Little children like my granddaughter age 3 1/2 would need to wear floaties for your peace of mind but, parents are going to be with their children. My daughter and her husband rented a Kayak to go to the other side where it is deeper and there was a rope swing. My son in law loved that. You can take your own water toys and tubes. It is spring fed and it stays 72 degrees all year. It's still chilly but when you walk around you get use to it and it's comfortable. I have not camped out. We may go again for the 4th and we might camp out. It's very pleasant there. The cabanas are great. Lots of shade in the cabanas and you can grill, there are lots of chairs so you don't have to take chairs unless you want to. You will need to take food and drinks, snacks. All of the cabanas have hammocks which is nice. Beware of rocks though and be sure and take your water shoes so that you can walk on the rocks. There are some areas that are very easy to just walk into the water where the ground is level. I highly recommend this place for a fun family weekend or a fun day.

BEDBUGS. I had a terrible stay at Son's Blue River Camp. There are bedbugs in the log cabin. I had…read moreto pack up and leave the cabin in the middle of the night to find a hotel. I have video evidence of the bedbugs in the bed and I was bitten multiple times. I also believe they were aware there were bedbugs on the property and passed it off as a simple "maintenance issue". In addition to this huge problem, they are also unorganized. The staff didn't properly inform me about changes to my reservation. I was sent a last minute email with vital information that they should have confirmed with me via phone call or text. They also allowed me to buy a tubing/kayaking/shuttle wristband during my reservation. When I spoke to an employee on the phone about the problems with the property, she informed me that they were not even operating the shuttle/tubing during the week because it was "off season". I tried emailing the property as soon as this happened and did not get a response. I also called twice to speak to the manager about it. The manager, Rachel, never called me back. Do not stay at Son' Blue River Camp. It was a 0/10 experience.

There were a lot of new deck hands and there is a new manager for the boat club. We have been mostly pleased with our experiences with the boats. The boat was in pretty good shape except for some upholstery issues. The motor ran great. The deck hands were very helpful. But when we came into the dock, there were a couple of other very full boats with lots of passengers that had been pulling tubes. We made the mistake of not sticking around to check and see what the gas fill up was and somehow our fill up got mixed up with one of the other 2 boats that had been pulling tubes. Soooo, we were charged the wrong fuel charge. Our gas gauge barely made it past Full but we were charged $63.46 which meant we would have had to use at least 9 gallons of gas. We might have used at most 3 gallons. After explaining this to the front office, the best they could do was offer us a 5 gallon credit on our next trip out. I'm sorry, but the new management is going to have to do better than that, especially considering they may not remember this so called credit. To any other potential boat club members, pay attention to your gas gauge and the fill ups. Don't leave until you see what it is.

Here are some…read morethoughts: -Run entirely by students, done very well, very enjoyable. -We wanted to check out the glass bottom boats, and we were not disappointed! -We went on the 45-minute tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, and passionate--great combo! Cost was about $15 a person. -Saw a lot of wildlife, including deer, many birds, including a hawk, turtles, and many fish. Don't forget to check out the aquarium! -About a dozen people on our tour boat, from toddlers to 60's. Everyone enjoyed the experience. -Boat was covered, so it felt cool enough on the water even on a warm spring day. Highly recommended!

A San Marcos landmark and a unique experience that everyone should visit…read more The tour can offer a nice respite on even the hottest Texas days, however, be prepared for the disappointment that you cannot partake in the cool and gorgeous springs. My only detractor for this facility is the glaring lack of history of the world famous Aquarena Springs. It is mentioned briefly in the tour, and there are of course remnants of the former attractions. However, in their "museum" there is only a small glass case with a plate smattering of memorabilia. This included some dry-rotted goggles, an old program, and poorly displayed photo slide you can squint at inside the glass box. I understand that the history of Aquarena is one of ecological exploitation. Perhaps they want to avoid celebrating this past. However, you can't deny the effect it had on the area and how it still resonates to this day through SM's mermaid culture, among other things. Maybe one day the roof top of the old hotel could house a better collection or display. Or maybe the old trails could be opened for exploration. Until then, I will ensure that every visitor that comes to see us is taken on the glass bottom boat tour and they get so see our San Marcos salamanders.

The bus was really comfortable, although the ride was short. They offer tubes that are bottomless or with bottoms. I heard the water was shallow, I chose the one with bottom. I certainly don't want my bottom kissing the bottom of the river. I went to tubing with a group of my bear friends from Houston. We had a blast in the Comal River. But I had a different experience than them. My friend and I got off the river earlier than my group. We were picked up from the last public exit and brought to the shop to wait on the bus. The driver kept updating me on the status. We heard the bus broke down at one point. Okay. No problem. The New Braunfels sun was shining at us for about an hour. Finally, a windowless van picked us up and dropped off at the hotel. Even with minor glitch, I would come back to get my tube at Corner Tubes.
