The grill cook doesn't understand the difference between rare, medium-rare, medium, medium-well. and well, but the food was always enjoyable. The soups were outstanding. I was a saucier and I understand soup. I rarely find a soup that needs no seasoning to my taste, but CC nailed it. The waitstaff are friendly and efficient, even when buried in customers. I give the place as many stars as I can. The ambience is exactly what one wants in an American roadside cafe. Happy customers, friendly employees and they even sell ice. That's important when the temps are in the 120's.

The cook gave me a stale biscuit that just ruined my meal. I couldn't eat it or ask for it to be remade because Josh was too busy to check in on us or refill our drinks. I told him when he came to pick up the plates. He apologized, but he didn't remove it from the check. I paid $10 for a meal I couldn't eat. We got a piece of pie and the taste was kind of weird...like it had been freezer burned and then defrosted. The whole experience was disappointing.

I wondered later if that included added protein. Nevertheless, most people cant eat another big plate of salad; so, it would be helpful to offer a one-time salad bar for less $$. The base (no protein) was $16. Add steak was +$12. Add chicken was +7. So these two salads, with no 'refills,' plus an iced tea for $2.50 was $55 (inc cc surcharge). The machine offered 20, 25, or 30% tip. So our lunch salads and a tea was $70...... The salad bar was clean and had lots of great, and healthy, choices like quinua, artichoke hearts, and assorted olives (please note: the olive have pits). Again, the food was delicious, but we can enjoy a made-to-order healthy salad with similar ingredients at a nearby restaurant for about $20 less (yes, inc steak and chicken). We didnt go for the wine, so drinkers might have a different experience; although I noted a bottle of red zin was $65. When I stopped at Smiths on the way home for a $7 rotisserie chicken for dinner, I noticed the beer and wine bar inside was packed full of people visiting and having a great time.

The guys manning the burger grill are usually super chill and cool, but the guys we saw yesterday were cold and rude. When my young son ordered his burger with ketchup only, he just pointed to the condiments. I don't know what's going on, but change it back quickly. I'm packing sandwiches until you figure this out.
