I am a fan of Dive World Scuba. I began diving again and needed recertification. While in the dive store, I was invited to dive the TX Clipper the following weekend. They hooked me up for a Thursday night recertification class, and Cathy magically found a wet suit for me. They went out of their way to prepare me for the dive, which was phenomenal. Unfortunately, the regulator I bought failed in the middle of the first dive. It started free flowing air at the connection. Will have to go through the hassle of sending it all back and then probably having to return it. I'm sure I won't get my money back because it was on sale and I didn't dive within 30 days. So sad, I needed a reliable piece of equipment and ended up with a rental anyway. read more

Guess what people? You do not need to take a trip to some exotic place down south to learn to Scuba Dive! Located off of Thousand Oaks is Dive World Scuba, equipped with a 13 foot pool to complete a life long certification in Scuba Diving. I stopped in this morning because I was so blown away by the pool being right in the middle of a strip mall. The man who helped me told me there are many different classes. There are weekend classes, night classes, home study, and then of course, the diving instruction. Totally cool. The whole package, including brand new gear, runs about $700-$900. I don't think that is bad to have a lifelong certification. Now I just have to convince my husband that we need to be scuba divers. Going to miles down the road is a pretty good persuasive point. read more

My husband and I walked in to learn more about getting scuba certified in December of 2016 and Chad was awesome about walking us though our many questions. His enthusiasm for diving is contagious and we really appreciate the time he spent with us when we returned to purchase our certification package and start-up gear. We originally scheduled our classes for the end of January but life got in the way and we had to push it out a month, Dive World was accommodating of our schedule with zero issues. Class time finally rolled around and we spent the first weekend at their location, split between classroom learning/testing in the morning and pool time skill development in the afternoon. Bill B. was our dive instructor and I really can't say enough good things about him. Not only does he know his stuff, he is patient and encouraging and really wants to see his students succeed. The second weekend was all open-water dives, first in the Comal and the next day in Medina Lake - in the Comal we ran into another group of students from their West location and in the few minutes I observed the other instructor, lets just say I was glad we were with Bill instead. He kept his groups sizes small and manageable and was clear in his instructions to us. In most of our water time Bill had a dive master or two accompany us to help keep us all moving and on track. Our second day in the pool I had a minor freak out and dive master James stayed by my side until I worked through my anxieties. James was awesome - really thankful for his calm presence. On our open water dives we had a different dive master with us whom I didn't gel with as much, he was too rough and came across like an underwater drill sergeant - I didn't care for it. Overall I'm glad we took the plunge with Dive World are now officially certified, and I'm looking forward to adding more experiences. read more

First, I'd like to thank Bill for his amazing class. He was my instructor for my open water certification. He was very knowledgeable and personal yet professional. He and the scuba dive staff answered all my questions and more. Their enthusiasm for the sport is exciting! They helped me with all my gear and even thought me how to use it. Chad and I sat in the middle of the shop and went step by step on how to use my dive computer. They gave me a ton of pointers for various things. For the class, Bill was very patient with all of us. There was three of us in my class and took his time with all of our needs. He was extremely patient with my ears and a previous recent hip injury. He made sure I was safe at all times. He really let me be able to let go of my anxiety prior to diving. Bill went with my dive buddy and I when we did one last dive after our mandatory dives. He even let me hold onto him when we got to a point where it was hard to see and my goggles were fogged to ease my anxiety. 10/10 would recommend this shop. They are very professional yet personal and really allow you to step feet first into the dive community. They give you calls and emails about uncoming events and even invite you to dive with them during a class after you are certified. Hats off to yall! read more

Loved our time here! Husband and I took a refresher course with Paul and he was awesome, super reassuring if we were having difficulties with any of the tasks we had to do. This place is horrible! Seriously the worst customer service EVER! They are NOT here to help the diver and build relationships in the dive community but rather all in it for the money and the sales! I was looking or nee gear and being a bit heavy looking for a new suite instead if helping me find one that fits they just wanted to hurry up and sell me a wet suite that was 2 sizes too small ! Looking at new BCDs again wanted to hurry and sell me the most expensive they had without me trying it on! They are selfish rude WAY over priced! The shop smelt like mildew. I wouldnt want to get certified here because i wouldnt trust their judgment being that they seem like they would just check the boxes and get you out asap! Id rather take my business to smaller local shops that care more for the diver and the sport! NOT RECOMMENDED!!! read more

The worst experience I have ever had with a small business! The owner could care less about his customers. The employees are incompetent. I took some gear in for a QUOTE FOR SERVICE and was called two weeks later with repairs that were completed but unauthorized. Sooooo, they tried to stick me with $160 bill for some o rings. I refused to pay the labor charge because I never authorized the work. The owner yelled at me that he was out of $100 because of me and that's when I lost it. As I walked out fuming, another man was right behind me saying the same thing!! Stay away!!! Oh and when I originally called and asked to speak with the owner, Darren, the one who originally screwed up my order, laughed at me!!! Worst business ever!!!! read more

Gave this place a call to see about doing a check dive and was not disappointed. Bill's enthusiasm and professionalism over the phone is unlike anything I received from other local dive shops in the area. Upon arrival Bill and the other gentleman in the shop were very welcoming and had me feeling right at home. Given that I hadn't taken a dive in over a year this was huge plus. I was given a complete run down of the skills we would be performing in the pool and an opportunity to ask any questions if further clarification was needed. Having the pool on-site was incredibly convenient and provided a nice controlled environment that's conducive to learning. Once in the pool, Bill demonstrated having great knowledge, patience and genuine kindness in making sure myself and another diver were comfortable in the water and performing the skills required. The fist bumps and praise when completing skills was an added plus. I have zero negative things to say about this place, Bill, or the other staff. If you're looking to get into diving, take a refresher, or just need help calming some nerves in the water, this is the place to go. read more

My son and I just completed our PADI Open Water Certification today. Maddy was our instructor. She was passionate, professional and patient throughout the course. I am 50+ years old and my son is 15.
