Situated in the former Steak & Shake building, this coffeehouse is a Company Operated Store which went through an extensive renovation, creating an open-space, contemporary architectural design, surrounded by large windows, and furnished with appropriate contemporary furniture. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and its products. Besides its very well known coffees and refreshing drinks, it carries a number of bakery items, and delicious sandwiches, as well as coffee grain packages and a variety of coffee mugs, tumblers and other gifts for sale. The store features free WiFi, indoor and outdoor seating, a drive-thru, and very convenient hours of operation from 4:30AM to 9:30PM on weekdays. When I arrived a customer was seated at one of the tables with his computer, having a coffee and taking advantage of the free WiFi on his laptop. Baristas were preparing orders for drive-thru customers, and a lady customer came in to pickup an order she had placed from her Starbucks app on her cellphone. The place was very well cleaned with the furniture very well grouped and distributed among different groupings. However, I noticed that some of the chairs left pulled out and not put back to its place either by the customer or by one of the Baristas. I was greeted by a friendly and hospitable young gentleman Barista and taken my order. I ordered a Grande Iced Caffè Mocha and a Chocolate Chip Cookie. And then paid by scanning my app. The Barista immediately noticed my Reserve Status and high number of Stars, and asked me if I wanted to use any of my stars to pay with today. I answered in the negative and paid with my loaded Starbucks Gift Card. I received friendly and efficient service from my Barista there. And both my coffee and chocolate chip cookie tasted fabulous. I was very impressed with this coffeehouse and give it the highest of my recommendations. Besides having appropriate size tables for small and large groups to meet, it also has some relaxed settings for a more relaxed environment in which to enjoy quality time with family or friends.

My POV: This is a…read morebunch of drama that I'm bringing to the publics attention, so y'all can become aware of the behaviors permitted by this company. While working at a separate location, in Vinton, VA, I experienced sexual harassment and misconduct from a coworker, Jahmar Brown. I reported this to our Store manager, Hailee Bumgarner, who happened to be the sister-in-law of Jahmar. While reporting I asked if I could have the number of HR/Corporate (we are franchised), so I could separately report the incidents to them. Hailee informed me she would provide me with their number/information the following day. After said day, 12/09/2025, she never responded to any of my messages. She informed all my coworkers that I'd "quit, and any attempt I made to go to the store in-person, I was informed that she was no longer employeed with the Company ( not true). In February, I was hired on at this new location by the general manager, Makayla. Upon starting my first day, a the training manager, Cjay, confirmed that I was still in the system as actively hired from the previous store, and that my pay rate was a different amount than advertised. I informed him of the issues, He claimed he'd have the information transferred over. The next day, I was informed by my new Store manager, Eddie, that the old store manager, Hailee, called and claimed that I was previously "Terminated for Theft". I was informed that I'd be sent home, but I'd receive my pay for the time I'd work. I got the information for our franchise owners, Coastal Franchising LLC, and contacted HR through them. Upon contacting HR, representative Matthew Smith informed me they had no record of Termination, but they would be contacting Hailee Bumgarner for proof of said records. In the meantime I reported the harassment and discrimination I'd experienced at the store. HR claimed I was only rehired due to the MIT not being aware. However, I was not hired by the MIT, I was hired by his manager, the general manager. Additionally, I was still in the system as Hired and Actively Working until 02/12/2026, the day my former manager called. All of which I informed him of. On 02/13/2026, I received a text from a number, confirmed to be Hailee Bumgarner's, stating, "Stupid Hoe imagine being fired before you even start". I reported this to HR as retaliation. In the meantime, HR informed me that after more than a week of waiting, Hailee still would not provide proof of the alleged termination. At this point, 2 pay periods had passed, and I did not receive any pay. I informed HR I'd be reporting this to the appropriate entities, and they ceased communication. I will also be taking out a personal defamation suit against Hailee, since they company confirmed there is no record of my termination, and Hailee brought it upon herself to contact multiple employers to have me terminated based on false information. Yet this place radiated old-fashioned charm and warm hospitality. They mainly sell hand-dipped Hershey's ice cream and classic Nathan's hot dogs. And it seems they do Birthday Parties and Sports Banquets because they had a sign on one of the walls to this effect, as well as Sports League pictures. I went with a friend of mine after visiting the Roanoke Roanoke Antique Mall, which is the largest Antique Store in the area. Two young ladies employees treated us with a smile and took our order behind the counter. They graciously allowed me to try out two flavors that I was undecided on, with tiny Spoons. My friend had a scoop of Bourbon Truffle ice cream in a waffle cone and I had a scoop of Peanut Butter Twist ice cream also in a waffle cone. The waffle cones, although not made in-house, were nice and crispy, and the ice cream was creamy and very tasty. This place clearly serves an important role in this community and brings lots of joy to all those who visit it. Restocking also seems to be a persistent problem; the items we've come to rely on from Aldi are consistently missing like our sourdough loafs, Keifer, and Coconut Water. We know this isn't typical of Aldi as a company; we've visited dozens of locations across two states and never had this experience elsewhere. This store clearly needs new management, and we hope corporate takes notice, because we don't believe they'd want this representing their brand. We're loyal Aldi shoppers, but until this location improves, we'll be buying our groceries elsewhere in Roanoke.
