Went to this dive shop today and had a lot of fun. These guys carry tons of gear from a large array of brands so you can find anything you want. They have a huge selection of technical dive kits and parts in the store, so it's enjoyable to check out all of the hardware while chatting with other divers. Everyone I spoke with was very professional and helpful. This store has a very large community of people behind it that are serious divers that you probably won't find at other outfits. I am planning to take some technical diving in the near future and I will be using these guys for my training. Conclusion: Highly recommended. Other Notes: The prices in the store seem to reflect Internet prices so there's not some huge brick and mortar markup here from what I can tell. read more

Simply the BEST dive shop in San Antonio. There are many aspects that make a business great. One of the most critical ones is compassion for the sport, and this place has just that. The store is called Duggan Diving , John Duggan the owner has compassion for diving which he shares with everyone who walk in the store. If you are lucky enough to have him during your training you will be a happy camper. I've traveled to nearly 30 countries and met many divers but none of them come close to the Dive Yoda John Duggan. This year we plan on diving the Red Sea , Panama City and a few Caribbean spots. Every dive is different so sometimes prep for each may differ as well. I am always able to rely on John to give me the ins and outs of what to expect and how to prepare. I don't think you will get that kind of service anywhere. In this land locked city of San Antonio Texas lives a legend. Went to Duggan diving twice today looking for a new BC, two dive computers, two new regulators, my wife some new flippers, my wife a new mask, and a new wet suit but they were closed. All the lights are on and the store hours on the door says they are open including there website. Wasted 3hrs of my day coming here at 1pm and then again at 3pm. But they can afford to lose a $2,000 sale I guess. read more

If you appreciate disorganized, unreliable and unprofessional businesses, then this is the place for you. I have yet to have a smooth or seamless experience with these people and my courses have been incorrectly scheduled on their part on more than one occasion, which results in me sitting in their empty parking lot trying to get in touch with someone. There is no internal communication in their business because answers and dates change depending on who you talk to. It is infuriating beyond belief. Had it been for Duggan Diving, we would've missed out on a dive of a lifetime because of their inability to keep a schedule or pick up a phone. Luckily, we were able to find a different dive shop that could accommodate us at the last minute. Their equipment is old and sub-par. I was soaking wet after my "dry-suit" course because of the multiple holes throughout the suit. They fight internally and curse in their shop and I've coming to my wits end with these people. If you are looking for a dive experience, I strongly encourage you to go elsewhere. read more

Got certified through Duggan Diving several years ago in their old location but now they have a new location and their shop is amazing lots of space friendly people their dive masters very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff is very helpful in answering any questions that you may have. One of their staff members Tom set us up with a great dive shop in Cancun, my wife is into photography and we met with Ken who offered his time to teach my wife how to take better photos underwater. The instructors (Donnie Friend, Tom Carnes, James Graham) take their time to teach you properly and assure that you fully understand the principles, techniques, and skills of safe diving. I was recently certified for my Open Water Course and definitely noticed the difference between the Duggan Diving instructors and the other dive shop instructors. On both of my open water dives at the lake (Sat & Sun), I saw how the other instructors were just about accomplishing the required skills and not about having fun diving. Not only did the Duggan Diving instructors provide me with more dive time, but also with great care and concern, to make me enjoy the sport, as I am an amputee. I would highly recommend the Duggan Diving family for all of your diving needs! Whether your just curious about checking diving out or have serious equipment needs. This place is great!!!! I did not experience any of the issues the other raters had experienced. I have gone in several times before my recert dive and everyone was very helpful and willing to answer my questions. James and Donnie are the two employees I dealt with the most. They were top notch in answering questions, making sure I was comfortable, and helpful hints that they use while they dive. The atmosphere is very laid back on the sales floor, guys gathered around sharing stories and past dive spots. Yes there is a 4ft pool, from what I understand it is a temporary one until they can get the larger one in. I was able to get in at 6 foot 1 and go through some of the basic skills before we went out to Canyon Lake the following morning. read more

Disorganized and unprofessional. The only person that ever gave us a straight answer was who I think is the owner. The girl behind the desk was lacking customer service skills and our instructor was disorganized and didn't seem adequately knowledgeable to be teaching a sport with so many safety hazards. They must not communicate with each other at all. I got a different answer to the same question every time. Even knowing we were in a time crunch the girl behind the desk assured me our new dive cards would be mailed in time. Finally, 6 days before our dive trip I popped in to see if we could speed up the process of getting the cards mailed. The owner (I think) found our cards and said they NEVER mail them. The girl behind the desk told me twice they would be mailed. Don't even get me started on the dive lessons. Our first "dive" was in an above ground 4ft pool with clumps of hair floating around in the dirty pool. I pulled a muscle in my back trying to get situated underwater to perform required tasks. I absolutely hate going to a business to find employees that bash each other. They are clearly unhappy if they are behaving that way. I wouldn't recommend learning to dive from them. Surely, you would be better off driving to The Dive Shop in San Marcos or the one in Stone Oak. I want to add that the girl behind the desk was super nice and helpful before she got my $. That is where the nice and helpful stopped. Equipment: with each dive, we had at least one leaking tank; we were given a tank once that the inspection was expired; we also had a leaking regulator. I have been certified for 27 years and loved the shop where I was certified in San Marcos. This was a first experience/certification for my fiance and son. I wish I could say I felt 100% confident in their abilities but I am not. I will need to dive buddy with them so that I feel safe with them diving on our trip. We did luck out on our last open water dive and got a dive master (Ken). He was great! I have no idea if he normally instructs here but if you are considering this location definitely go with that guy. If not for him, we would have all had to take a refresher course next week before we dive in the ocean just to feel confident enough to enter the water. read more

I can't say enough about the support and training i've received from everyone at Duggan Diving! Everyone on the staff has been extremely helpful and has always taken the time to answer all my questions. I'm new to scuba, it's been on my bucket list for a long time. Duggan Diving has welcomed me with open arms. You won't find better products, service, and support anywhere. Donnie Friend was my instructor for Open Water and Nitrox and I had such a great experience. They are so knowledgable about all the products they sell and they will tell you just because it cost more doesn't mean it't best for you. I purchased a complete Sidemount setup from them. Also, I did the Sidemount and Solo Diver certifications with them. Let's start with the shop. So much gear eye candy (dive toys). Nicely arranged store with knowledgeable staff. I found it difficult to not want to spend all my money. When I purchased the complete Sidemount kit, they gave me a tremendous discount, as well as threw in some extras at no charge. The staff is fantastic, took the time to get to know me, and patiently answered all my inane questions. The instructors, including the owner, are top-notch as well. They truly bent over backwards to help me, teach me, and meet my schedule. Additionally, they employ wounded warriors and fully support the Wounded Warrior Project.
