Stopped in without a reservation for an impromptu date night. They had a one way system set up to comply with new covid rules, sanitation station, and disposable menus. The track and trace was easy as well! Service was good, though a bit slow at times (but we don't fault them because most places are since there are so many more procedures to adhere to these days for health and safety). The crispy duck salad was much more filling than I anticipated, and the crème brûlée portions were about double what they are at most other places. We left stuffed and satisfied! I particularly enjoyed my cocktails (blood orange and passion fruit collins) which were definitely not stingy on the alcohol and went down a little too smoothly. We'll definitely be back! read more

A modern, vibrant bar/restaurant. Lunchtime, Sunday, and it was packed to the rafters. So good to see. One area a restaurant which, on this day, was fully booked and couldn't accept non reservations. However people were guided to the bar area where food, from the same menu, was served. We were only in for a drink but the food coming out the kitchen looked delicious. Checking out the menu prices are a little higher than regular 'pubs' but well worth it for the quality and quantity. I only wish we lived nearer as we certainly would make regular visits. I will keep it in mind next time we are down the area. read more

I haven't eaten here, but will do in time. The menu looks lovely, the pub has a nice atmosphere and it makes a great roadside pub, good for bikers and drivers. It also has quite possibly the best cookies I've ever tasted! read more

Pretty average all round. I ordered the waggyu burger and got a beef burger by mistake which was a simple miscommunication. However on reordering I was then served the same cold burger ten minutes later with cold fries to compliment it. I was shocked that not only they thought I was that stupid to believe it was a new burger or cold British beef tastes anything like waggyu warm or cold but that they had he audacity to simply present the same burger on the same cold plate exactly as it had been served before only with cold sweet potato friend instead of warm normal ones. read more

Very friendly modern gastro pub, this place has become very popular and I'm not the only one to say as every time I drive past its car park is full. The food is very simple but tasty which is a change for our British food. The bar keeps the place full of atmosphere and fast service not to over the top, and very nice decking area to the side of the building. There is also a competition to win a case of Champaign, well worth a vist. read more

Notice this place has been refurbed & is due to reopen for Christmas. Let's hope they took the opportunity to retrain the staff. Had the misfortune to go here a few times and it was always the same. You would be shown to the most inappropriate table for your party eg. Too big, Too small, not enough space for high chairs/ wheelchairs etc. The food would not be served to the whole table at the same time, at least one person would be left with nothing. A minimum of one dish would have to go back either because it was too cold or not cooked. Have even been served semi frozen food. NO, it wasn't ice cream !! On one visit six meals had to be returned out of eight. To be fair there is always apologies & some sort of recompense but I would rather have a good meal. I have seen the car park full so it must get busy but for the life of me I don't know why. Not all Beefeaters are this bad, I have been to some really good ones. read more

Went here 3 days ago for Sunday roast. The food is amazing and very generous portions. The interior is gorgeous and cosy

After an hour long wait for a table (admittedly not pre-booked but restaurant manager advised to a estimated 15 minute wait for a table and this was a Wednesday afternoon) sitting at a bar area table that had not been cleared for some time, and with no communication as to when our table would be ready, I took it upon myself to ask a bar team member if she would ask as to when we would be seated. She came back and advised that the restaurant manager had said that he did not know. I managed to catch him on the way past and found him to be short and rude, he was clearly doing us a huge favor and wanted us to know it, no matter what the wait. After waiting for a further 15 minuets or so I approached the restaurant manager again to inform him that we were leaving and no longer required a table which was for him clearly the straw that broke the camels back. He became aggressive and confrontational literally chasing my wife, daughter and I out of the restaurant. The entire situation in retrospect is somewhat unbelievable! This used to be a nice bar and restaurant with good quality food and service. After a disappointing visit a few weeks ago (under-cooked chicken and excessive long waits between courses) this will absolutely be the last time that my family at least visit The Dukes Head. To sum it up, lack luster food, long waits, overstretched staff and a restaurant manager who would be better suited to working as a doormen on a low rent nightclub then then working in a customer facing role.
