A carrot cake aficionado in our family who has tasted carrot cakes around the world ranks Lou's tied for number one. Prices aren't cheap, but rent in Hanover isn't cheap either, they take care of their employees, ingredients are of high-quality, and it is the kind of local business I like to support. For a hearty and healthy lunch, a bowl of their homemade chicken soup (available with or without noodles) hits the spot. For a delicious savory breakfast, Doc's omelette (corn beef hash and melted cheese is really good) as is the cowboy bowl. For a sweet breakfast (albeit more than I can handle), the glazed cruller French toast is a delicious menu staple. And their apple cider donuts, muffins and crullers are excellent. (The glazed apple cider donuts are my personal favorite). I included the picture after a few bites to show the banana cream filling. In this picture the full size vanilla wafer can confirm the scale. The banana cream was really good and didn't have the artificial taste that so many have. The chocolate was just enough but I ate the cookie separately to avoid possibly squeezing out the cream.
