant is very charming. It's well located for its neighborhood. It's generally clean looking however the floors were very sticky.

So I've been told get here early or don't even bother and that's exactly what we did and I must say these are definitely some of the best donuts in the state as they are hot fresh and just classic but definitely with their own unique style. So the blueberry cake donut was definitely my favorite as it was super flavorful with blueberry donut goodness as well as a yummy icing on top to set the vibe to the donut goodness one could totally get again and again! The jelly donut was awesome like it's up there with one of the best ones I've ever had as the flavors were totally there and just a perfect doughnut from start to finish. So we are suckers for apple fritters and we totally had to get one to try and I must say while it was good it wasn't my favorite as these I'm very picky with as I love them flat and really crispy and not everyone does them this way so I can't knock them for their own style and besides it was definitely good for what it was just not the go to one for me! You order from the front door window and also point to the ones you want and how many. I got a box of a dozen and it was less than $20, a variety of donuts, apple fritters, and glazed bow ties. Along with a tasty large cup of coffee for around $3. All I'll say is "WOW"!!!! The donuts are delicious, soft, moist, fluffy, and so fresh tasting. No wonder they sell out fast, as most days they are open 5 or 6am until noon, and many times they close early once they sell out. Closed on Monday and Tuesday. You can see the kitchen in full view with all it's equipment and racks through the windows. Oh, and the service is terrific. The girl working this overnight to morning shift making the donuts was very kind and nice to chat with. Even though she had to be tired she was cheerful with a smile as we discussed the business and answered my questions about the business and area.
