Wow this place is fantastic!! Donuts are one of my favorite foods in all the world. When traveling, I love looking for the top rated donuts thru Yelp! At Dulce Dough Bakery, every donut I tried was incredible. The cinnamon brioche donut and the maple brioche donuts were our favorites. My husband had the jalapeño, bacon, cheddar cathead biscuit with the addition of eggs, bacon & cheese. He wants to go back tomorrow for another one!! Coffee is served in jadeite mugs. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice. When my friend was commenting on the homemade juice, the guy making it brought us a small glass of juice to sample! I had heard from the locals about this place but this is my first time coming here. Wow! They have a huge assortment of sweet treats and drinks. I had to get my order to go this time but the seating area was lovely. The young lady at the register where you order was patient and helpful. It was very difficult to choose, but I had a king cake , glazed and sugar donut. These are not your typical donuts...very hard to describe, but I love it. So much better than the other common stores. I also got a brioche bun and loved it. It's made from the same dough as the doughnuts and I could eat them every day with no problem. Awesome! I tried to go last week on Monday morning, but they were closed. I'm so glad they still had choices left, as when they sell out of an item you have to wait until next time. These are hand made, not mass produced and it really makes a huge difference! I will return for sure!!!!!! What you know to be a donut is rat puke compared to Dulce Dough! Clean out your deprived depraved mouth and prepare for the best thing you will eat all year! Lemon cream was the favorite for us; it's better than any lemon curd or custard I've ever had. Lightly acidic, exactly the right amount of lemon, felt frothy in taste but resided in pudding cream. I can't explain the Willy Wonka-level magic there but it was divine! The pastry dough was perfectly rendered to be light, tender but not chewy, sugared tastefully (not saccharine), and absolutely zero flavor of lard, grease, or artificial anything, and I couldn't even tell it was fried as donuts are. It was so pristine it didn't offend my system in any way as every other donut I've ever had always does. The pear donut had actual pear flavor baked into the dough that stood out over any other taste. Amazing! Again, no lard nor glazey saccharine tastes, just pear and pastry! I did brush off the excess brown sugar topping which was too much, but wow, this was incredible! The chocolate I thought I was ordering turned out to be chocolate ganache glaze rather than a chocolate pastry. Similar to their "Homer" (Simpson) donut with pink ganache, this chocolate was far from the likes of Kwik-E-Mart and more a fit for fine dining desserts! Beautifully executed, it would've been ironic on a donut had the pastry not been yet again a home run out of the ballpark! Boston Cream--screw eclairs--even the best Euro pastries I've had over there can't beat it! Again, that perfect light pastry, real-azz cocoa chocolate ganache glaze, and pudding cream. We have some impressive gourmet donuts near us in Phila area, but man, Dulce Dough beats them with their fine points! DD does SSI a culinary blessing and we all should be grateful! I ordered the vanilla glazed donut, strawberry filled donut, vanilla cinnamon roll, and a cold brew. All the donuts were so soft, sweet, and delicious! Decided to try this place on a trip to St. Simon's because it has quite the reputation. The line was out the door when we arrived but the line moved fairly quickly. When we heard there was a doughnut shop on the island we knew instantly we had to stop by and try it out! Their French style baked goods are delicious with a flaky dough and the perfect amount of sweetness they make an excellent breakfast treat! The shop is hopping but well worth the wait. The staff were very friendly and the case was filled with a myriad of sweet confections! They also make quiches fresh to order which we will have to try out on our next visit. Adorable donut shop! A tight squeeze when it's busy, but didn't stop us from waiting patiently for these puppies! Ok, my favorite thing I ordered? - their black coffee! Now that isn't a dig against them. Quite the opposite! It was such a lovely surprise to have a fantastic cup of joe with a delicious donut. The brioche donuts, although great, we all agreed they each tasted the same- just with different toppings. Not my favorite chocolate topping as I prefer a hardened chocolate on top of my donut- and this was syrup. The only "different" one we got was the cinnamon sugar brioche. Like a soft churro! Sunday 9am. Got there and the line was curled around inside the place leading to the counter. Probably about 25-40 people ahead of us. We had nowhere to be. Once we got in the door, I went to the bathroom, and by the time I was finished, my wife was five spaces from where she was when I left. It took a really long time, maybe 45-50 minutes to get up to get the donuts, quiche, and the cathead breakfast sandwich. During that wait we saw a number of people open the door, see the line, and walk out to go somewhere else. After all, there are other places to eat on the island. Many more filed into the end of the line. We figured it had to be special to engender this kind of response. And was it ever! The quiche was the best we have ever had. Never did I think I would find a topper for our local Charleston favorite, but it surpassed. The Cathead biscuit was so stuffed with meat we waddled out. We ate on the donuts for the next three days. My son recommended this place, he was right, it is excellent. The staff is friendly, the donuts and biscuits are heavenly. It's the kind of place you go to get your coffee, or tea, and a donut, bun or biscuit and read the newspaper. Try the Catshead biscuits, they have a great variation on the basic Southern staple, but get there early they go fast. The establishment is only open from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM Wednesday thru Sunday. Very disappointed. Went on a Wed and yes it was spring break. By 9:15AM they were out of all donuts with a long line they sent away. I got that last sticky bun and my wife wanted a donut but there were none. Thought they would bring out more but announced they were done. The guy in front of us wanted a bisket but they were out of jam. My coffee was barely warm at best. Very expensive. My sticky bun was good and should be for the price. We were visiting Sea Island, GA, and stayed overnight and then before we left in the morning, we stopped by Dulce Dough to pick up some donuts. This is my second visit there I went there a year ago about this time. I was really hoping they had the Earl Grey Tea filled doughnut again, but alas they did not. But flavors are seasonal. I picked three and then my wife copied me. It's a bit pricey ($26 for 6 doughnuts). However they are much better than the chain donut shops. I believe Guy Fieri even visited them once. I wish a couple of the donuts (buttermilk pie) had more filling. But the other two flavors (strawberry Berliner and the Boston Cream) had a decent amount. Over all, very good doughnuts. Came in on 4th of July had abbreviated hours but still so nice and very helpful. The donuts are mostly brioche and omg. Like so soft and delish. We had the Boston créeme and the vanilla brioche. Cute and quaint little bakery not far from the SSI airport. My sister heard of this place from a local so we knew it had to be good. We got there before 9 and thankfully beat the rush (there was a line out the door after we got there. They a small patio area to eat, couches, chairs, tables and a bar area. It's mostly donuts but they have biscuits too. I ordered a cat head biscuit, sugar brioche and coffee. The cat head biscuit has cheddar, jalapeños and bacon in it. It was good but needed to be warmed up. The sugar brioche was dough-licious! Very thiiiiick, easy to pull apart and just the right amount of sugar. I would certainly recommend the sugar brioche donuts and any variation of them there. The coffee was meh. I did just the drip coffee but just wasn't my thing. We went Friday and were told they do not make anything gluten free, too difficult the young man told us. we had read reviews which said they had gluten free blue berry muffins or donuts, so were terribly disappointed. I was driving from South Carolina further south and recently saw this place on DDD (food network). I'm so happy I decided to order ahead online because I arrived at 11:10am and they were already sold out but still selling drinks. I got the vanilla glazed and Berliner strawberry. The vanilla glazed was my favorite of the two but they were both good and not too sweet. If I had to say a con it was just too much filling in the Berliner for my liking but with a black coffee I'd have that glazed all day everyday and twice on Sundays lol. I wish I lived in Georgia! This place is amazing. The interior is super cute. They have a lot of tables inside and a counter. They have a few tables outside on the porch. The donuts and biscuits are so delicious. The vanilla brioche donut that I ordered literally melted in my mouth. I also ordered a latte which was fine. My daughter ordered a biscuit with sausage and cheese. I plan to get the donut and the biscuit next time! So good! You have to order at the counter and the line is always long primarily because of them making coffees.
