I've tried many kinds of donuts before, but there is none compared to a freshly made Krispy Kreme donut. Who would ever guess that they were first introduced in July of 1937 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Their popularity for years has been not only for their taste and variety but also for their store experience. Their visionary concept of the "Doughnut Theater," which transformed the act of purchasing doughnuts into a captivating spectacle. Their philosophy has been to make the most awesome Donuts on the planet every single day. Its slogan, "Be Happy, Be Hungry," reflects the company's commitment to provide delightful treats that evoke happiness and satisfy cravings. They introduced the Original Glazed Doughnut and the ionic neon sign that proclaimed "Hot Doughnuts Now." This store is a perfect example of the Krispy Kreme brand. When I arrive at this store and look through their window, I'm captivated by watching the donuts being made. Yet as I enter the place, its cleanliness is impeccable, and the Donuts are neatly arranged inside their display cases. The employees always greet me with a smile and a desire to be helpful and caring in serving my order. Today, I went in to pick up a free box of 3 donuts offered through their app for being my birthday, and no matter how many donuts I am purchasing, they always treat me with the same care. The lady who served me got the box and carefully selected the 3 Donuts and placed them in the box. I scanned my app with the offer and was ready to go. As I was leaving, I couldn't help but look at all the amazing variety of donuts being exhibited inside the glass display, and look forward to my next visit. I highly recommend this place to all of you who, like me, enjoy the taste of an amazing donut served by wonderful employees with excellent customer service.

Wow! A haiku about my Krispy Kreme experience: Oh to be Krispy. Hot, fresh, glorious doughnuts. Melting in my mouth.

Krispy Kreme - Roanoke Virginia. Trash.

I have grown up loving Krispy Kreme doughnuts and this place is a massive disappointment. The two (2) donuts I just paid over $4.50 for we're at least 2 to 3 days old. The icing on the inside and the outside had already started separating and breaking down. The pastry was old and stale. When I approached the sales associate about the condition of the donuts he was adamant they were prepared just this morning. I threw them in the trash. Terrible.

4 glazed, 2 snowmen. Snowman on left looks EVIL.

When this new store opened in Roanoke, after the one on Melrose had to close due to fire, Roanokers lost their ever-loving minds. It's a doughnut. They are not laced with gold or served by a shirtless George Clooney. But they are good doughnuts. When they opened, they had freaking police directing traffic there because it was such a mess. But I went around 1 on a Tuesday, no problem. Drove right up. The 6 doughnuts I got (4 glazed, 2 snowmen) were a little over $6.00. For an extra $1.50-ish I could have gotten a whole dozen, but that would mean I'd have to eat a whole dozen, and nope.

As you enter the Coffee House doors, you begin to see the above take form. There are different seating areas with comfortable furniture. There is an area where paintings from locals of the community decorate the walls and are for sale. Another area with arts and crafts for sale as well. Free WiFi so customers can drop by and do some work as they drink a cup of coffee. While I was there, a customer did just that. The owner gave me a warm and friendly welcome and explained all the food items they had for breakfast and lunch. They have freshly baked New York Bagels shippedfrom New York daily. To drink I ordered a medium Caffè Mocha. To eat I ordered a Breakfast Sandwich with a Cloverdale Plain Bagel, with Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. And finish with something sweet, a Cherry Danish. The Mocha was amazingly good The Bagel was very large and fresh; crunchy on the outside and soft and moist ingredients the inside with a nice size portion of Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. I spent some time there and was able to meet one of the employees who happened to arrive during this time. I also met a nice older couple who enjoy eating at different restaurants and I recommended them Crooked Shoreline Steak and Seafood from Daleville, which I just finished eating there and few days before, and was the first to review this restaurant for Yelp. They loved the oral recap of my review and promised they would go that same event to dine there. They in turn recommended me Nakhon Thai Cuisine which I will be doing there and reviewing for Yelp next Tuesday. Amazingly, what I wrote about at the beginning of this review did take place during the time I was there. God has blessed this Coffee House in a very special way, and it was providing more than just food and drinks for the body, but also for the soul. I highly recommend this Coffee House to all reading this review and viewing the photographs taken for it. In this day and age that it is hard to find a place like this to enjoy a cup of coffee, meet interesting people to socialize with, and do some productive work. This Coffee Shop has a refreshing concept that everyone in the community should take advantage of and contribute to its success as well as benefit from it.

Unfortunately, a toasted bagel with butter had the butter on the side, and thus by the time I ate my bagel it was cold and didn't butter the way I wanted it to. Situated in the former Steak & Shake building, this coffeehouse is a Company Operated Store which went through an extensive renovation, creating an open-space, contemporary architectural design, surrounded by large windows, and furnished with appropriate contemporary furniture. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and its products. Besides its very well known coffees and refreshing drinks, it carries a number of bakery items, and delicious sandwiches, as well as coffee grain packages and a variety of coffee mugs, tumblers and other gifts for sale. The store features free WiFi, indoor and outdoor seating, a drive-thru, and very convenient hours of operation from 4:30AM to 9:30PM on weekdays. When I arrived a customer was seated at one of the tables with his computer, having a coffee and taking advantage of the free WiFi on his laptop. Baristas were preparing orders for drive-thru customers, and a lady customer came in to pickup an order she had placed from her Starbucks app on her cellphone. The place was very well cleaned with the furniture very well grouped and distributed among different groupings. However, I noticed that some of the chairs left pulled out and not put back to its place either by the customer or by one of the Baristas. I was greeted by a friendly and hospitable young gentleman Barista and taken my order. I ordered a Grande Iced Caffè Mocha and a Chocolate Chip Cookie. And then paid by scanning my app. The Barista immediately noticed my Reserve Status and high number of Stars, and asked me if I wanted to use any of my stars to pay with today. I answered in the negative and paid with my loaded Starbucks Gift Card. I received friendly and efficient service from my Barista there. And both my coffee and chocolate chip cookie tasted fabulous. I was very impressed with this coffeehouse and give it the highest of my recommendations. Besides having appropriate size tables for small and large groups to meet, it also has some relaxed settings for a more relaxed environment in which to enjoy quality time with family or friends.

Its success depends on skilled baristas who are knowledgeable and friendly, a comfortable space with amenities like Wi-Fi, and a menu that offers variety beyond just coffee.  After being awarded the NC Triad Yelp Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea in Salem, Virginia, is a perfect example. I arrived at the City of Salem Farmer's Market parking lot, which is adjacent to the back entrance of Mill Mountain Coffee & Tea. And parked my Lexus there after reading the sign that one could park there for 2 hours free, Mondays through Saturdays 6AM - 6PM. After entering through the back door, I noticed that there was a small private dining room there and a hallway with its wall full of paintings from local artists for sale. The hallway lead to a wooden furniture with display shelves with the Coffee Shop t-shirts, mugs, and bags of coffee grains for sale. The environment was comfortable and welcoming, created through elements like clean spaces, good lighting, and appealing decor of artworks for sale from local artists. Their granite counter and very nice pastries display cases gave the place an elegant look together with its original hardwood floors. I waited in line in front of the ordering counter until it was my turn to order. I was welcomed by friendly and professional staff, who were very knowledgeableabout their products. I young lady who took my order and a young gentleman who served my coffee. I ordered a Breakfast Plate with two fried eggs, over easy, four bacon strips, and a white toast with butter. And to drink a Mocha Coffee. The young gentleman who made my coffee recognized me from when I did a review of their Downtown Roanoke location, and made me feel at home. The cook in the kitchen did an awesome job cooking my eggs over easy, (just the way I like them), and the four strips of bacon, even though they were very skinny and for that reason shrank somewhat. The medium Mocha Coffee was amazing. Someone who I believe was the Caffee Shop manager was very kind and helpful, and brought the plate to my table. After enjoying my food I went back for something sweet and ordered one of their Cinnamon Rolls which were made in-house. It was one of the best cinnamon rolls that I've ever had. I finished drinking my Mocha Coffee while enjoying the cinnamon roll. In conclusion, I had an extraordinary dining experience there, and highly recommend this Coffee Shop for breakfast, lunch, or even for an afternoon snack. Everything about the place was wonderful.
