They can never get an order right and the drive thru takes for ever. Was better when they were under a different management.

The add-ins don't overpower the coffee taste. The pricing is pretty on par with similar shops. I also can't leave without an açaí smoothie bowl. They're perfect every time! The staff are always friendly and helpful. The only slightly negative thing I can note is sometimes the wait has been a bit long, but it's always well worth it. This would be a great place to study or do remote work, as the interior has ample seating space. They always have relaxing music playing as well! I really can't say enough good things about this place. If you think Starbucks has good coffee, you really need to visit Awaken so they can open your eyes!

Dylan, the man who took my order, was super friendly and welcoming. Despite them being busy, he seemed to make a meaningful connection with each customer that came through. When I asked him questions he was more than happy to answer them. Rather than making me feel like an annoyance or "just another customer", he made me feel welcome. The cafe itself is busy, but not in an overwhelming way. If anything it is kind of exciting. There is no underlying current of stress and hurry in the air. Everything from the building to the upbeat music feels alive. I fell in love with the place before I even received my latte. And once I did get my latte? Mannn, I've got two words for you. Pistachio and tiramisu. Freaking genius. Truly the best latte I've had all year (and I drink a lot of lattes). Unlike many iced espresso drinks the flavor of the espresso was strong and flavorful. It was good, very good. And when the flavor of the espresso combines with the pistachio syrup, white chocolate, and cocoa powder? Forget about it. You're in a whole new world. Awaken cafe isn't just a coffeehouse, it's an experience.

Very disappointing experience. I came here on a date, and we sat at a table right in the center of…read morethe dining room for about 30 minutes without being acknowledged or waited on at all. What made it even more frustrating was that they weren't particularly busy at the time. We watched people who came in after us get waited on while we continued sitting there. I tried three separate times to get one of the younger waitresses' attention, but not a single person acknowledged us or even looked our direction. Eventually, after half an hour of being completely ignored, we got up and left. As we were walking out, the owner actually thanked us for coming in, apparently without realizing that we had just spent 30 minutes sitting in his dining room without receiving any service whatsoever. A family member later asked about what happened because I had told him I wouldn't be going back. The owner and the older waitress reviewed the footage and confirmed that we had, in fact, been sitting there for approximately 30 minutes without being served. The owner's explanation was that he thought we had already been waited on and had already eaten. That explanation honestly makes very little sense to me considering there was never any food, drinks, dishes, or anything else brought to our table. The older waitress initially apologized for what happened, but then proceeded to have what my family member described as a nasty attitude toward him for the remainder of his visit, and that attitude apparently continued when he returned another time. As far as the food itself, from my previous experiences here, I've found the offerings repetitive. It seems like much of the same food over and over without much variety or anything really changing. I understand restaurants make mistakes and tables occasionally get overlooked. But they weren't slammed, we were sitting in the middle of the dining room, I repeatedly tried to get someone's attention, customers who arrived after us were being served, and we were still ignored for 30 minutes. The fact that they later reviewed the footage and confirmed how long we had been sitting there only makes the experience more unbelievable to me. One star. I won't be returning.

The decor really makes this spot, with lots of fun themed signs throughout the restaurant. This definitely gives it a different and more fun vibe than the average coffee house and the upstairs loft is cozy to hangout in as well. The coffee flavors and preparation are quite good here -- flavorful, and made with high quality ingredients. I also enjoyed the mini scones, with a nice texture that was soft but a little more firm than a muffin. Overall, definitely worth a visit if you're in Pontiac. Great vibe and delicious food.

The Knight and The Bible…read more On a drive up to Chicago to catch a vacation flight, we stopped at The Cup and The Scone to get us caffeinated for the rest of the drive. We got there about 30 minutes before close and the barista was super nice as we ordered our drinks. Emily got a caramel latte and I got the.. you guessed it... an iced americano. We also grabbed a blueberry-lemon, cranberry-orange, and birthday cake scone. While we stood there as the barista was making our drinks, we chatted her up a bit and we were able to get a few free stickers from her. She said they don't use them all too much and was happy to give us two each. Once we got our drinks, we took off to the upper part of the coffeehouse and promised we wouldn't be too long since they were closing soon. Before we headed upstairs, I took some photos with the suit of armor that is by the counter. When we got upstairs, I was surprised to see another suit of armor, so I took a photo with that one, too. The Cup and The Scone specializes in a lot of gluten-free products and a small bit of religion. I don't know if their entire menu is gluten-free but as someone who's mom is gluten sensitive (and I will probably be at some point), the care about GI issues is great. As for the religious stuff, if you don't see the occasion bible strewn about the place, you'd honestly never know. But, their website seems to support helping people and I think that also is super great as this world is getting rough and scary. Any who, Emily and I really enjoyed our drinks. The americano hit all the right notes and Emily was delighted with her latte. We were split on the scones. I really liked the birthday cake while she really liked the cranberry-orange while we both thought the blueberry-lemon was just alright. We held true to our promise and dipped out before 2pm and hit the road. If I find myself in Pontiac for some reason in the future, The Cup and The Scone will definitely be my spot to get some americanos.
