We came in for dinner around 7 pm and it was somewhat full, but they still sat us right away. We ordered exclusively from the dim sum menu (though the main menu also looked good). We went with the shrimp hargaw, turnip cakes, shrimp and leeks dumplings, the sweet piggy custard buns and the fish mango pudding. Of the items we got I enjoyed the shrimp and leek dumplings the most, whilst the turnip cake and the jello mango pudding shaped like a fish were my least favorite. But the shrimp and leek dumplings with a bit of chili crisp oil was perfect. And the cute piggy themed custard buns were also a perfect sweet ending. I definitely would be interested in coming back to try items off of the main menu.

The decor has not been updated in a long time but it doesn't look it's age either. It's clean Asian themed decor. Service is efficient, not particularly warm but not bad. I ventured outside my normal choice and I won't be doing that again. My usual go to is the egg rolls, pineapple fried rice and I add shrimp for my drink I ask for pineapple juice and coconut rum. This time I ordered pan fried noodles with seafood and the frozen mango margarita. I was disappointed, the dish lacked the flavor I was expecting and so did the cocktail. My husband had our usual and he was very happy, our friends had the chicken pad Thai and mango mojito and they were also very happy. Next time, I'm going back to my usual order lol.

That's when we found Lion Dance in Staten Island. Honestly, I didn't expect much because this place is on Staten Island. I've lived here my whole life, and to be real, not a lot of food spots here are that good. I usually go to other parts of NYC to eat. But BOY, WAS I WRONG. I got the pork soup dumplings, lotus leaf steamed rice with beef and broccoli, shrimp siu mai, and a mango green tea with medium sugar and mango jelly. Everything was so good! The biggest surprise was the lotus leaf steamed rice, it had so much flavor and went perfectly with the beef. The portion was big too. The soup dumplings were juicy, the siu mai were fresh, and the mango green tea was super refreshing. Service was quick, the staff was friendly, and the place was clean and nicely decorated. Overall, I loved the food, the vibe, and the service. Definitely coming back and if you're from Staten Island, trust me, this spot is worth checking out!

They didn't flip out when I was running late (I'm still so sorry about that). And on top of being ok with us bringing a cake, they happily offered to bring it out with a candle and song, and offered to cut and serve it for us. Five stars already for that alone! Drinks were delicious and the food was such a delight. Crunchy chips were at the table with a delicious sweet dipping sauce to start. I ordered the Polynesian Coconut Chicken which was so good and quite sweet- of course due to the lychee, pineapple and cherries. Also ordered the steamed vegetable dumplings, which were tasty. After dinner, my friends and I then headed to their bar where they happily served us until nearly closing. They never once tried to push us out or point out the time. They made my birthday one to remember and I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. I so wish I lived closer!
