A Store for the Rich. But you should still go ;) I love Dugger's. Not because I can afford less than 10% of the items they have there. But because it inspires me to hopefully become wealthy enough to walk into a store like this, drop down my gold visa card and buy whatever I want. This is an amazing clothing store! Almost everything I put on looks good on me. And I'm definitely not a model. The staff are as professional as it gets and very helpful. They don't seem to judge a person when they come in, even if you are in shorts, t-shirt and sandals. The store also offers plenty of services. On site tailoring and, believe it or not, a kids room! Walk downstairs, and you will find a really cool store called D2. It is geared more towards the fashionable twenty year olds. The prices aren't that much better than upstairs. And many of the clothes you will find down there, I can find in most thrift stores. So I tend to avoid buying anything down there, but I'm always browsing just in case. Dugger's is the only Men's wear store in Halifax that I know of with High-End clothing and service geared towards people with deep pockets. Some may see this is a strike on the store, but I say its fun to walk inside and believe you are rich for a few minutes. From time-to-time I have bought a belt here, a tie there. I always have a staff person beside me, eager to please. With all the clothing stores trying to sell at prices easily affordable by the average person, its nice to find a store that proudly shows off its high prices but also has clothing you believe deserves to be sold at those prices. So walk on in and feel like a King for five minutes. I dare you.

Boys get the best clothing choices, in my opinion, and the D2 shop downstairs at Duggers has some cool, trendy men's clothing, for the clubby man in you. But - I'll say it - I like some of the clothes here, too, especially the t-shirts, hoodies and belts. D2 does sell some women's clothing but it's all that teeny-tiny stuff that no one older than 12 can wear. Also, anyone who isn't an offshore oil tycoon can't afford to buy much here, so it's more or less just a fun place to browse.

Always a pleasure to shop at Duggers. Exceptional service, atmosphere and selection, Halifax is fortunate to have a shop like this.

    Review Highlights - Dugger's

The cost for things like 100% cotton Eton shirts , Brax pants, or Hugo Boss suits are high but the quality / selection is amazing.

It doesn't hurt that they stock one of my favourite Canadian jewelry designers, as well as my 2nd love of life - Manitobah Moccasins. I own 3 pairs, I'm obsessed. Everything in the store is Canadian made, so no need to worry about spending your hard earned bucks on supporting local, because this store covers all those bases. Which brings me to the price. You're not going to walk in here and pick something up on a whim. No, you're going to carefully stock that very expensive coat, visit it often, until you just can't leave without it. Like how I'm going to do with that Biko necklace, earrings, bracelet.. you get the idea. I'm gonna creep the crap out of that jewelry until it finally comes home with me some payday Friday, when I carefully budget my pay cheque to cut out grocery shopping. So don't go in here thinking it's just another clothing store. You're paying for some Canadians dedication and hard work. You're supporting someone's passion and their dreams. I'd rather spend my money that way, I might end up spending more, but there is a different satisfaction with spending your money wisely. Plus the quality of products they sell here is top shelf!

I don't like to buy suits from bulk-barn type stores like Tip Top or Moors because their stuff is geared towards older people and doesn't stand out. Yet, like most people in Halifax, I can't always afford the exuberant prices of exclusive brands carried by stores like Duggers. The Suitor was the best of both worlds. I was able to find the modern look and style I was looking for, and the pricing was perfect! The store is owned and operated by a Master Tailor who provides custom fittings for anything you buy. I bought a Calvin Klein suit with a french-cuffed Sean John shirt. I didn't like how the shirt looked on me and wanted a more 'slim fit' look. He took my measurements and custom-fitted the shirt within 24 hours. This little hidden gem of a store works mainly on word of mouth and has been for several years now. They can custom make a suit for you in any style you desire. Regardless of your body type, if you like the look of a particular luxury brand (like a Hugo, Canali, or Zegna suit), bring a picture and they'll make a suit for you just like it... but for a fraction of the price!

Dang budgets. When you first enter the store you'll find yourself faced with tables and tables of adorable nick nacks and homewares to browse though - so many cute mugs and beautiful candles! One day I dream that my home will be filled with them. They've also got journals, books, even a kids gift section. Further back you'll find clothing - men's is on the upper level and women's on the lower. They've also got a killer jewellery section (which is where I've found myself most often drooling over the rings and earrings). I never look closely at the clothing because I don't want to tempt myself (out of my price range), but just glancing at the racks I and tell there are a lot of cute things that I hear are really great quality. From the little bit of browsing I've done the sizes are all pretty small...whomp whomp. In the men's section you'll find wallets, shave kits and some really fun socks in addition to the standard clothing fare. Don't miss out on the back section behind the men's clothing where the sale stuff is! They've always got a good selection of sale things. I really love the idea of shopping at Biscuit General, but unless it's some of the smaller items I just don't have the budget for it. It can get very pricey very quickly. That being said if you have more room in your budget definitely give Biscuit General a shot - it's definitely a local gem!
