Donuts are usually a sweet I skip , but my friends on the island said I have to try them and I am so glad I did. I got a glazed and a king cake donut. ! What?!?!? I also got another donut and a bun that was not sweet. I have been wanting more of this donuts since I finished them. They are a very different texture and I love it. Not greasy at all! They have other pastries too, but I came after most of them were gone. There are no machines making anything here....and you can taste the difference. They have a small dine in area so most people come in for takeout. The staff was patient with a first timer and helped me choose the best that was still available. The secret here is to watch the hours they are open and when they are, come early for the best selection. Located in a small complex so parking may be a problem, but I will walk miles to get to this place... that is after driving 7 hours to get to the island! Every time I see a donut place I crave these donuts. I have not had any other donut since because there is just no comparison.

At Dulce Dough Bakery, every donut I tried was incredible. The cinnamon brioche donut and the maple brioche donuts were our favorites. My husband had the jalapeño, bacon, cheddar cathead biscuit with the addition of eggs, bacon & cheese. He wants to go back tomorrow for another one!! Coffee is served in jadeite mugs. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice. When my friend was commenting on the homemade juice, the guy making it brought us a small glass of juice to sample! We had some fancy, high end meals while visiting Sea Island. This small donut shop has been the highlight of our visit!

My toddler loved Linda's Sweet Potato cupcakes, which didn't even have icing. That is a good cupcake if a toddler makes note of the flavor by name, demands it each time the cupcakes come out, and refuses other offerings covered in icing! Linda is a caring person, and was very sweet to be personable and talk with us each visit. She gave my son a hug when he was full of energy (which isn't easy in a store), and he smiled and calmed down. The cupcakes are $3 each, and you get one free when you buy a dozen. She has other sweets, but cupcakes did it for me, so I never had a chance to try anything else. I spread her business card all over town, out of affection for this sweet shop! Note that each cupcake is tied inside a plastic baggie. This keeps them very fresh and moist, but can be hard to get off without marring the icing. If ordering ahead you could probably ask for them without bags if you want to keep the icing pristine. I made sure to call ahead to check flavor availability and she always had what we wanted. From being flexible with times we could come by and sample, to learning how to make chocolate peanut butter candies to adorn our groom's cake, Betty was simply the best! We had a traditional almond buttercream frosting with her almond pound cake for the wedding cake and a chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache and fudge buttercream (decorated in the Ohio State O logo) for the groom's cake.
