哎， this is another sad one star. I am Chinese and I love Chinese food. But I don't know why endure rude service becomes a part of the deal in this place. Before pandemic we used to dinning in here. And a senior employee was very nice, he would ask customers how was the food etc. but the younger employees here just too moody. When you look the menu for extra few minutes they got mad, if you ask a question they got mad. Waiting time is always unpredictable. They said 20 minutes. Then after 20 minutes, they tell you another 20 minutes, or they ask you what did you ordered ?? My coworker didn't complete taking your order ... Last time I picked up my Togo order, on my way to home, passing foothill express, got a call from the restaurant, that they forgot one order green beans from my order. I said it's ok, I don't want waste time to drive back for that dish. Then the lady said: " well, but we put an spicy beef into your bag by mistake, which is more expensive than green beans. Decent food for a really good price. Ordered four dishes and that was pretty filling for two. The pork dumpling with napa cabbage was good except for the skin, which was too thick. That was strange and threw off the overall texture of the dumpling. The marinated beef pancake roll was also pretty good, but the meat a bit too dry and chewy. The marinated pig ear was interesting as I've never had it made with szechuan pepper, something I'm not a huge fan of. There aren't actual peppers on the dish, so the taste threw me off. The pig ear itself was well done, though. Marinated jellyfish salad was different than the usual dim sum style jellyfish. Discovered this place during covid and have gotten take out from there multiple times. I am no expert but I love dumplings and have tried a lot of them. The shanghai pan fried soup dumplings and XLB soup dumplings are amazing here, as well as the pancake roll. I also like the other non-dumpling offerings from here, the chow mein and fried rice are a hit in our home. We have not tried everything on the menu yet. I have not dined in the place as yet, so can't speak to the atmosphere but for great take out dumplings, highly recommend. read more

I arrived to Dumpling Garden with a couple of friends and we decided to just order a bunch of food and eat it family style. We ordered dumplings, fish filet in hot chili sauce, popcorn chicken, some noodles, vegetables, other random stuff that I can't remember the name of, unfortunately. You can, however, see what we ordered in the pictures attached below. I am missing a few pictures of some dishes because we decided to just dive in instead of taking pictures of the food. For the food, the most memorable dishes to me were the fish in hot chili sauce and the popcorn chicken. The fish in hot chili sauce because I thought it was pretty good and had a bit of a kick. The popcorn chicken because I was wondering why we had ordered popcorn chicken, when we could've got some at a boba shop instead. Oh, and before I forget, the dumplings are pretty good as well. Nothing really significant about them, but they just tasted good. Anyways, the bill came out to be roughly $10, as we got a few discounts from doing a Yelp Check-In and paying with cash (5% discount). Been here a couple times now. Usually not much of a wait mainly because there is a lot of takeout. And a lot might be an understatement. There's a constant stream of people waiting for to go food. That being said. Occasionally food may come out slower, so don't come when you're pressed for time. An hour lunch is what it's going to be depending on what you order. But onto the food. I've had the following so far: Nanjing salted smoked duck - Cold dish that was similar to your stabdard cold meat shanghai dish. Not super salty, and texture of the meat just right. Would order again. Dumplings: Chicken and corn, lamb and napa, pork and chives, fish and chives - Favorite dumpling has been the lamb one. Then probably fish. And then the ones with corn. Good ratio of meat to skin and the insides are juicy. The dumpling skin has the right amount of spring and chew. Love it. I do wish they had a "signature" or their own dumpling sauce as they only have soy sauce, black vingear, and hot sauce (that reminds me of tapatio). You can buy the dumplings frozen as well at the restaurant to cook at home. Dumplings with chili oil - I was expecting there to be sauce (soy sauce, vinegar?) with the chili oil. Sp, it is currently as described on the menu. I also feel like the chili oil doesn't have as much depth in flavor. I actually preferred the dumplings without chili oil. Xiao long bao - I would get it again. The meat is soft, the soup is good. Although, one time it tasted like chicken soup which was odd. In the same visit. The skin is on the thicker side (not the thin DTF kind), but I donxt mind. I would order it again. Beef tendon tofu clay pot - I thought this was a really homey dish done well. The sauce is savory sweet and tendons are cooked til their soft. Sauce was really good with rice. Fish fillet in chili sauce clay pot - Their chili sauce seemed to have more numbing peppercorn in it. The fish was cooked perfectly. It comes with napa cabbage, wood ear mushrooms, and bean sprouts. This sauce is what i wouldve liked with above mentioned dumplings. Bean curd noodles with cilantro - Tossed in same chili oil as dumplings. Was okay. No frills and not too exciting. Wouldnt order again since I prefer it at other restaurants. Chive pancakes - Comes out piping hot. Not oily, crunchy outside. Plenty of chives in there. Also has egg and bean thread noodles. Dried shrimp in the filling lends a lot of the flavor also. Would order again (and have ). And I think that's it so far. It's a homey restaurant which isn't fancy and what people may not travel across the bay for, but it's a conveniently placed restaurant on my commute and near work that I suggest going to if you're also in the area. read more

Dumpling Garden is excelling at what they aim to do; bring handmade to order dim sum at an extremely reasonable price. I know that when I ordered at DG, those dumplings were made to order by folks who have been doing it forever. The menu is massive. I'll have to go here 10x before I can try everything and cannot wait to go back. First visit I ordered the Xiaolong Bao, pork dumpling w/ green bean, and Green Chive Pancake. My rating of this place is as a vegetarian, and I would give it a 3.5 star in terms of food, but giving some extra points because of the price. I think my favorite food here is definitely the Garlic Noodles and the Green Onion Pancakes, paired with the spicy red sauce. The Garlic Noodles has the right amount of garlic flavor, not being overpowering. I do wish it had some more cut of vegetables kind of like Vegetable Chow Mein, but it tastes good anyways. The Green Onion Pancakes are a bit on the greasy side, and a little thick, but it tastes really good with the red sauce. The spicy red sauce here is one of my favorite spicy sauces in all of the Asian places that I have tried. It has a nice kick, and it is pretty spicy, so maybe it's not something that everyone might be able to handle. However, as this place is called the Dumpling Garden, I was a little disappointed with the Veggie Dumplings. I feel like there was not really any flavor in the dumplings, and the vegetables in these dumplings don't have much flavor either. Finally a Asian dumpling place that has some decent vegetarian options. I went here with a few coworkers the other day for lunch. The place is tiny and can get crowded for lunch, so go early. We were a group of 8 and we got a lot of food. There were 2 vegetarians in the group and we got the veggie dimplings, potstickers and the green chive pancakes for vegetarians. The ones that eat meat have way too many options and they got the xlb, fish dumplings, wontons in spicy sauce, crab dumplings. I loved the veggie potstickers and the pancake but the veggie dumplings were OK. The rest of the group loved the food they got. So I would highly recommend this place if you like dumplings They also have a ton of options that are not dumplings. I want to go back to try the non-dumpling menu options. read more

Niu rou mien (Beef tendon noodle soup): broth had good flavor, tendon were tender, but the noodles were overcooked and slightly mushy. I prefer noodles to have a bit of chew. Shanghai chow nin go (Shanghai-style rice cakes): too sweet and had weird ingredients like carrots and the rice cakes were overcooked and a bit too soft. But it's hard to find this dish up here so was happy to have it. Da dau miu (pea sprouts): a bit on the woody side and not enough garlic but ok. Xiao long bao (XLB or pork soup dumplings): slightly overcooked again, wrong flavor profile but at least not sweet. Thicker skins, which I usually actually prefer, but being overcooked they were mushy and less chewy. A small order of only 6. Not spectacular but I'd be willing to give the crab and pork ones a shot. Chung yao bang (green onion pancake): crisp on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, but a little greasy and not enough green onion. Wo tip: one of the better iterations up here but flavor profile still off from my expectations. Reheating potstickers the next day always makes them better so will update after having leftovers for lunch tomorrow. :) Fly flying around, bigger than a gnat, smaller than a housefly. Service is better than usual, though they initially forgot to give us menus, and there is no language barrier problem for English-speakers. Paid over $65 +tip for 6 dishes that would have cost 40 bucks and come with bigger portions, including 10 XLB and 10 potstickers in LA or NY. We were able to pick up our order at 11:30am. The dumplings were so good! I love soup dumplings so was impressed by the ones ordered here. The chicken and spinach dumplings were very good! I had not seen the combo before so I appreciated the restaurant had this combo. The eggplant basil was so very delicious. I was glad it wasn't too oily as I have ordered eggplant basil takeout else where and would be disappointed at the amount of oil. Not an issue here. Next time, I would ask for an extra container of chili. Also, I would check to see if they included chopsticks. They must have forgotten to put them in. I will definitely be back! read more

I have had their dumplings, and shanghai style thick noodles which I would totally continue to re-order for future visits. But my favorite thing here is their marinated beef pancake roll. The food here reminds me a little of Dim Tai Fung without all the hype, grease and long wait for a table. It's not fancy and service isn't lightening fast, but the food is worth it. You can tell the owners have a love for food. The have an extensive menu from specialty dumplings to hand pulled noodle dishes. When you walk in, you can peek through the windows to the kitchen, where they have people rolling and stuffing all the dumpling from scratch. The dumplings here are pretty good! I still like the ones I had in NYC (Supertaste, for anyone who will ever go there) better, but these are still yummy. We ordered green onion pancakes, sheng jiang bao, pork and napa cabbage dumplings, and chili oil wontons. Hubby loved the green onion pancakes - they were fried crispy, had a good amount of green onion flavor, and came in a pretty good portion size for $7. The sheng jiang bao ($9 for 6) was kinda soggy, missing the soup inside, and the base wasn't crispy - I am guessing this is because we ordered for takeout, and maybe they would have tasted better fresh (in pre-covid days). Still tasted good though. The dough was moist enough, and not dry, and complimented the vinegar very well. Chili oil wontons were too oily for us ($10 for 12), and missing some of the sweetness that should be there in the oil, but when dipped in vinegar and store-bought dumpling sauce, I thought they tasted pretty good. My favorite was the dumplings ($10 for 12), prolly why they are known as Dumpling Garden, haha. Though the skin looks thick from the pictures, they actually weren't too thick. Dumpling Garden takes over the former space of Bamboo Garden (that has since gone to XLB Kitchen in Cupertino). This quiet strip mall has definitely seen better days and pretty much otherwise only houses a Hobee's so it's nice to see another Chinese restaurant specializing in similar cuisine. Dumpling Garden is, I believe, part of the Dumpling restaurant family around the Bay Area that includes Dumpling City in Palo Alto and Dumpling Depot in Sunnyvale. I say probably because much of the cuisine (especially Xi An Cold Noodles) and preparation is similar and the websites have some commonalities. But I could be wrong. The space is similar as before with multiple tables for families and a low key ambiance and vibe. Service is both efficient and friendly with the new owners eager to get feedback. If this is indeed related to Dumpling City in Palo Alto, I'm happy to see them get a real kitchen space and restaurant after the table service there was closed. Our order: Spicy Beef Tendons - $8.99. Thin slices of tender and soft Beef Tendons is mixed in a soy chili sauce. It's relatively mild without much heat but tasty. Xi An Cold Noodles - $9.99. I don't know why I always order this but maybe I'm dreaming of the Xian cuisine I've had in Vancouver. The preparation here is much simpler with a mix of julienned cucumbers, peanut and mild chili sauce with cold noodles like Lipiang Cold Noodles. I'm not much a fan of this too mild and unexciting version. Shanghai Steamed Dumplings - $6.99. Pretty average version with decent skin thickness but a bit more paltry in terms of soup content. The meat and juices are also a bit more on the sweet side which is not uncommon at XLB Kitchen too. I want more savory. Green Onion Pancake - $5.99. Another very standard preparation. Tasty, chewy and well priced. Overall, I had a solid meal here. We didn't try the dumplings here but if they're like the other spots, I'd imagine they're solid. The menu variety is nice and while most preparations aren't extraordinary, they're solid, especially for this quiet area. Better Shanghainese options might be the Chef Zhao Bistro/Shanghai Garden, but the Dumpling Family is a-ok too. Dumpling Garden accepts credit cards including Amex. read more
