We have been looking for a new farm stand offering fresh fruit and vegetables (FFV) since our old…read moreBoley Farm stand owners retired at the end of last season. Boley Farm on 151st Street in Orland Park is now run by a new person who bought out the old operators, but he just seems to be getting up to speed and the selection wasn't as broad ... hence the search for a new stand ... and I think we found it in Just Picked. We stopped in at Just Picked on 171st Street in Tinley Park on a weekday and they had a very nice selection. We have driven by this place dozens of times over the years but never stopped in ... glad we did this time. While the selection looks relatively small as you drive by, once you stop in and look around you'll be more impressed with the variety and quality. This is an everyday kind of farm stand during the Summer and Fall, and the people running it were very nice. The owner (Tom) grows much of what is sold on his farm just outside Kankakee ... thus you get fresh, local-grown FFV everyday where the stock is refreshed daily. All the FFV ... and oftentimes flowers ... are presented outside under an awning ... the barn is for his work equipment and other stock. If you are in the market for a farm stand, you have to give this place a try.

Tom and his family have treated all their customers wonderfully for decades…read more Sells quality products, from produce to flowers, to pumpkins, always relevant to the season. A great family run business. Congratulations to Tom, Diane and Kelly

Plants, produce, etc. are not my thing. Not at all. I have no idea what I am looking at, what it…read moredoes, how it does it, when it does it. I went to another place nearby and was resolved to buy plastic plants. I wish I remembered the name of the two people who helped me. In fact, I will go back soon to make a point of getting their names so I can post them. Two people with more patience than I have ever seen in my life. When I walked in the place was jammed so my first thought was come back later. As I turned to leave a guy says hey, what are you looking for. I explained I wanted to do some indoor hot peppers, some tomato plants, etc. and I don't have a back yard just a deck. In five minutes I was set and ready. Second visit last week was to get some potting soil, and to scope out whether I can grow tomatillos and maybe some tomatoes indoor. Again, packed, and again, helped within a minute or two. As I was leaving I saw the produce and it looked really fresh. I took home a half dozen ears of corn, two dozen tomatoes, hot banana peppers, and a couple of jalapenos. As I was picking stuff out there was an employee stocking. She asked what the tomatoes were for. I explained I was making a marinara. She said the tomatoes I had were ok, but then showed me to the plum tomatoes, showed me how to pick the best sauce tomatoes, and then taught me a trick to peel the skin. I thanked her, and as I was checking out she brought up a beautiful sweet onion and a bulb of garlic and asked if I forgot these. I did. The cashier explained a genius way to make the garlic less pungent and then I was on my way. Oh, and the price was surreal low. When I got home I tried the corn. Amazing. If nothing else stock up on corn here. The onion was amazing. Almost better than vidalia grown onions in terms of sweetness and taste. I couldnt believe how little my produce cost so on the way home I stopped at a supermarket. I bought corn, tomatoes, onions, green sweet peppers, hot banana peppers, and garlic, all picked that day, for one third the price at a supermarket. Other businesses could learn from this store. These are good people. People who take the time to teach their customers, help their customers, and make sure their customers come back. all the while selling good produce and plants at low prices.

I really did love the garden center. They had a decent selection and were convenient. I will…read morenever visit them again because they moved to Indiana. It saddens me.
